Local employment becomes one form of recruitment that tourist attractions often carry out. However, increasing local participation in tourism often creates friction between tourist attractions and residents. This research aims to explore local participation in The Lodge Maribaya, one of the popular tourist attractions in Bandung West Java, by investigating factors influencing the community's support for local employment in the area. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire from 59 employees who are locals in the area. The confirmatory factor analysis was utilized to test the construct validity and reliability of the model. At the same time, Partial Least Squares (PLS) modeling was employed to assess the relationship among the variables. This study has found that community attachment and perceived benefits play an important role in the community's support in The Lodge Maribaya in terms of their participation in local employment. The strong community attachments and the considerable benefits perceived by the community are cogitated to be the main factors in The Lodge Maribaya's success in employing local workers. By investigating this perspective, this study is expected to provide insights on how to increase local participation in employment and anticipate the aspect that may hinder the process","PeriodicalId":278677,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Tourism Sustainability","volume":"120 13","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113935088","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First is the internal factor in traveling to the beach, longing for the atmosphere and nature of Pangandaran. Second is the distance, and the third is the popularity of Pangandaran. Four factors are the destination's affordable facilities, such as hotels and Restaurants. Last is the strategic location of the west and east coast meet at the same destination. Those five factors accumulated a strong power that sustains visitor's interest in visiting Pangandaran even in crises such as Pandemic Covid-19.","PeriodicalId":278677,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Tourism Sustainability","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124297482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to accelerate tourism development in the South West Bandung Regency area, this study seeks to convey the results of a study on mapping the potential for tourist attractions. An analytical tool in the form of a Point Rating System (PRS) is used to assess various aspects of tourism in these areas. Based on the analysis results, three areas of 3 different development priorities are revitalization of tourism destinations, development of tourism destinations, and pioneering tourism destinations. In conclusion, policy and regulatory aspects are very important in constructing the integrated tourism development of the Southern West Bandung Regency. With the development of geospatial technology, tourists' distribution and travel patterns can be visualized by collecting data on tourist visits to tourist attractions and their routes. With the YWDM method, this web-gis was developed using the YWDM methodology with several phases according to the methods used. This application uses an open-source programming language, namely Javascript, and uses JSON as an upstream geodatabase. The results show that Web-GIS visualization of the distribution and travel patterns can make it easier to monitor the density of a tourist attraction. It is well developed in providing more accurate information on the distribution and density of tourist attractions. With the YWDM methodology, visualization can be done like the software development stage and equipped with steps in need for spatial data management.","PeriodicalId":278677,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Tourism Sustainability","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115939938","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The extended model of theory of planned behaviour (TPB) is proposed as a tool to predict the relationship between applying smart tourism technology and tourist behaviour in selecting and visiting the destination. Using the city of Bandung, Indonesia as a case study, data was collected using a structured questionnaire from 524 domestic tourists in several emerging smart destinations. The confirmatory factor analysis was utilised to test the construct validity and reliability of the model, while Partial Least Squares (PLS) modelling was employed to assess the hypotheses developed. The results show that the extended TPB model can reasonably predict the tourist behaviour towards smart tourism, suggesting its applicability to emerging smart destinations. Smart tourism technology directly affects tourists’ attitude, subjective norms, and tourists perceived behavioural control, resulting in their travel intention. Also, their planned behaviour mediates the relationship between smart tourism technology and tourist decision in selecting and visiting destinations. Identifying predictors of tourist behaviour towards smart tourism provides a more accurate forecast of tourist demand, thereby enabling policymakers to tailor and implement a more comprehensive smart tourism planning and development","PeriodicalId":278677,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Tourism Sustainability","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128705205","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Neglasari Village is located in South Garut, designated as a tourism development area—encouraging the tourism industry's rural development. This village has several hamlets, one of which is the Cikole Hamlet, with the main attraction being tea, coffee, ginger, onion, and other plantations. However, the Cikole Hamlet community does not carry out the existing traditions. However, the potential of local culture can still be used as a supporting attraction and a preservation effort.
