The rise of energy consumption leads to a significant increase on CO2 emissions and has indirect drawbacks on environment. Reducing energy consumption in wireless network became a hot topic of research. In this paper, we propose an energy saving approach in heterogeneous networks (HetNet) by switching ON/OFF LTEAdvanced Base Station (BS) and allowing their users according to their SINR (Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio) values to femto cells or to neighbors eNodeBs (eNBs) by applying the concept of Coordinated Multipoint (CoMP) in order to guarantee Quality of service (QoS).","PeriodicalId":296466,"journal":{"name":"2018 32nd International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications Workshops (WAINA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130538383","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays Android has been the leading role in mobile system market with an extremely large user scale. Consequently, large amounts of sensitive data stored in mobile devices are facing an increasing number of threats. Those sensitive data contains not only personal information like contacts and sms, but also some high-level security information in IoT (Internet of Things) devices, even bank accounts and passwords. In this paper, we designed our Sensitive Data Protection mechanism (SDP) based on SELinux in Android (SEAndroid), which can significantly enhance the protection for the static sensitive data in Android system and help Android spread further in smart mobile terminal field.","PeriodicalId":296466,"journal":{"name":"2018 32nd International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications Workshops (WAINA)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131936676","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Yet increased enrolments brings many challenges for faculty members trying to track and predict academic performance. One possible mechanism for prediction is to use in-class participation data to determine whether participation is linked to academic performance. In this study, we combined in-class and out-of-class (e.g., Learning Management System) data with a range of qualitative and quantitative self-report measures. We then used a range of data mining (DM) algorithms to predict final course outcomes. We found that students who participated more and thought that the tool helped them to learn, engaged and increased their interest in the course more, and eventually achieved the highest scores. This finding supports the view that in-class participation is critical to learning and academic success.","PeriodicalId":296466,"journal":{"name":"2018 32nd International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications Workshops (WAINA)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121625724","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The gap between the energy required to supply such construction, and the actual energy produced, particularly in the building sector, has put enormous pressure on the selection of sustainable construction materials. Even though the construction industry continues to place this pressure on natural resources, it has also resulted in an increase in the production of waste material, which is being dumped all over the world. In recent years, a lot of work has been undertaken to develop sustainable buildings/housing. The selection of appropriate sustainable building materials is one of the most important processes in the building design and construction process. Immediate efforts are needed to improve the awareness of sustainable materials among decision makers as there is limited technological support to assist technical experts (i.e. engineers, estimators, architects, draftsmen etc.) in the decision-making process when searching for and selecting new sustainable construction materials and practices for different building components (e.g. walls, roof, slab etc.). Moreover, cyber-physical infrastructure and information technologies are essential to support the sustainability of construction projects; this will be discussed further in this paper.","PeriodicalId":296466,"journal":{"name":"2018 32nd International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications Workshops (WAINA)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121652135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this sense, we benefit from many technologies such as Software Defined Networking (SDN), Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) and new tools like Machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to propose a new architecture where we add a new intelligent entity that facilitates the management and efficient allocation of network resources. But, the placement of this node can present a problem. In this article, we formulate this problem using the Game Theory. First, we begin by presenting the technologies and tools used in this work. In the second place, we present the architecture model and do a modeling to find the optimal placement of Smart Node in the network. Then we propose a scenario to prove the usefulness of the proposed model.","PeriodicalId":296466,"journal":{"name":"2018 32nd International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications Workshops (WAINA)","volume":"156 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128748406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Trustworthy data collection, mining and fusion is vital for the successful widespread acceptance of IoT applications. This requires not only accurate, secure, and precise data collection; but also provisioning of data provenance throughout the whole life-cycle of the IoT device. To this end, this paper introduces a provenance-based trust management solution which helps in establishing a trust relationship among communicating devices in the IoT. This work extends the Internet of Things Management Platform (IoT-MP) by assuring data provenance. With the recent growth of 3D virtual world applications, the demand to improve the gesture recognition method, especially hand gesture recognition, has increased. In this paper, we propose a novel vision-based gesture recognition system for controlling the 3D virtual world based on depth images obtained from the 3D camera device. For the proposed system, we used mix spatial space features consisting of 3D and 2D space features. The finger position in the point cloud represents the 3D space feature and the contour of hand from the images as 2D space feature. To investigate the robustness of our system, we designed 9 gestures including 6 static and 3 dynamic varieties. During experiments, we instruct people to display those gestures and calculate the recognition rate. Our results demonstrate that the proposed system was able to recognize the 9 gestures very well with the average accuracy of 95% for static gestures and 81.34% for dynamic ones.","PeriodicalId":296466,"journal":{"name":"2018 32nd International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications Workshops (WAINA)","volume":"204 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134192376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
