Major portion of this energy is utilized in the heating of the enclosure gases resulting in the significant pressure rise inside the chamber. Objective of the simulation model developed is to improve design efficiency, increased safety, and especially to minimise real-world testing. Internal arc parameters such as pressure rise in various compartment, exhaust gas temperature, indicator temperature and pressure on panel walls are investigated with CFD simulation methodology. A 3-D CFD simulation of high temperature gases in LV/MV panel is carried out with coupled interactions between flow, temperature, turbulence and radiation fields taken into account. The internal temperature and pressure rise due to internal arc at different locations in breaker, cable and busbar compartment were compared. The same is used further to analyse structural forces and stresses on the panel members. Temperature rise at different locations on indicator walls which are modelled at a distance of 300 mm from panel were estimated from simulation. Visualization of the temperature, pressure and flow field is possible with CFD model.","PeriodicalId":286358,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Computer Applications In Electrical Engineering-Recent Advances (CERA)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128182703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed algorithm is consisting of signal processing technique based on wavelet transform (WT), a Time Series Time Delay Artificial Neural Network (TSDNN) based prediction network and an error predicting algorithm (EP) based on TSDNN. A comprehensive comparative analysis using the proposed hybrid model, with the specified data from ISO New England website shows significant improvement in forecast error by more than 71.8% for daily price forecasts. Furthermore, a high degree of accuracy of the proposed model is established due to low values obtained for the root mean square error (RMS) and mean absolute error (MAE). The analysis of the performance of the algorithm using both, standard and new performance parameters-Are done to measure the robustness of the proposed hybrid intelligent model. In addition, the rapid adaptability of the proposed hybrid model is also evaluated using the ISO NE electricity market.","PeriodicalId":286358,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Computer Applications In Electrical Engineering-Recent Advances (CERA)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128220954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To reduce the effect of speckle noise in the extraction of FOS, in this paper it is proposed to remove some of the pixels from both sides of the lower and higher pixel intensities arranged in order of intensity of an image, before the evaluation of FOS features. It is somewhat similar to alpha-trimmed filtering of images and hence in this paper this enhanced FOS method is called as alpha-trimmed FOS. To show the effectiveness of the proposed alpha-trimmed FOS method, features extracted from this method are used for the classification of liver ultrasound images and the classification accuracy obtained is compared with the accuracy obtained using the features extracted from normal FOS method. In the paper performance of proposed method is evaluated using two classifiers (Neural network and SVM). For alpha-trimmed FOS features, best accuracy obtained by neural network is 66.86% which is far better than the classification accuracy of 34.91% obtained with normal FOS features. Classification accuracy obtained by SVM with alpha-trimmed FOS features is 59.76% which is better as compared to accuracy of 53.85% obtained with normal FOS features.","PeriodicalId":286358,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Computer Applications In Electrical Engineering-Recent Advances (CERA)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128639449","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since inertia of the system is small, any disturbance in load will cause electromechanical oscillations which degrades the power quality(both voltage and frequency) of the system. Center of inertia technique (COI) is used to estimate the system frequency which is used for controlling SMES unit. SMES unit is used to modulate the active power using an adaptive predictive control scheme which generates reference power for the SMES and forces it to follow the power command. Reactive power control is achieved by SVC. Both SMES and SVC are modelled as controlled current sources and act as sources/sinks of active and reactive power respectively. Simulation results show that the deviations in voltage and frequency are reduced considerably by incorporation of SMES and SVC at a specified bus in the system.","PeriodicalId":286358,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Computer Applications In Electrical Engineering-Recent Advances (CERA)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121464324","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is also true for PV fed cascaded H-bridge (CHB) multilevel converter. Thus the grid current supplied by the converter is unbalanced which is not desirable in balanced grid system. For supplying balanced three phase current, a common mode voltage is added with the pole voltages of CHB converter. It circulates active and reactive power in the phase clusters and allows balanced three phase power to be supplied to the grid. This paper presents a geometrical approach to calculate common mode voltage during unequal power level on three phase cluster. The capacitor voltage balancing of individual cluster and cell are also presented during different power level in the cell. Mathematical derivation of common mode voltage based on unequal phase cluster power are also included in the paper. Phase shifted Sinusoidal Pulse width modulation (SPWM) technique is used to operate the CHB multilevel converter. Simulation results of three phase current balancing during non-uniform radiation are verified using Matlab/Simulink.","PeriodicalId":286358,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Computer Applications In Electrical Engineering-Recent Advances (CERA)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114792869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the demonstration purpose, rolling moment control and stability derivatives of ATAS aircraft are extracted from the recorded flight data of nonlinear flight profile. Fuzzy logic based Takagi Sugeno Kang (TSK) model is used to represent the nonlinear dynamics of the aircraft, which can approximate it into several locally linear models. The method shows its benefit in case when it becomes very difficult to identify the equilibrium points (trim points) due to cross coupling and nonlinear complexities associated with modern aircraft. The grid based Rusipini type fuzzy partitions are used for input spaces and two triangular type membership functions are generated per input from the training data set. The fuzzy rules are extracted based on weighted least square algorithms and each rule corresponds to local linear model for mimicking of aerodynamic (control and stability) derivatives. Fivefold cross validation method is used to access the adequacy of the generated fuzzy model. The parameter tracking trends and mean square error for training and testing data sets show commendable modeling capability of TSK fuzzy model for extraction of aerodynamic derivatives.","PeriodicalId":286358,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Computer Applications In Electrical Engineering-Recent Advances (CERA)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131082840","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is sixth-order topology, where its gain characteristic is contributed by a non-linear numerator term while denominator preserves the quadratic dependence. To examine the proposed converter performance, a detailed time-domain and steady-state analysis is presented. The L, C components expressions, along with steady-state operating point, are formulated in terms of ripple quantities. The state-space models are derived, for continuous inductor current-mode of operation, and then small-signal analysis is performed to identify the nature of the proposed converter during dynamics. Later on these transfer functions are used in the digital controller design. The proposed circuit is able to boost the load voltage to a higher value than the traditional quadratic boost converter reported in literature. A 48 V, 50 Watt prototype point of load converter with 12 V dc-battery as input is built to supply the power at constant load voltage. The proposed converter features are demonstrated both in simulations and experimentation.","PeriodicalId":286358,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Computer Applications In Electrical Engineering-Recent Advances (CERA)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126517799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Under the effect of excess electrical field, the voids present in the insulation may go through breakdown, giving rise to the phenomenon of partial discharges. Repeated occurrence of partial discharges through a long period of time may lead to complete insulation failure. The partial discharge activity is dependent on the applied voltage, shape, size and location of voids and presence of minor protrusions on the conductor surface. In this study, the effect of all these factors was studied using a simulation model based on Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software. Three different void geometries were considered and their effect on partial discharge inception voltage, both in the presence and absence of protrusions, was studied. The location of the voids was also varied in the simulation study. From this work, an improved understanding of partial discharge within power cable insulation as well as its relationship with void geometry and location can be obtained.","PeriodicalId":286358,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Computer Applications In Electrical Engineering-Recent Advances (CERA)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121366309","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The SLMK based control scheme serves manifold objectives such as load balancing, improve solar power penetration into the distributed network and power factor correction. The SLMK algorithm is used to extract weights of fundamental load current for each phase. Test results show satisfactory performance for a proposed system under steady state and dynamic conditions such as load unbalancing, variable solar insolation.
