The hardware platforms used to generate the signals are embedded systems, manufactured in recent years. Three types of microcontrollers based on their register architecture were used: 8-bit ATMEGA 328P, 16bit SAB80C167 and 32-bit PIC32MX320F128H. PWM is a preferred way for control in modern semiconductor devices. The very short rising and falling time ensure the minimum of switching transition time respectively of the switching losses. In this context, the paper will analyze comparatively a new structure, related on a classical reference structure, both the hardware and the software. Until now, for most of the projects it was necessary to dedicate a valuable and portable device (like a smartphone or tablet-PC) even for the static applications. This paper suggests a router-based possible solution for that inconvenience which is a low-cost, open-source and relatively easy to implement architecture. The experimental platform is then tested by performing remote data acquisition and logging for some critical lab environment aspects (temperature, light intensity, air oxygen level and distance-to-object). To enforce the lab monitoring process, a remotely operated 2-DOF camera is integrated (with pan, tilt and focus control). Also, in order to avoid the side effects of a continuous charging scenario, we integrated a relay based cut-off battery protection circuit. To demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach, a proof-of-concept system was developed. An application in which two expert systems are used for the differential diagnosis of hypertension is presented. These systems aim to facilitate the diagnosis process of primary, endocrine and renal hypertension. A Naive Bayes Classifier and a Fuzzy Inference System were designed and implemented in order to differentiate the presented types of hypertension. The application was designed based on the client-server architecture, using Cloud Computing techniques and Android programming. OPD iteratively builds near-optimal sequences of actions by always refining the most promising sequence; this is done by adding all possible one-step actions. However, OPD has large computational costs, which might be undesirable in real life applications. This paper proposes an adaptation of OPD for a specific subclass of control problems where control actions do not change often (e.g. bang-bang, time-optimal control). The new algorithm is called Optimistic Planning with K identical actions (OKP), and it refines sequences by adding, in addition to one-step actions, also repetitions of each action up to K times. Our analysis proves that the a posteriori performance guarantees are similar to those of OPD, improving with the length of the explored sequences, though the asymptotic behaviour of OKP cannot be formally predicted a priori. Different towns along the Danube River, like Giurgiu, Oltenita, Calarasi, Braila and Galati are still threatened by floods close to or higher than 1% probability of exceedance. The floodplain is divided by transverse dykes into enclosures, which could be used as lateral reservoirs (polders) for storing water and decreasing downstream water level during high floods. A Decision Support System (DSS) was developed by UTCB in order to evaluate the hydraulic consequences (water level, maximum discharge) for different scenarios of accidental or deliberate flooding of enclosures. A special sub-model for breach development (breach elevation and length evolution) was set up. Since the hydraulic simulations are time and other resources consuming, a hydrological model for flood propagation was used. They refer to interdisciplinary results covering all the production perspectives from organizational level - decentralization and autonomy, structural level - reconfigurable systems, and communication level - interoperability. This paper makes an assessment of the most interesting achievements on the collaborative manufacturing, based on the IMS2020 project roadmap key research areas, presented on three emerging approaches: holonic organization for mechatronic control; agent-based implementation for distributed intelligent control; service-oriented communication for coordination, cooperation and collaboration. Some details about the role of intelligent products/resources are explicitly presented.
