On the other hand, in some contexts, individual metering systems and end-user awareness could lead to undesirable effects, such as the penalization of comfort in favor of energy saving. In the literature, there are few studies concerning the estimation of the combined effect of end-user awareness and individual metering on energy consumptions and thermal comfort, especially in contexts at risk of energy poverty such as social housing. This paper aims to evaluate the effects of an informative campaign delivered in a social housing building of 9 apartments in a Mediterranean climate, where indirect heat accounting systems are installed. For this purpose, the daily energy consumption and the average daily indoor temperatures of the 9 dwellings were analyzed before and after the implementation of a specific awareness campaign based on indirect feedback. The results showed a statistically significant reduction of the energy consumption equal to 3.80% in the building after the campaign, without any significant variation in the average indoor temperatures.","PeriodicalId":295373,"journal":{"name":"2022 7th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies (SpliTech)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129781085","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The tag is designed on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate with a compact size of 1cm radius operating in ultra-wideband, ranging from 3.5 to 16GHz. The overall structure and results have been significantly improved in comparison to the latest research. It has high code density of 6.92bits/cm2, regular geometry, larger sensitivity for the humidity of 60MHz/%RH variation, high magnitude frequency dips, angular stability up to 60°, high radar cross-section, low cost, and compact size are distinctive outcomes of the suggested sensor tag. It is simulated in computer simulation technology microwave studio (CST-MW). The tag can provide information about biomass locomotion, available weight in storage and combust. It has robustness, grind-bile, and combustible properties during combustion and pyrolysis process. This paper provides a pathway for biomass pellets tracking and humidity monitoring by using a battery-free chipless RFID sensor tag in real-time.","PeriodicalId":295373,"journal":{"name":"2022 7th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies (SpliTech)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124621663","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In antenna design, this peculiarity can be exploited to reduce the size of linear antennas, thanks to a greater electrical length associated with fractal patterns instead of linear ones. In this paper, those properties are further enhanced using 3D printing to realize a small in size, three-dimensional dipole antenna based on the well-known Koch curve fractal pattern, for UHF RFID applications in ETSI band. A commercial composite filament by PREPERM™, suitable to be used with Fused Filament Fabrication technology, has been adopted to realize the dielectric part of the antenna, while an adhesive copper tape has been opportunely shaped to realize the antenna conductive parts. Finally, an Impinj Monza R6 has been mounted as Internal Chip of the prototype. The resulting tag exhibits very good performance, with an estimated maximum reading distance of about 6 meters at 866 MHz, while maintaining a really small footprint of less than 28 mm2.","PeriodicalId":295373,"journal":{"name":"2022 7th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies (SpliTech)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130378357","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the main challenges in intelligent environments is to correctly model and ascertain the users' behavior in order to react to it and cater to their needs. One of the main challenges in human behavior modeling is predicting the users' next actions. In this paper we propose using two different quantum computing algorithms in order to predict human behavior: Quantum Kernel Alignment and Quantum Support Vector Machines. Our experiments show that those algorithms outperform other traditional machine learning algorithms in this task. We also present a study that analyzes the influence of qubit noise in the performance of the quantum approach. This helps to understand how the accuracy of the quantum computing algorithms will increase as the underlying hardware matures and qubit noise is reduced.","PeriodicalId":295373,"journal":{"name":"2022 7th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies (SpliTech)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121959227","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, the widespread of the Internet of Things (loT) and distributed monitoring has led to an increasing demand for autonomous, long-life low-power smart devices. As a consequence, research on alternative energy sources in the surrounding environment, with zero costs and reduced bio impact, is growing. This work demonstrates the feasibility of a plant-based energy harvesting system capable of constantly extracting energy in the order of hundreds of microwatts. The achieved results enable future research works on practical electronic systems to include the energy extraction process from living plants to supply embedded systems for plant monitoring or other similar applications.","PeriodicalId":295373,"journal":{"name":"2022 7th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies (SpliTech)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131851755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is important to investigate modifiable factors that might help preserve mobility, especially in later life. In this work we present the development of the software system Axivity, that supports specialists in conducting in-depth research on patient activity, taking into account data recorded by an actigraph (a simple and non-invasive device used to diagnose sleep) and data provided by the patient or care provider, so as to provide also relationships between activity energy expenditure estimated from wrist-worn accelerometers and the intensity of physical activity. This paper presents a novel mathematical formulation for estimating the gains of hybrid powertrain in the form of exhaust emissions and fuel efficiency. According to the defined energy flow diagram, the mathematical formulation of each emission or fuel consumption source is given as a function of the most influential parameter. The input data are obtained by measuring emissions under real driving conditions or on a test bench which are mandatory during vehicle type approval. This approach is suitable for use as a stand-alone method or as part of simulation software.","PeriodicalId":295373,"journal":{"name":"2022 7th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies (SpliTech)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131008584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The 2,430 Mexican municipalities were analyzed with the aim of mapping behavior in buildings. The results show that more than 50% of the Mexican territory requires high air conditioning levels to achieve thermal satisfaction conditions. Additionally, the projections made considering the Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) scenarios demonstrated that by 2100 the maximum cooling hours would be 40% higher than the current level, while the hours of operation will have a growing trend of more than 30%. The developed methodology offers a national overview of the air conditioning requirement in various predictive models under climatic and operational scenarios in the energy demand for air conditioning spaces. This work serves as a precedent in the research and design of public policies in the construction sector of buildings for the regulation of operational criteria and energy efficiency.","PeriodicalId":295373,"journal":{"name":"2022 7th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies (SpliTech)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133639626","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To deal with the growing consumption together with the uncertainty related to the time of arrival at the charging station and EV state of energy, the paper investigates the profitability of investment in different low-carbon (LC) technologies in the EV charging stations based on real-EV-data optimization. The model considers several real-life charging points in Croatia at different location (high-way, parking lot in the capital city and parking lot at the sea-side). Analyses show that the investment in PV and BES is profitable under current retail market options resulting in 3% to 70% cost reduction wit different LC technology options, while recently introduced EV charging reimbursement shortens the period of investment in LC technology for 8 years.","PeriodicalId":295373,"journal":{"name":"2022 7th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies (SpliTech)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121929752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
