It is quite simply the description of the outcome of throwing a coin n times. The binomial coefficient graph of Section 15 is reproduced here as Figure 1 with only slight modification. Each node is an intersection. We start at the top node which is on level 0 and proceed to higher levels by making left and right turns at each level. Any intersection on a particular level can be characterized by the number of left turns it takes to get there.
