At present, the domestic production of petroleum and petrochemical products (e.g. from Dung Quat and Nghi Son refineries) is not enough to satisfy the domestic demand. It is forecasted that materials such as plastics (PE, PP, PVC, ABS, PS) and rubers (SBR, NBR) will still have to be imported to meet the development of some potentially sustainable areas such as electric and electronic appliances, automotive, medicals and pharmaceuticals. In this study, petrochemical production is evaluated on the following criteria: (i) Feedstock and product market; (ii) Historical and forecasted prices; (iii) Technology evaluation, and (iv) Trend and experience on crude oil to petrochemicals. Meanwhile, larger benthic foraminifera (LBF) have an important role in defining the stratigraphic range and the depositional environment of carbonate formations is recorded abundantly. The precise identification of LBF’s taxonomy depends on the recognition of its internal structures using polarised microscopes. \u0000Results from the study in the Central and South-eastern Nam Con Son basin show that LBF occurred frequently in the Miocene and, especially, became extremely dominant in the Middle Miocene. In the Early Miocene (Te5 - lower Tf1), they appeared sparsely in the Te5 but became abundant in the lower Tf1. In the Middle Miocene (middle Tf1 - Tf3), they were predominant and diverse in many genera and species, marked by the disappearance of Miogypsina, Miogypsinoides, Katacycloclypeus, and most of the species of Lepidocyclina and Cycloclypeus at the top of the sub-epoch. In the Late Miocene (Tg), LBF was not varied, mainly Amphistegina and Operculina. However, some significant species of the genus Lepidocyclina were extant and dwelled on the isolated carbonate platforms in the Southeast area of the basin. The association of larger benthic foraminifera with small millioids and rotalids, planktonic foraminifera, coral, and/or algae, crinoids, bivalves, etc., may implicate the palaeoenvironmental zone of the carbonate deposits in the wells of the studied region, ranging from the lagoon, shelves surrounding reef to relatively deep, open marine conditions. Production history matching is a vital link while building and completing the simulation model such that it accurately reflects reservoir behavior. In addition to the methods such as direct modification and automatic/assisted history matching, the authors propose a solution to improve the efficiency of history matching by applying the results of nonlinear signal processing methods and data point mapping method through interpolation algorithm. The method is applied for 3 water injection wells, 10 production wells at Miocene reservoir of the water flooding field X in Cuu Long Basin. The results show that the water-cut parameter of 7/10 production wells really improved in comparison to the initial model. The error of oil and liquid cumulative production in the simulation model compared to reality data respectively decreases from -2.8% to -0.3% and from +11.7% to less than 5%. In open hole completion, stand-alone sand screen is an essential component to prevent sand production, thus, selection of suitable sand screens is critical to minimize sand production and optimize the well’s production life. \u0000Nowadays, premium screens with steel meshes make the openings of the screen slots complex in shape, resulting in a very different effect of sand retention compared to the traditional screens. The sand retention test is considered a standard and must be conducted to select screen opening and size, which decides the sand prevention capacity of the screen. \u0000The paper presents the factors affecting the results of laboratory sand retention tests and proposes solution in the direction of considering the data trend rather than relying completely on the output results. The paper also brings about the evaluation method through the change the screen’s permeability to have better qualitative results compared to the traditional methods. Topics covered include: (i) pilot area selection, (ii) chemical preparation, (iii) specification and pilot design for execution, (iv) implementation, (v) pilot observation and interpretation, (vi) efficiency evaluation. The implementation of pilot projects is achieved on 23 January 2022. Before reducing the surface energy with 1H, 1H, 2H, 2H-perfluorodecyltriethoxysilane, the steel surface was electrodeposited by a micro/nanostructured ZnO layer for a controlled deposition time. The process resulted in the steel surfaces being superhydrophobic (contact angle of 165 ± 2o) and omniphobic with white oil, diesel oil (contact angle of 135 ± 2o) and paraffin (contact angle of 127 ± 2o). Local knowledge, scientific knowledge and public knowledge are required to associate toward the development of environmental sensitivity maps, particularly the identification of shoreline types and its sensitivity; compiling biology, human-use resource information; ranking, prioritising sensitive sites and resources at risk. Especially, the value of local knowledge has been recognised over time and the need for its effective integration into research and development has grown significantly.
