Although their effects on shear bond strength (SBS) and adhesive remnant index (ARI) are not investigated yet, the current research designed to search the impact of storage of the orthodontic composite on SMF on SBS and ARI.Materials and Methods Biofix and Heliosit orthodontic adhesives were employed in this study, beside 60 extracted premolars that were separated into two equal groups according to adhesive type. Each group, furtherly, is divided into three subgroups (10 each) according to the storage field magnetic intensity as Zero, 225 and 1000Gauss. The tensile instron machine was performed to debond the brackets after incubation for 24 h in a dark wet environment at 37C°. ARI was evaluated by stereomicroscope at 20 magnification power. SBS and ARI data were analysed by ANOVA and Kruskal–Wallis tests, respectively. P was set at 0.05.The results SBS of Heliosit adhesive significantly increased with elevation of field intensity at 8.5496, 9.7592 and 11.2129MPas, while Biofix SBS was significantly changed from 9.1547, 11.8294 and 8.7132MPas with Zero, 225 and 1000Gauss field intensity, respectively. ARI showed a non-significant difference at three storage intensities as p = 0.543, 0.377 for Biofix and Heliosit, respectively.Conclusion Storage of Biofix and Heliosit orthodontic adhesives in 225Gauss SMF improves SBS. Furthermore, an increase in SMF intensity up to 1000Gauss improves Heliosit SBS, unlike Biofix which shows significant reduction.KEYWORDS: Polymerization in magnetic fieldshear bond strengthstatic magnetic fieldadhesive remnant index AcknowledgmentsThe authors thank the University of Mosul for their support in conducting this research.Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the author(s).Author contributionsSSA contributed to conceptualization, methodology, investigation, writing – original draft preparation, reviewing and editing. This article reports the treatment of an adult Class II patient using orthodontic miniscrews as anchorage for maxillary dentition distalization. The main purpose of this report was to examine whether long-term retention was effective for maintaining the obtained optimal occlusion.Materials and methods The patient was a 26.5-year-old female diagnosed with skeletal Class I jaw relationship, low angle, Class II molar relationship, maxillary and mandibular anterior crowding, and excessive overjet. To correct the crowding and molar relationship, the maxillary lateral dentition was moved distally using miniscrews. After active treatment, wrap-around retainers were provided to be worn for 10 years.Results A normal overjet and overbite, Class I molar relationship, and rigid intercuspation were achieved after active treatment. From pre-treatment to post-treatment, the right and left maxillary molars moved distally with slight intrusion and buccal movement. At the 10-year retention, the maxillary and mandibular molars remained almost unchanged. The maxillary intercanine and maxillary and mandibular intermolar widths increased during active treatment, and remained almost unchanged after active treatment.Conclusion An optimal occlusion and harmonious facial profile were obtained and maintained for an extended period using maxillary dentition distalization with miniscrews as anchorage.KEYWORDS: Miniscrewdistalizationretentionrelapse3D analysis Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the author(s).Ethical approvalThe patient consented in writing to publication of the case.Author contributionsDaiki Irie contributed to the treatment of the patient, data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation, and drafted the manuscript; Toshihito Oyanagi, Mau Ito-Okubo, Atsushi Mayama and Arata Ito contributed to the treatment of the patient and data analysis; Masahiro Seiryu and Itaru Mizoguchi contributed to data interpretation, and drafting the manuscript. A total of 21 landmarks were identified by one operator and a total of 20 parameters were measured both AI based platform WebCeph® and Dolphin Imaging®. Measurements of AI landmarking were recorded. Then, the landmarks placed automatically by the AI (AI landmarking) were corrected manually (manual landmarking). All the measurements were recorded and performed once more after 4-weeks. Correlation between repeated measurements was evaluated by using the Pearson correlation coefficient. Paired t-test was used for comparisons between groups.Results Most of the measurements showed statistically significant differences between AI landmarking and manual landmarking 1, except for the angular measurements of the U1-SNº (P = 0.717), interinsizal angle (P = 0.410), and L1-NBº (P = 0,295). Most of the measurements were found to be statistically similar between manual landmarking 1 and manual landmarking 2, except for the angular measurement of the SN-GoGnº, IMPAº, linear measurements ANS-Me. The Pearson correlation coefficients of all cephalometric measurements were above 0.80.Conclusions All mean differences between the manual landmarking 1 and AI landmarking measurements were less than 2 degrees/2 mm, except for the nasolabial angle. Although WebCeph’s artificial intelligence algorithm is not sufficient to accurately determine the position of soft tissue landmarks, it becomes more suitable for clinical use with the control and manual correction of landmarks by observers.KEYWORDS: Artificial intelligenceautomatic landmarkingcephalometricWebCeph AcknowledgmentsWe thank Hatice Cansu Kış, PhD, from Gaziosmanpasa University (Tokat, Turkiye) for technical support and advice on statistical analyses.Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the author.Authors contribution“HD made the cephalometric tracings, analysed and interpreted the cephalometric data, standardized the cephalograms and selected them according to the including criteria.Ethical approvalThe study was conducted according to the Declaration of Helsinki principles and was approved by the Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Committee at Nuh Naci Yazgan University (Approval No:1/393).","PeriodicalId":29659,"journal":{"name":"Clinical and Investigative Orthodontics","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136134987","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
