Osteomyelitis is found to be true bacterial infection affecting the jaw bone. Different types of osteomyelitis which are distinguishable are acute osteomyelitis, primary chronic osteomyelitis and secondary chronic osteomyelitis of the jaw. The main characteristic features of the osteomyelitis of the jaw are, formation of the fistula, suppuration, and sequestration of the jaw bone. Different treatment modalities of the osteomyelitis of the jaw include surgery, debridement of the lesion superficially and curettage and in non surgical approach it includes usage of proper antibiotics, usage of topical agents, usage of hyperbaric oxygen, local anesthetic solution.","PeriodicalId":282949,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Maxillofacial Imaging","volume":"38 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139437275","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During odontoma development, enamel and dentin can be deposited in such a way that the resulting structures show anatomically similar to normal teeth structures. odontomes were classified according to their developmental origin as epithelial, composite (epithelial and mesodermal), and connective tissues. According to the WHO classification, odontomes can be divided into three groups such as complex, compound, and ameloblastic fibro-odontomes. Compound odontomas commonly occur in the incisor-canine region of the maxilla and complex odontomas are frequently located in the premolar and molar region of both jaws.","PeriodicalId":282949,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Maxillofacial Imaging","volume":"50 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139437332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

SMMCI is a very rare abnormality in developing stage of fetus involving the tooth germs of central incisor. The most common systemic association is with holoprosencephaly, and diagnosis in early stage is of utmost importance for managing dental aesthetic issue patient generally suffers from the syndrome. The objective of current article is to discuss two cases of SMMCI syndrome; one with systemic involvement having esophageal Artesia, a rare entity with SMMCI syndrome and the other one without systemic involvement. In both cases, patient’s parents were not aware of the dental anomaly the child was suffering, and parents were highlighted on treatment options in managing such dental cases. As there are a significant number of SMMCI syndrome cases with systemic involvement and other developmental problems, it becomes prudent to have a quick and prompt diagnosis in initial stages of life and simultaneously the management approach becomes multidisciplinary.","PeriodicalId":282949,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Maxillofacial Imaging","volume":"46 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139437489","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The compensation of it is of long-drawn-out and demands for an immediate regimen. In these circumstances, it’s the immediate implants placement which offers a simple choice for replacing the lost tooth immediately and hence it is currently considered as a golden treatment modality for replacing a missing tooth. The added benefits of it are less time consuming, involves few steps of surgical procedures and minimal bone resorption as it helps in preserving the vitality of bone receptors immediately after extraction thereby helps in gaining high rates of success of dental implants placed. Here in this article, we are reporting a successful case of immediate implant placed at maxillary anterior canine region which rendered a complete satisfaction to the patient and as well as professionally.","PeriodicalId":282949,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Maxillofacial Imaging","volume":"40 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139437201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to certain factors these treatments may be contraindicated. In that case Lesion Sterilization and Tissue Repair (LSTR) therapy is the better option to be preferred. The process of LSTR is to increase the longevity of the primary tooth. This procedure eliminates, sterilizes the canal system, repairs and regenerates the tissue. It needs minimal instrumentation and includes placement of an antibiotic mixture in the pulp chamber to disinfect the root canals. It is also known as Non-instrumental endodontic treatment (NIET).","PeriodicalId":282949,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Maxillofacial Imaging","volume":"42 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139437128","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Teledentistry is considered as a subset of telemedicine that utilizes telecommunication network and for transfer of relevant clinical data and images for dental diagnosis and treatment planning. Tele-oral-radiology is considered as a subspeciality of Teleradiology and is still in an emerging phase in many nations including India. Adoption of Teleradiology practices enable the Teleradiologist to enjoy the freedom of working from any location and alleviates the problem of overnight specialty coverage. Even though teleradiology has numerous advantages it is bound for certain limitations as well. Literature reports have found tele-oral-radiology to be beneficial in aiding general dental practitioners in the diagnosis and interpretation of oral and maxillofacial radiographs. The aim of this paper is to provide a brief about Tele-Oral-Radiology practice.","PeriodicalId":282949,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Maxillofacial Imaging","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125126120","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is now a wealth of information indicating that untreated sleep apnea is associated with an increased risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular event, a higher propensity of sudden death during sleep and a greater risk for stroke and all-cause mortality. Consequently, OSA represents a significant evolving public health challenge in both the developed and developing world. Currently many cases of obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome are unrecognized which leads to unnecessary morbidity and even mortality. By posing a few additional questions during the routine clinical interview, patients in need for further diagnostic testing can be easily identified. The best methods of diagnosis are costly and increased sophistication of screening devices and interpreting physicians are required to reduce the need for full polysomnography. CBCT, with its 3D presentation of the airway and its surrounding structures, offers the increased visualization of both untreated obstruction tendencies and potentially of changes in the airway by treatment modality.","PeriodicalId":282949,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Maxillofacial Imaging","volume":"87 1-2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116563519","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It comes with plethora of advantages, such as quick image production elimination of processing chemicals, reduced patient exposure. With easy and instant image acquisition, the number and frequency of radiographs as well retakes have also increased. Therefore, making us think is there an actual reduction in the radiation exposure or not.: To assess clinical utilisation of intraoral digital radiography among practicing dental surgeons.It is a questionnaire-based study. Questionnaire was curated using google forms and divided into two sections. First section included personal data and second section was focused on the clinical practice. Questionnaire link was circulated through various social media platform. 112 responses were collected.Out of all responses, 78.6% are using intraoral digital radiography, among them 53.4% are using CCD sensors. Maximum number of practitioners (54.5%) take on an average 0-5 intraoral digital radiographs and 98.9% of them take 1-6 retakes per day. Errors in positioning the receptor and PID were the most common reasons for taking repeats.: It appears that there is an increase in number and frequency of radiographs and number of retakes which might be nullifying the dose reduction from intraoral digital radiography. Practitioners should not neglect the radiation exposure from intraoral digital radiography as it may have a cumulative effect in long run and should abide by the radiation protection protocol and ALADA principle.","PeriodicalId":282949,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Maxillofacial Imaging","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126410909","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
