Big data the Ugly includes datasets whose magnitude is far away of being processed by traditional techniques. The Bad is the authors' framework that, even knowing about the ideal situation, represented by the Good, they realize the presence of the Ugly and face a decision, even knowing that it will not be the best but it is still important in order to mine nuggets from the cache of gold. As in every successful story, the authors' mission is to make the 'Bad' increasingly 'Good'. To make their artifact increasingly aware of, it is needed the domain expert's contribution, as argued by the methodology analysis to which there is mention.","PeriodicalId":296518,"journal":{"name":"Int. Therefore, scatternet formation improvement and efficient routing algorithms are required that can efficiently construct a short route between a source and destination. As of today, many protocols have been proposed, mostly researchers focusing on simplicity and reliability, but only few of them fulfill the Bluetooth scatternet scenario. Therefore, it opens new doors for scatternet formation and inter-piconet routing for the Bluetooth scatternet. This paper presents a review of Bluetooth routing and scatternet formation protocols for inter-piconet communication. First, Bluetooth operation is explained followed by important applications and topologies are discussed. Then, inter-piconet routing and network formation protocols are critically analyzed. Finally, Bluetooth problems and open research issues are highlighted.","PeriodicalId":296518,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Knowl. Soc. The main motivations are the OBDA scenario, where a domain ontology allows to hidden the technical details of the db to end-users; and the persistent storage of ontologies in db for facilitating search and retrieval keeping the benefits of DBMSs such as security and integrity. In these cases, the ABox is usually stored into a db, and the TBox is maintained in an ontology; for this reason, schema alignment is a more significant problem than the instance matching one. The use of manual mappings is hard and expensive, especially for large representations. This paper proposes an innovative approach for solving this problem based on a HMM; it estimates the most likely sequence of symbols describing the structures in the relational schema corresponding to the axioms in the ontology to be aligned. The theoretical background nd the models are described in detail. Finally, the system is compared to the most widespread tools in literature.","PeriodicalId":296518,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Knowl. In other words, Twitter is considered as a \"meta medium.\" Earthquake-related tweets included information that was of questionable veracity, contained vicious rumors, and propagated matters of controversy that often gave rise to various discussions and arguments. In this research, the authors analyzed 89,351,242 tweets posted from December 11, 2010 to April 16, 2012. They then extracted 9,816,625 URLs and classified the top 100 domains of these URLs into 19 media categories. The emotional reactions of Twitter users were investigated by counting the terms conveying positive and negative emotions included in the body of tweets along with the media URLs. The authors' findings revealed differences in terms of the frequency with which terms expressing emotions were evoked and differences in the patterns of their surges, across the various media. The authors also considered the usage of various terms appearing in tweets concurrently with the terms expressing emotion.","PeriodicalId":296518,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Knowl. Soc. The main contribution of the proposed research is the application of a Multidimensional Text Mining over multiple dimensions for social media pulses analysis. A set of exploratory studies were performed on textual messages Twitter to explore multiple kind of relations between terms, their compliance with CH, and finally estimating the Social Sensitivity Indicator to this domain and its polarity. False tweets could be a rumour which is mostly recognized as a representative whose legitimacy, authenticity, precision and significance is either unverifiable or unreliable. Arabic rumours may propagate misinformation on social networks. In this research, the author illustrates the difficulty of Arabic rumour identification in twitter social platform by studying the impact based on Arabic tweet content. Furthermore, the author explains how these content features are too influential in measuring the credibility of those Arabic tweets.","PeriodicalId":296518,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Knowl. Soc. This assumption of missing values has been made, without loss of generality, as the authors has observed that missing information is part of the nature of data in the health domain and also in other domains such as social sciences. The author's methodology is an attempt to deal with the linkage of records of the same patient in several databases. The first phase in her methodology is called homogenization. The homogenization of the databases/datasets is performed by applying a method which fills-in the missing values with the predicted values. The second phase of her methodology is called linking of records. It assesses the similarity between records and implements the linkage of the pairs of records with high level of similarity. Finally, the author presents an evaluation of our methodology. The evaluation of the homogenization phase was carried out using multinomial regression while, the evaluation of the aggregated similarities were performed using Jaccard, Jaro-Winkler and Monge-Elkan similarity metrics.","PeriodicalId":296518,"journal":{"name":"Int. It also aims at exploring quality systems in higher education institutions in the EU and in Greece and investigates why and how these influence the quality system, assessment policy and practices at DEREE. Additionally, it contributes with a valued proposition on the development of a hybrid quality system which will affect teaching, learning and assessment processes and eventually lead to curricular enhancement and probably reforms. The question is does it also work the other way around? Does industrial R&D function as an attractor for university R&D? What are the behavioural relationships between industrial R&D and university R&D and vice versa? The authors argue that spatial proximity should be measured using accessibility measures. Fur-thermore, accessibility measures can be used to model interaction opportunities at dif-ferent spatial scales: local, intra-regional and inter-regional. Against this background, the purpose of this paper is to analyse the locational relationship between industry R&D and university R&D in India using a simultaneous equation approach. The authors' results indicate that the location of industrial R&D is quite sensitive to the location of university R&D, and that the location of university R&D is sensitive to the location of industrial R&D.","PeriodicalId":296518,"journal":{"name":"Int.
