Shu","doi":"10.1109/ICHVE.2010.5640740","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ICHVE.2010.5640740","url":null,"abstract":"In this paper, the DC flashover characteristics of iced insulator strings were explored in the multi-functional artificial climate chamber through four methods, namely, the average flashover voltage method, the minimum flashover voltage method, the maximum withstand method and the 50% withstand method, with the typical DC porcelain insulator strings and composite insulators. During installation the outer layer of the cable is hydrophobic and is not prone to dry band arcing. But, these cables becomes less hydrophobic over time and therefore vulnerable to dry band arcing. This loss in hydrophobicity occurs because of the contamination formed on the outer layer due to pollution. This is one of the reasons for cable failure. Considerable amount of losses will be incurred on the occurrence of a cable failure as these cables are leased to other companies. In this paper typical models are shown and their corresponding voltage distribution and current distribution are calculated. This could be used to predict dry band arcing on the models. Similar equipment rated 230 kV, 550 kVac and 500 kVdc has been tested only under special circumstances, and as a result has experienced a higher failure rate in service. A high voltage test facility is currently under construction in Winnipeg that has been designed for full dielectric testing of equipment rated up to 550 kVac and 500 kVdc. The original intent was for testing of instrument transformers, bushings and aerial devices. Substations where power transformers are coupled to GIS, such signals are presented as a potential source of failure as a function of dielectric request imposed. This device is basically a variable \"gap\" made of special spheres, inserted in a pressurized SF6 compartment between a SF6/Air passing bushing and a 6power transformer. The tree inception voltage was observed for different types of samples. The tree initiation time as well as the tree growth patterns at a fixed ac voltage have also been studied. The results show that there is an improvement in tree inception voltage with nano filler loading in polyethylene. Different tree growth patterns for both the unfilled polyethylene and the polyethylene nanocomposites have been observed. A slower tree growth was observed in polyethylene nanocomposites. The partial discharge characteristics of unfilled and nano filled polyethylene samples during the electrical tree growth period was also studied. Decrease in PD magnitude as well as in the number of pd pulses with electrical tree growth duration in polyethylene nanocomposites has also been observed. This paper describes the development of a theoretical model to predict DC flashover voltages of polluted polymeric insulators. Seven kinds of common power system over-voltages are analyzed by HHT, results show that the instantaneous amplitude spectrum, Hilbert marginal spectrum, Hilbert time-frequency spectrum can be used as characteristic parameters for different types of over-voltage classification and identification. A hierarchical recognition system is built based on HHT and SVM, and the system is tested by field over-voltage signals. A new specialized devices are introduced to enhance supervising ability. We demonstrate that the usage of efficient network communication simplifies their application, integration with existing systems, maintenance and service. We present a list of messages, warnings and alarms which was created to inform directly and quickly about dangers and expanding incorrect processes. A dissolved gases in oil detection method is presented based on carbon nanotubes sensor. A kind of MWNTs (Multi-wall carbon nanotubes) gas sensor modified by mixed acid was developed based on printed circuit board to detect dissolved gases in oil. The electrical properties and gas sensing response mechanism of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was analyzed. The gas sensing response for dissolved gases in oil was tested using the MWNTs sensor in the laboratory.
