The condition for maximum efficiency is analytically derived as the ratio of control input and the state variable of state equations in a synchronously rotating reference frame. A synthesis method that attains maximum efficiency and very fast response by simultaneous vector control and speed control is proposed. The stator voltage is controlled as a vector quantity on the basis of a decoupling approach. The principle of decoupling control, the determination of the voltage, and the flux regulation are discussed. Numerical and experimental results are given for an induction motor drive with low acoustic noise, which is obtained by the proposed method. The stability condition and the indicial response for the changes of the input voltage and the load are defined as a function of the circuit parameters and variables of the digital control circuit and the power stage. The operation of a forward converter with an LC snubber is first examined. The energy loss in the switching transistor is then evaluated, and the condition that minimizes this energy loss is determined. The optimum size of the snubber capacitor is derived from the evaluation of transistor energy loss and surge voltage. A parallel scheme is used that causes a voltage resonant waveform across the primary of the transformer. Though the coreless transformer has a relatively low coupling factor, the voltage resonant mode ensures effective power transfer. The circuit configuration and performance are discussed, and the circuit is analyzed. The augmented buck and the augmented boost converters realize higher step-down and step-up ratios, respectively, under a given switch duty ratio by proper design of the turn ratios of the transformer and coupled inductor. The switching power amplifier achieves four-quadrant output by the use of two bidirectional current switches and a single power supply, while the inverse converter can be used as a switching controlled rectifier. The observed forward voltage drop was 9 V at 4.2 K and was six times larger than that at room temperature. The voltage was quickly reduced to 1 V after the diode was turned on. The transition time was less than 1 ms. Since the estimation of the stator flux is independent of the leakage, the steady-state performance of the stator-flux-oriented system is insensitive to the leakage inductance. A decoupler is designed to minimize the coupling in the stator-flux reference frame, improving the dynamic performance of the system.
