Fuzzy Inference Engine in Condition Monitoring of Industrial Equipment: An Overview 模糊推理机在工业设备状态监测中的应用综述

Fuzzy logic systems are well known for their ability to deal with data complexity for better analysis and interpretation. A basic fuzzy logic system consists of four essential parts, among which is the fuzzy inference engine. A fuzzy inference engine is a framework that describes the actual process of converting inputs into outputs using fuzzy logic. However, some challenges have been recognizable in the fuzzy inference engine. Given this, the study aims to systematically review existing literature trends on approaches used for determining parameters of the fuzzy inference system. Specifically, the study examines the methods of assigning membership functions and rules. The study further discusses the contributions of membership functions and rules on fuzzy inference and fuzzy logic systems. Then the study concludes that the system’s parameters are configured based on the problem size and type. Also, there is no standard method of defining or improving parameters to advance the system’s performance. Furthermore, a substantial interrelation between parameters affects the inference system results. Therefore, the study also proposes new ideas for expanding the literature on inference system parameters to improve the overall system’s effectiveness. Moreover, the study recommended future research to be on studies that investigate the contribution of individual parameters on the inference engine. This will enable monitoring of the parameter’s level of impact and the shortcomings of these effects on the inference engine performance. Lastly, a study focusing on the rule reduction methods and the acceptable conditions for carrying out rule reduction is recommended. In this paper, the effect of preheating on the mechanical properties of similar friction stir welded plates were investigated. Copper plates were preheated at 450, 550 and 650°C and welded at a rotational speed of 600rpm, a constant transverse speed of 400 mm/min, and a plunge depth of 3,5mm using a cylindrical pin profile. The welded samples were characterized by optical microscope. Tensile and hardness tests were conducted following the ASTM E8-04 and ASTM E92- 82 respectively. The results showed the stir zone consists of fine and equiaxed recrystallized grains with precipitates compared to the parent material. The effect of preheating showed a decrease in the tensile strength of the joint. Recent advances in the development of brake discs and pads have witnessed the use of organic and cost-effective materials, which are less harmful to the human health and the environment. In view of this, this study aims to investigate the some mechanical properties of the automotive brake pads and discs developed from locally sourced materials. First, the design calculations were carried out to establish the tangential force between pad and rotor (inner and outer face), the braking torque and distance as well as the amount of heat generated through braking. Secondly, the Abaqus explicit mode was employed for the investigation of the wear, stress, strain analysis. In the analysis of successive interactions of the thermal and mechanical forces on the brake disc and pads, the static general and thermal steps were created and successively invoked. The thermal analysis was first carried and subsequently invoked as the initial conditions for the analysis of mechanical forces in the static general analysis step in order to determine the wear, stress and strain distributions when the brake disc and pad works under the required conditions. The results obtained indicated that with Kevlar 29 stood out as the most suitable material in terms of heat resistance. However, for the brake disc, the materials exhibited different behaviours under the same required service conditions when combined with Kevlar 29. Thus, in order to determine the most suitable material, there may be a need to consider other factors such as cost, manufacturability, strength etc. In addition, there may be a need to carry out optimisation of the process parameters such as the braking temperature and pressure. Aeolian vibration is one of the most common vibrations caused by high frequency and low amplitude. Although other wind motion vibrations cause fatigue failures on transmission lines, Aeolian vibrations account for a greater percentage of these fatigue failures. Various devices have been developed, designed, and implemented to minimise vibrations on power lines. The Stockbridge damper is one of the standard dampers that is used. The fundamental understanding of the asymmetric Stockbridge damper is studied in this review paper. The focus is on the mechanism of the damper, resonance frequencies, and amplitudes of vibrations. At some point, the dust escapes into the atmosphere and pollutes the air and environment. A dry Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) was required in order to minimize the pollution. It was designed using Autodesk Inventor Professional software. A numerical simulation was conducted using the boundary conditions to determine the separator efficiencies, particle resident times and particle velocities at different cases. ANSYS 2022 R2 Fluent was used to perform simulation. The results of the simulations are in good agreement with those in the literature study, such as the number of elements and velocity of the particles.
