We use the concept of separation of concerns to represent the content layer and the location layer. This separation allows reusing the layers independently one of each other. The focus of this paper is to provide an end-user tool to create location-aware applications in-situ. By using our tool, the location-aware experiences can be defined in both indoor and outdoor spaces. We present an example of how our tool is used and we describe some discussion points that have occurred to us while defining a tool with these characteristics.

We start by explaining why the mere act of visualization can be highly useful to readers, helping them discover patterns and comprehend information. Backed by historical references, we will describe how some of the first data visualizations were used to explain facts, understand certain events, and determine courses of action. We will then outline how storytelling and narrative techniques are being currently used with data visualization to leverage the power of visual expression. Our goal is to characterize storytelling with data as a vibrant and interesting field that current journalism practices employ to help readers understand and form opinions on complex facts. By presenting concepts like storytelling with data and data stories, we aim to spark interest in further research in the applications of data visualization and narrative.

This is a problem because there is a relationship between the affordances and characteristics of the technology, and the poetics of our storytelling using that technology. In essence, different types of technology are good for telling different types of story in different ways, and yet technology is developed without any sense of its embedded poetics, and writers are left to experiment with the results. For example, location-based systems are now common, and there are many apps that experiment with location and storytelling, but the poetics of location-based narratives are poorly understood, and thus have not informed the development of those apps. In this paper we present a research framework, drawing on techniques from participatory design, UX, and Games Design, for exploring how writers can be involved in the process of building new software and as a result co-create both location-based technology and new location-based narrative forms.

Consuming PROV data can be hard for both technical and non-technical users, because of its potential scale and the complexity of the relationships captured. Explicitly, it can be hard for users to follow and understand the chain of relationships connecting elements together. In this paper, we present a preliminary approach that generates narratives explaining chains of relationships and describe its nature with examples from a Ride Share application.

These avatars can also shape the behaviour of individuals, and their interactions with groups of users. Here, we make the case that there is scope for investigation into how avatars impact argumentation in virtual spaces, particularly how they alter the types of argumentation tactics that are used, and discuss some of the challenges that need to be addressed when researching this area.

This workshop aims to provide an interdisciplinary forum to bring together individuals from the humanities and technological communities to share work and discuss state-of-the-art research on narrative from both a technical and aesthetic perspective. Narrative is a prevalent form of information common in our entertainment and communications, and key to our understanding of the world and its events. By building better models of narrative along with methods for generation, adaption, and presentation we enable narrative systems to become more effective but also improve our understanding of narrative structures. There is a growing community of researchers working on narrative systems, hypertext narratives, and machine readable narrative models, for which this workshop seeks to act as a hub to review advances and to discuss what the field might achieve in the coming year. \u0000 \u0000The program committee reviewed and accepted the following: Reviewed 8 -- Accepted 8 Short Papers 100% \u0000 \u0000The high acceptance rate reflects the high quality of work submitted to this workshop. We encourage attendees to attend the presentations of these papers at the workshop, as well as our program of discussions.

We have created an application following this model, which is also combined with actors? performances. This application defines three relevant locations inside a specific building. By reading a QR-code the user indicates that he/she has arrived at one of those locations. In that moment, the application triggers some questions related to the actors' performances. Hence, the user is required to see all the plays in order to be able to answer such questions. The application assists the user in moving throughout the different locations. We present the evaluation of this application and then we discuss interesting aspects that have shown up as a result of the in-situ evaluation of this application.
