Since all sensor nodes are energy-restricted and hardly to recharge. So in order to prolong network life, it is very important to minimize energy consumption. However, the energy consumption may significantly increase if mobile sources or sinks exist in sensor networks. The reason is that the routing information for mobile sources and sinks needs to be update frequently for efferent data delivery. The routing algorithm supporting mobile sinks should consider not only continuous data delivery but also the energy consumption of sensor nodes. However, most of existing research e.g. [2, 3] focuses on even energy consumption while rarely considers the mobility of sinks and sources. In this paper, we propose an efficient routing protocol with multiple virtual grid to reduce energy consumption and improve packets delivery efficiency. Simulation results show that our algorithm can guarantee high data delivery ratio and low average delivery delay, while consumes lower energy then existing routing protocols in sensor networks.","PeriodicalId":282306,"journal":{"name":"2007 Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131187283","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to compare the performance, we chosen 3 types of uplink packet scheduling schemes(UGS[IEEE 802.16 standard], S-l[reference 10], S- 2[reference 12]). From these results, we know the fact that S- 2 scheme increases the system capacity by about 100% more than in the UGS scheme and about 5-20% more than in the S- 1 scheme. Also, S-2 scheme has effect to decrease average delay time, because an average scheduling interval is reduced in case of small ML value. This study is to execute the performance evaluation for the moving subscribers on service. In practical environment, however, both moving and stationary mobile station coexist. Therefore, the practical capacity should be optimized because the maximum throughput is decided by the proportion of moving and stationary device. This result can be used for calculating the system capacity in the base station in case of WMAX and for traffic engineering techniques in order to accommodate many subscribers per the base station.","PeriodicalId":282306,"journal":{"name":"2007 Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125799514","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in wireless access environments, since the resources of mobile terminals are strictly limited, mobile users are not as likely to contribute as ones in fixed environments. Therefore, incentives to encourage user contributions are more significant in wireless access environments. In this paper, we propose a novel architecture for contribution-based transfer-rate differentiation using wireless quality of service (QoS) techniques that motivates users to contribute their resources for wireless content sharing. We also propose a radio resource assignment method for our architecture. Each sensor node possesses the ability to monitor some aspect of its environment. Since data diffusion is vital in WSN, optimized protocols need to be used to guarantee an energy efficient operation of the network by extending the lifetime of individual sensors. To achieve this goal, the transmission range of sensors is first decomposes into certain ranges based on a minimal distance between consecutive forwarding sensors and then classifies these ranges due to Degree of Interest. The work also focuses on the selection of sensors as forwarders which lie on or closely to the shortest path between a source sensor and the sink to yield minimum energy consumption and delay. The energy-aware challenge is presented through the computation of lower and upper bounds on energy consumption and source-to-sink delay.","PeriodicalId":282306,"journal":{"name":"2007 Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications","volume":"105 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128796113","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Channel estimation in time-domain (TD) as well as frequency-domain (FD) is investigated through exploiting preambles and pilot symbols inserted in TD and FD, respectively. The channel is assumed to be slowly time-varying frequency-selective, constant during one OFDM symbol but changing from symbol to symbol. Simulation results show that the TD EW-RLS estimator has better estimation performance in terms of the mean-squares error (MSE) and bit-error rate (BER), compared to FD EW-RLS estimation approach. The computational complexity is significantly reduced by recursively updating the channel estimates and by applying the matrix inversion lemma.","PeriodicalId":282306,"journal":{"name":"2007 Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116213701","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
