Y. Usikov Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (IRE NASU). It had 100-kW magnetron source, 12-m deployable slotted-waveguide antenna and onboard signal processing unit. Instead of planned experiments, only five days after placement into the polar Earth orbit in the autumn of 1983, SLR of “Cosmos-1500” rendered truly outstanding service. It provided a stream of microwave images of the polar sea ice conditions that enabled the rescue of the freighters in the Arctic Ocean. However, the way to success was far from smooth. Besides of the technical problems, A. Kalmykov had to overcome the jealousy and hostility of both his home institute administration and the USSR bureaucracy. Later, SLR of “Cosmos-1500” was released to the industry and became the main instrument of the USSR and Russian series of remote sensing satellites “Okean” and Ukrainian satellites “Sich-1” and “Sich-1M.” We believe that SLR of “Cosmos-1500” is a perfect candidate to the status of IEEE Milestone in Ukraine.","PeriodicalId":297673,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 2nd Ukrainian Microwave Week (UkrMW)","volume":"149 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123188783","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The filter operation is based on the straight-edge ferrite resonator (made from Y-type hexaferrite) symmetrically coupled to the input and output microstrip transmission lines. The filter demonstrated magnetic tunability within 8–12 GHz frequency range by the in-plane bias magnetic field and electric control of the passband center frequency due to current-induced nonlinear magnetoelectric effect. The electric tuning of the center frequency up to $-(115pm 90)$ MHz was obtained for the 200 mW of DC electric power applied to the ferrite resonator.","PeriodicalId":297673,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 2nd Ukrainian Microwave Week (UkrMW)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121140655","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Compared to lossless compression, it allows providing a considerably larger compression ratio but distortions are introduced inevitably. Properties of these distortions depend on a used coder, an image subject to compression, and compression parameters. Distortions affect visual perception of compressed images and efficiency of their further processing. Thus, statistical and spatial spectral properties of introduced distortions have to be understood well to explain effects observed in compressed image processing and, possibly, enabling their simulation. In this paper, we describe the tools that can be used in analysis of distortion properties and give an example of such analysis for grayscale images compressed by AGU coder. It is shown that distortions, in general, have spatially variant statistics where they are more intensive in locally active areas. Besides, distortions are spatially uncorrelated for all considered quantization steps and, respectively, compression ratios. Experiments are carried out using four typical remote sensing images.","PeriodicalId":297673,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 2nd Ukrainian Microwave Week (UkrMW)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123106787","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The criterion of truth in this case always is experimental measurements, but in many cases it is difficult or sometimes impossible to provide it. So, one need reliable and efficient calculation methods in order to estimate radar detectability of a model of the complex shape object for typical radar wavelengths. The existing calculation methods assume the scattering field obtaining for each small parts (each facets) of the investigated model surface. For radar range such facets should be quite small and the it's the number can be very significant, so the scattered field calculation for all such facets can take a lot of time. On the other hand the real radar measurements frequently provides with low accuracy, so the high accuracy in calculations is not needed. It this paper we are going to obtain the approximation formulae for quick estimation of RCS for a complex shape object.","PeriodicalId":297673,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 2nd Ukrainian Microwave Week (UkrMW)","volume":"58 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130650990","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A narrow Gaussian beam in the time domain is employed as the incident electromagnetic waves with a large period. The reflected field from the scatterer differs from the object's dimension, orientation, and relative permittivity. Therefore, the object's location, orientation, and electrical and physical properties can be deduced from the difference in the reflected field characteristics in the time domain. The Method of Auxiliary Sources (MAS) is employed to obtain the results.","PeriodicalId":297673,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 2nd Ukrainian Microwave Week (UkrMW)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132150885","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An analysis of the relationship between the temporal and spatial frequency of capillary waves on the surface of a low-viscosity liquid was carried out, which made it possible to use the non-destructive method of optical heterodyning to determine the rheological characteristics of the near-surface layers of the samples. Irradiation of distilled water with electromagnetic radiation (specific power 10−4 W/cm2, frequency 60 GHz, exposure time 1 - 20 min.) leads to an increase in the viscosity and surface tension of the NADH solution in the distillate leads to a decrease in its viscosity and surface tension, which indicates changes in conformations of NADH molecules.","PeriodicalId":297673,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 2nd Ukrainian Microwave Week (UkrMW)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134220605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
