In the context of energy saving, Green Interleaved Polling with Adaptive Cycle Time (G-IPACT) is proposed as a medium access control (MAC) scheme to improve the energy efficiency of next-generation passive optical networks (NG-PONs). For energy saving, the sleep mode of each Optical Network Unit (ONU) is activated considering packet queue lengths for both upstream and downstream traffic simultaneously. This integrated approach for sleep mode activation is in accordance with the desired QoS requirements and avoids needless ONU sleeping. The impact of the proposed integrated approach for improving energy efficiency is evaluated and compared with the baseline case in which the sleep mode is activated based on upstream traffic only. Simulation results validate the need of joint consideration of upstream and downstream traffic to avoid excessive delay in downstream and upstream transmissions. Under the condition that the maximum movement of the lens is comparable to the focal length of the lens, a higher maximum optical attenuation (e.g., >30 dB) can be accomplished under a shorter focal-length (e.g., <;100 □m) lens. The FOIVs can, basically, be classified into 4 main types: Michelson, Mach-Zehnder, Sagnac, and Fabry-Perot interferometers respectively. However, a fiber based Fabry-Perot interferometric vibrometer has thus been demonstrated for the research proposed. By using the excitation frequency range of 10-500 Hz to the moving target, the output displacement measured by the fiber interferometer can thus be obtained of 0.65-4.58 μm over 20 times of repeatability. Moreover, the output displacement range of 1.1-15.06 μm has also been resulted when the variation of excitation amplitude of 300-3,000 mV are employed. Results show that the mode birefringence of proposed PCF with rectangular air holes at λ= 1.55 μm reaches 8.1 × 10-2 (which is the highest value to our knowledge) and the confinement loss is less than 5×10-3 dB/km, respectively. Transport of energy flow due to surface plasmon coupling is investigated using finite element method for visible range wavelengths. The proposed waveguide is divided into several sections with each section consisting of ten nanorods. In particular, the major cause of greenhouse gas and environmental pollution is the automobile industry. Research is taking place to on materials to reduce a vehicles weight. In this paper, the Out-of-plane ESPI method was used to measure the internal defect of low weight and high pressure vessels. ESPI measurement method has many advantages. One advantage is that it is not only non-destructive and a non-contacting form of measurement, but it also does real time and precise measurements. The Out-of-plane ESPI system is a measurement of the deformation of an object. Therefore, it is very difficult to measure internal defect length by the Out-of-plane ESPI system. In the case of when deformation is converted into strain it is possible to measure internal defect length, because strain indicates a stress concentration. In the current flying height tester, the prediction of error is the main concern in order to assure the attainable precision. In previous study, a simplified analytical method is normally used and it may not provide the accurate results of the error prediction especially when the amount of the flying height values becoming as low as sub-5 nm. In this paper, instead of using the analytical method for error analysis, the numerical method based on Monte-Carlo techniques is utilized. Our simulation results show that the measurement uncertainty is mainly from the variation in the optical constants of the DLC layer. In the proposed architecture, we design new ONU mechanisms, which support traffic redirection communication among ONUs in combination with caching. Thus, it can reduce the resource consumption and add extra downstream bandwidth at the OLT since the intra-PON traffic is not necessary to be buffered and scheduled in the downstream direction. Finally, we proposed a “Redirect” Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation (REDIRECT DBA) scheme, which can support intra-PON traffic and inter-traffic bandwidth allocation.
