The diagnosis of malignant disease is a significant stressor in the life of a child and its family, significantly affecting the quality of life for the entire family. it constitutes the prototype of a stressful situation and a disease with a potentially devastating effect on the child and its family. This paper discusses 50 professional and scientific papers published between 1993 and 2022 that explore the needs and difficulties of parents of children with malignant diseases. To provide adequate help and care, a correct evaluation of the problem and parents’ needs is required. for the parents, the diagnosis of a malignant disease for their child constitutes a psy- chological and existential challenge. To meet the par- ents’ needs, as well as to ease their problems, further research – in most cases also supported by the parents themselves – is needed to help them cope with this extremely stressful and hard part of their lives.

When managing intracranial pressure (ICP)\u0000disorders, that is, deviations from the normal value (5 - 15 mmHg), it helps to\u0000understand the variability of cerebral blood volume and cerebrospinal fluid. \u0000 \u0000 Aim. To explore from a series of cases the impact of nursing\u0000interventions on the increase of intracranial pressure and the possibility of\u0000preventive action on possible oscillations of measured pressure values by modifying\u0000sedation and analgesia in order to avoid potentially negative effects on brain\u0000injury. \u0000\u0000 \u0000 Methods. The study included six patients, with the average\u0000age of 59 years, hospitalized between December 2018 and May 2019, on whom\u0000measurements were performed before, immediately after and 30 minutes after the\u0000end of a particular intervention using an external drainage and monitoring\u0000system. Intracranial pressures of patients in an induced coma were compared\u0000with those who were in a natural coma. \u0000\u0000 \u0000 Results. During morning nursing care and aspiration of\u0000secretions, an increase in the mean value of ICP was observed immediately after\u0000the intervention, but the t-test for dependent samples showed that it was not\u0000statistically significant, while in massaging patients with turning it to the side\u0000it was statistically significant. Combining all interventions into one, without\u0000categorization, there was also a statistically significant increase in\u0000intracranial pressure immediately upon completion of morning nursing care.\u0000After 30 minutes, the pressure values in all interventions approach the initial\u0000value and remain within the deviation of 1 mmHg. \u0000\u0000 \u0000 Conclusion. Most nursing interventions are associated with a\u0000slight increase in ICP that is not statistically significant. Greater\u0000oscillations were observed in patients in an induced coma than in those in a\u0000natural coma, which could probably have been avoided by even stricter titration\u0000of analgosedation immediately before and during nursing interventions.

The use of guidelines in the work of operating room nurses\u0000makes daily tasks easier and enables treatment in accordance with set\u0000procedures based on scientific evidence. Additionally, the use of set\u0000guidelines in the work of operating room nurses enables traceability of healthcare\u0000and the best care for the patient, which also increases the safety of the\u0000patient in the operating room during the perioperative period. \u0000\u0000 \u0000 Aim. The\u0000goal of this article is to investigate and determine if operating room nurses\u0000are aware of the guidelines, if they use them in their daily work, and if the\u0000guidelines are available at their workplace. The goal is also to determine the\u0000opinion of operating room nurses about legal protection that the guidelines\u0000provide in case of unforeseen events, as well as the necessary level of\u0000education of the personnel setting the guidelines, and the effect of the guidelines\u0000on the patient's safety in the operating room. Additionally, it is to determine\u0000if the use of the guidelines reduces inconsistencies in the work of operating room\u0000nurses in different hospitals, and which institutions are in charge of setting\u0000them. \u0000\u0000 \u0000 Methods. The\u0000survey for this research was conducted by the author of this paper and was distributed\u0000at the Congress of Operating Room Nurses in October of 2019. 210 operating room\u0000nurses completed the survey, being of different levels of formal education, and\u0000are employees of various Clinical Hospital Centres, Clinical Hospitals and\u0000General Hospitals in the Republic of Croatia. \u0000\u0000 \u0000 Results. According\u0000to the results of the survey, 90 respondents were Bachelors of Nursing, 60 respondents\u0000had a university degree, and 60 respondents had a high school diploma. The\u0000length of work experience of the operating room nurses who participated in the\u0000survey was between 1 and 30 years. The results of the research showed that the\u0000majority of operating room nurses were familiar with the existence of the\u0000guidelines and recommendations, and they used them in their work. Results show\u0000that most respondents are aware of the need to use the guidelines, and that they\u0000are available at their work place. Results also show that operating room nurses\u0000feel that the use of the guidelines has a very strong influence on the level of\u0000patient safety. Operating room nurses know that the guidelines provide legal protection\u0000and that the level of the nurses' education is important for setting the\u0000guidelines. \u0000\u0000 \u0000 Conclusion. Operating room nurses use the guidelines in daily work\u0000whenever they are applicable. Respondents have also developed an awareness of the\u0000obligation to use the guidelines, as well as their benefits in improving\u0000patient safety. They also provide legal protection in the event of unforeseen\u0000circumstances.

Patient safety during hospitalisation is one of the biggest\u0000concerns for hospitals worldwide and one obligation of all medical\u0000professionals is to create a safe environment for patients and prevent accidents.\u0000Approximately 50% of adverse events can be prevented with a systematic\u0000approach. \u0000\u0000 \u0000 Aim. This\u0000study aimed to examine the underlying dimensions and psychometric properties of\u0000the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture questionnaire in Croatian\u0000hospital settings, and to compare the results with the original questionnaire\u0000from the United States of America. \u0000 \u0000 Methods. The\u0000sample consisted of 438 nurses from four Croatian university hospitals. All participants\u0000signed an informed consent document, and the questionnaires were provided to\u0000the nurses in their units by the head nurses of their departments. Data\u0000analysis was performed using IBM SPSS 25.0. Bartlett's test of sphericity and\u0000the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) indicator were performed with Cronbach’s alpha test and sample standard deviation. \u0000\u0000 \u0000 Results. All\u0000factors explain the total of 59% of variance of the measured questionnaire. Additionally,\u0000the reliability of the entire questionnaire was determined by using the\u0000internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach’s alpha) on\u0000the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture with 12 of 0.88 particles, which\u0000is high internal consistency reliability. Our results show that the particles\u0000that make up the questionnaire are very homogeneous according to their object\u0000of measurement. \u0000 \u0000 Conclusion. The results of our study found that the survey can be applied\u0000to Croatian settings and used in hospitals. The\u0000aim of this research paper was to examine the nutritional habits of preschool\u0000children. \u0000 \u0000 Methods. The\u0000study was conducted in April 2018 and included a survey of kindergarten\u0000children and their parents. A questionnaire consisting of 24 questions was\u0000created for the purposes of the study. The survey was conducted entirely\u0000anonymously and voluntarily. Of the 100 respondents included in the study, 52%\u0000(52) were boys and 48% (48) were girls. The average age of the respondents was\u00005.12 years. \u0000 \u0000 Results. Out\u0000of a total of 100 children, 98% (98) have a hot meal every day, while 2% (2) do\u0000not. Cereals and cereal products are consumed by 97% of children, while 3%\u0000stated that they do not consume cereals. As with cereals, 97% of children use\u0000milk and dairy products, while only 3% do not consume them. 29 (76%) boys have\u0000normal body weight. Four (5%) were malnourished and 3 (8%) boys were\u0000overweight. 30 (70%) girls have normal body weight, 3 (7%) are malnourished,\u0000and one (2%) girl is overweight. 8 (21%) girls were obese. \u0000 \u0000 Conclusion. According to the obtained research results, it can be\u0000concluded that most of the examined children ate properly and had normal body\u0000weight. It is a worrying fact that most of the children consume sweets/snacks\u0000on a daily basis, while on the other hand a large number of surveyed children\u0000do not consume vegetables and fruits on a daily basis.
