The architecture allows combining existing research on explicit representations of collaborative learning processes (i.e. learning designs) with the availability of existing and tested collaborative learning tools (e.g. a forum in a VLE, an agent, a service or even a software component that provides a specific functionality). The architecture allows controlling the learning tools either by a human or a pedagogical agent and thus enables adaptive interventions to the flow of the learning activity. A mediator component is the key element in the proposed architecture. To prove the soundness of the architecture and the flexibility of its implementation an example scenario is illustrated. In this scenario IMS-LD based modeling and Copper core engine are used to implement adaptations by setting LD properties according to input from an external group formation tool. The whole process is mediated by an integration component provided to the teacher as a Moodle resource.","PeriodicalId":289890,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126060955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, although a number of such systems have been designed to meet accessibility needs and preferences for those groups, most of them anticipate special-purpose eTraining material and keep their eTraining activities local to the particular system in use. As a result, neither reuse of existing digital training resources (widely available nowadays in web-based repositories) nor sharing of best technology-facilitated training practices among the communities of educational practitioners and training organizations, is supported by these systems. Within this context, in this paper we present the eAccess2Learn Framework which aims at providing tools and services that facilitate the design and development of accessible eTraining Resources and Courses that bare the potential to be inter-exchanged between different eTraining Platforms and Programmes, thus, making them potentially exploitable and re-usable between different disabled user groups.","PeriodicalId":289890,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133435573","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Loss of control and ownership coupled with an ever increasing set of policies, regulations and directives, makes decision-making and response enactment particularly difficult. The Symptoms Automation Framework supports and promotes collaboration and automated responses to changing conditions. Further, it enables knowledge sharing and interoperation between different stakeholders in the Cloud domain. In this paper we present the problems SAF is trying to solve pertaining to Cloud business alignment, and discuss our experiences using and developing the framework and the use cases.","PeriodicalId":289890,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134053700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An important requirement is a good quality of the discovery, i.e. the selection of results very related to a specific request. Keys used for indexing and the corresponding urls of indexed resources are stored in a distributed hash table scattered among the different peers of a community. A key is a semantic description of resources and refers to concepts and properties belonging to ontologies. We propose a system based on Indexing Patterns in order to generate keys. It is used to guide users for producing assertions about their resources. It induces a navigation inside ontologies presented in graphical user interfaces in a friendly and easy to use way. With different examples, we present the main cases of key generation that define the indexing context of a resource.","PeriodicalId":289890,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126504780","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Event detection functionality of WSNs can be of great help and importance for (near) real-time detection of, for example, meteorological natural hazards and wild and residential fires. From the data-mining perspective, many real world events exhibit specific patterns, which can be detected by applying machine learning (ML) techniques. In this paper, we introduce ML techniques for distributed event detection in WSNs and evaluate their performance and applicability for early detection of disasters, specifically residential fires. To this end, we present a distributed event detection approach incorporating a novel reputation-based voting and the decision tree and evaluate its performance in terms of detection accuracy and time complexity.","PeriodicalId":289890,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"453 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125787462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to develop these systems and fulfil the intended requirements it is necessary to identify which factors define an intelligent and interactive system - not only from the scientific and developing perspective but mainly from the perspective of the prospective users. The interaction and the perceived as well as the projected qualities of an object will determine the personal benefit and impact on behaviour which a system will have as the user adjusts and interacts with this system based on the mental representations formed before and while interacting with the system. In order to assure that the expectations of the user are met by the technology and thereby facilitate and reinforce the mental representations and models regarding the functioning, meaning and personal link with the technology the behaviour and personality of the user need to be carefully profiled.","PeriodicalId":289890,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128934546","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
