Geographic Information Systems (GIS) platforms are needed to be implemented with the capability of dealing with the massive spatial data, especially image data. Thus these platforms need computational power and high capacity data storage. Nowadays Cloud Computing is one of the most popular IT solutions for GIS. It serves tremendous computing resources over the Internet. Users do not need to know neither the location of the servers which the applications run on nor the data storages their information is collected. The rise of Cloud Computing is making notable change in various areas of information technology. GIS technology users are one of the first customers to explore the cloud-based applications and its benefits. Users take the advantage of sharing spatial data and applications using the cloud. Therefore massive spatial data storages fit into cloud instead of transferring the data via the network.","PeriodicalId":285002,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 5th International Conference on Recent Advances in Space Technologies - RAST2011","volume":"226 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122349504","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

GenSim is able to run software simulator models which follow ESA SMP/SMI standard. But also GenSim has to handle HILS with real I/O card, e.g. MIL-STD-1553B card or RS-422 digital I/O board to communicate with real spacecraft equipments. So GenSim has various shapes according to the usage and may take some limitation of speed to run it as realtime. To overcome this limitation, GenSim is designed to cooperate with remote GenSim which is separated by physically but connected by ethernet connection. In this case, GenSim is split with two or more simulator parts and there are some communication and synchronization mechanisms which are needed to maintain connection between the separated simulator parts. Some parts may take a role of simulator controller and other parts may take a role of external I/O simulator for interfacing with real spacecraft components.","PeriodicalId":285002,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 5th International Conference on Recent Advances in Space Technologies - RAST2011","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127407725","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The quasi-equilibrium glide condition based on constant flight path angle is adopted. The vehicle heading is adjusted to firing plane using lateral guidance logic firstly, and then the range-to-go is calculated from the terminal position constraint. The needed flight path angle is calculated based on the range-to-go using the analytical relationship between range and flight path angle. The angle of attack is adjusted to control the trajectory to satisfy the quasi-equilibrium glide condition with the needed flight path angle. By the means, the quasi-equilibrium glide auto-adaptive guidance which meets the terminal position constraints is achieved. For the situation with terminal velocity constraint, the control variable bank angle is corrected according to the difference between the expected and predicted terminal velocity which is acquired analytically in each guidance period. The guidance algorithm is validated via a three-dimensional trajectory guidance simulation which results indicate that the quasi-equilibrium glide auto-adaptive guidance performs well.","PeriodicalId":285002,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 5th International Conference on Recent Advances in Space Technologies - RAST2011","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129710546","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study aims to obtain the best orientation of STC that minimizes the uncertainty of georeferencing. Precision of georeferencing is estimated by Differential Sensitivity Analysis (DSA) based on partial derivatives of input parameters which contains certain amount of uncertainty. Uncertainties of interior camera parameters, camera position, image timing and digital elevation model (DEM) are included in the precision estimation procedure of the georeferencing. Uncertainties of these parameters are assumed to be normally distributed and the confidence interval for the input parameters are obtained from the manufacturers and the vendors. Orbit of BilSAT on the 3rd of August 2005 is used for the optimization analysis. Interior camera parameters are assigned in reasonable ranges for a small satellite. Analysis are conducted for the imaging geometry of 0°, 5°, 10°, 15°, and 20° cross-track rotations of the camera with respect to body fixed reference system of the satellite. Sum of the obtained georeferencing precisions is considered as the objective function to be minimized. Optimization procedure searches the optimum solution in the plane of two variables; pitch and yaw angles of the STC with respect to body fixed reference system of the satellite. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is implemented for the search of the optimum solution.","PeriodicalId":285002,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 5th International Conference on Recent Advances in Space Technologies - RAST2011","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124608494","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

RASAT is a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) observation microsatellite with a mass of around 100 kg. The main purpose of this mission is remote sensing with use of a high resolution optical imager. The communication subsystem is one of the primary systems for Earth observation satellites. It is used for telecommand/telemetry signaling besides downlink data transfer. In RASAT's communication subsystem, there are mainly five modules. For commissioning phase and as back-up of the downlink/uplink operations, Ultra High Frequency (UHF) / Very High Frequency (VHF) modules are used. The primary uplink is provided by the S-Band receivers and the primary downlink is provided by the S-Band transmitters on-board. X-Band transmitter module, which is designed and developed by engineers at TUBITAK-UZAY, is the experimental payload of RASAT communication subsystem.","PeriodicalId":285002,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 5th International Conference on Recent Advances in Space Technologies - RAST2011","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121347019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem of the formation of high-quality multi-look SAR images under unstable aircraft flight conditions is solved with a built-in geometric correction algorithm together with a radiometric correction approach with an extended number of looks. A novel technique for 3D topography retrieving with a conventional strip-map SAR is described. New benefits from building multi-looks SAR images are demonstrated. The proposed solutions are supported by radar data obtained with a Ku-band airborne SAR.","PeriodicalId":285002,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 5th International Conference on Recent Advances in Space Technologies - RAST2011","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115518262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Especially their road maps change by the expansion of the urban region. Therefore, automatic detection of roads from very high resolution aerial and satellite images is a very important research field. Unfortunately, the solution is not straightforward by using basic image processing and computer vision algorithms. Therefore, advanced methods are needed for road network detection from aerial and satellite images. In this study, we propose a novel method for automatic detection of road segments from very high resolution color aerial and satellite images. Our method depends on choosing a training set from the input image manually. We use color chroma values of pixels as the discriminative features. Since road pixels have similar color characteristics, the distribution of color chroma feature values of the training region have a peak at a certain point in the feature space which shows the road class. Using this information and one-class classification methodology, we label road segments in a given remotely sensed image. Finally, we fit a road network shape on the detected segment. Experimental results on color aerial and Ikonos satellite images show the importance of color features in road detection applications.","PeriodicalId":285002,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 5th International Conference on Recent Advances in Space Technologies - RAST2011","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130664625","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The usual flight ascent optimization faces in this case additional constraints, which must be solved with minimum losses of mass efficiency of the vehicle. A methodology of investigating the best ascent control laws is presented with emphasize on the second stage of the vehicle, regarding both the gas-dynamic controller system of the control unit and the accuracy of the inertial sensors of the self-guidance onboard system. The methodology is also focused on accommodating the high orbital insertion requirements of the gravity turn trajectory with a low-cost, highly secure flight controller system. Minimum technological modifications of the existing rocket propulsion system of the second stage are considered, which is a typical liquid propellant stage with aerodynamic and gas-dynamic attitude controls. Possible technological solutions are analyzed and compared regarding the accessibility of the ascent trajectories and optimal constrained solutions to the safety problem. The constraints are of safety, technological and international nature.","PeriodicalId":285002,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 5th International Conference on Recent Advances in Space Technologies - RAST2011","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123940447","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
