This limitation reduces the lifetime of the network and challenges the use of sensor networks for applications that demand a predefined operational lifetime. To avoid this problem, the benefits of using mobile gateway to prolong sensor life-time have been explored in the literature. However, practical considerations such as the gateway speed and route planning, sensor buffer size and data frequency generation constraints impose limits on the mobile elements. In this work, we consider the natural hybrid solution that combines the two approaches of mobile gateways and multi-hop forwarding to address more constraints for sensor applications. We provide algorithmic solutions that attempt to balance the benefits of both approaches. Based on a given predetermined time deadline, a gateway tour will be established to involve a subset of the sensors. These selected sensors will work as gathering points and will aggregate the other sensors' data. The gathering points/nodes are selected with the aim of reducing the energy expenditures due to multi-hop forwarding. The comprehensive performance evaluation has been conducted through computer simulation. Earlier in [1] and [2], we proposed sequential power loading algorithm to reduce the average power used at the transmitter in transmit diversity systems. In this paper, we propose the usage of a maximum ratio combining (MRC) receiver on top of sequential power loading, and provide a complete performance analysis of this proposed scheme in terms of average power used, average number of used antennas, average feedback load, and outage probability. Numerical results show that the proposed MRC enhanced scheme provides lower average number of used antennas and average feedback load with better outage performance than post selection and early selection schemes that were proposed earlier. In this paper, we propose reliable PAPR reducing method that consists in putting together a low complexity Golay coder followed by special Fractional Fourier Transform (FRFT) block. The input data encoder which provides low order Golay sequences coded modulation is then transmitted through FRFT block. FRFT angles are designed to provide optimal decorrelation between signal and noise. This new method offers competitive performance as well as low complexity compared to previously published methods. We defined new increasing function in the fashion of logarithm depending on the increasing factor α which is different from the other logarithmic increase algorithm adopting the fixed vale of α = 2 leading to binary increase. The α value is derived in the function of RTT through the analysis. With the modification of increasing function applied for the congestion avoidance phase, hybrid scheme is also presented for the slow start phase. From this hybrid scheme, we can avoid overshooting problem in the slow start phase even without SACK option. To verify the feasibility of the algorithm for the deployment in the high speed and long distance network, several aspects are evaluated through the NS-2 simulation. We performed simulations for intra-fairness and inter-fairness as well as the friendliness in the different conditions of varying RTTs, bandwidth and PER. For promoting the forecasting performance of fuzzy time-series models, this paper proposed a new model, which incorporates the concept of the equal-frequency partitioning and fast Fourier transform algorithm, and it's never be adopt on fuzzy time-series before. In order to evaluate our proposed approach, the source data was using actual trading data from Taiwan Stock Exchange (TAIEX), and the experimental period is selected from 1997 to 2003 as the datasets for verifications. Finally, the experimental results showed that our proposed approach was effective in improving the forecasting errors on forecasting stock price significantly. Furthermore, the performances in terms of root mean squared error (RMSE) indicate that the proposed model is superior to the compared models suggested by Chen (1996), Yu (2005), and Chang et al. (2011) earlier. To evaluate the framework, we have designed and implemented prototypes. The prototypes support full-duplex communication and real-time communication. To make the prototypes cheap and simple, the RC4 algorithm is utilized to protect digital of voice. The Bluetooth technology is utilized to communicate between the voice encryption prototype and a mobile phone. Because of using Bluetooth link, modification of mobile phone does not need and user interfaces do not need. The preliminary result of the prototype shows that the communication using prototypes is significantly secured and acceptable performance. In addition, the prototypes could be commercial products with very low cost.
