This leads to rising effects on peoples spatial behaviour. There fore transportation research is asked to include these communication processes as virtual transport next to the until now regarded physical transport. Before regarding and modelling of virtual transport and the interaction between physical an virtual transport are possible, a better data basis especially for virtual transport is needed. Therefore special interviews in some towns in northern Baden-Württemberg of different size, importance and transportation possibilities were made, to be able to compare physical an virtual transportation behaviour. The results of these interviews are described and give the basis for conclusions and recommendations for area plan ning and especially regional transportation planning. Abstract Leisure travel is the fastest growing travel market segment in Germany. A system-dynamic model of the in.terac tions between the demand and the various factors influencing it was developed to improve our understan?l~g of the processes. One central variable of the model is the fuel price. There is little literature about the elastlclty of leisure travel demand with respect to fuel price in Germany. The core of the paper reports the results of survey of leisure travellers about their responses to fue! price increases, which was undertaken to improve our understand ing. The travellers were interviewed at different locations around Stuttgart using a transfer .price ~pproach, a specific stated preference survey technique. The results showed that the traveller response was In~lastI~ « 1): but that the willingness of the respondents depended both on the distance to horne and. on the qua~Ity of the lels~re actlvlty. The empirical results were used in various policy simulations to assess the Impact of different fuel pnce scenarios on leisure travel demand.","PeriodicalId":299293,"journal":{"name":"Pie-Sharing zwischen Entwicklungspartnern","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115104436","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
