Finding causal paths of message traces between components throughout these systems is important to uncover runtime behaviors and identify the root cause of failures, but this \"art\" often hides in the heads of developers or domain experts. Our goal is to design tools and algorithms to help developers record this art into logs and help the modestly-skilled users and system administrators master it to make better use and management of distributed systems. In this paper, we present a methodology that automatically builds the causal paths of message traces by 1) an agreement with programmers on the style and content of logs produced by operational distributed systems they develop and 2) a correlation algorithm to build message causal paths with the clues from these logs. To validate this mechanism, we have implemented Gingko, a prototype providing a tool chain for users to gain better comprehensions of distributed systems and to debug them efficiently when errors happen.","PeriodicalId":278518,"journal":{"name":"2007 IFIP International Conference on Network and Parallel Computing Workshops (NPC 2007)","volume":"2015 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-09-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128651199","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Semantic Web technologies allow us to enhance these specifications using classes of objects with common attributes. Another shortcoming of the standards is that they do not include any domain ontologies - which again can be specified building on semantic Web formalisms. We try to explore the e-learning repository and learner top layer ontology in our work. Based on the domain ontology, the algorithm of e-learning resource semantic query is analyzed. Some SWRL rules are defined, so that new knowledge can be deducted from OWL knowledge database. The architecture of our learning repository is also described. Our practice indicate that some intelligent and personalization services in e-learning can be achieved by using ontology and semantic web technology.","PeriodicalId":278518,"journal":{"name":"2007 IFIP International Conference on Network and Parallel Computing Workshops (NPC 2007)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-09-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116304803","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So far, it can only be implemented by using pessimistic or optimistic concurrent control singly. This paper introduces a flexible hybrid concurrent control system which could harmonize the two modes of concurrent control. Therefore, there's a gap between these platforms and test beds and the requirement of reality. These platforms and test beds lack of management support of multicast IP assignment, multicast session and other demands such as authorization and authentication of connected users. In this paper, we propose the prototype of a Manageable IPv6 Wireless Multicast Platform (MWMP6). Combined with multicast session directory and other modules, MWMP6 provides management functionalities for multicast address, multicast session and multicast content. Besides, security issues like user authentication are also taken in count. MWMP6 can support various typical wireless multicast applications under wireless network environment. The experiment result shows that MWMP6 is capable to serve wireless multicast in Wireless LAN.","PeriodicalId":278518,"journal":{"name":"2007 IFIP International Conference on Network and Parallel Computing Workshops (NPC 2007)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-09-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127880866","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to facilitate the realization of such ability, the middleware infrastructure is required to acquisition, representation, fusion, and inference context information correctly and reliably. This paper is concerned with semantic and context-based information management in SCUDWare middleware for smart vehicle space. We emphasize on the \"semantic\" aspect of context information, by using semantic Web technology and Web ontology language to build the ontology of the context in this space. In addition, we propose an application scenario and a prototype system. The contribution is twofold. First, we present a semantic and context-based information model to develop a semantic and context management service in SCUDWare middleware. Second, we have built an ontology of the smart vehicle space, with which we make context fusion and inference for middleware adaptation.","PeriodicalId":278518,"journal":{"name":"2007 IFIP International Conference on Network and Parallel Computing Workshops (NPC 2007)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-09-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128807226","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An essential element of smart home is sensor network to convey environment information to the control station. There have been many communication protocols for this sensor network. One problem of previous protocols is unbalanced energy consumption among sensor nodes. Even though they tried to overcome energy unbalanced consumption, they could not solve this problem satisfactorily yet. In this paper, we find that basic reason for this unbalanced energy consumption is that there is normally one base node. Because of this architectural problem, the nodes around this sink node lose their energy more easily relative to other nodes. So, we propose the sensor network architecture with 2 base stations, and its corresponding communication protocol.","PeriodicalId":278518,"journal":{"name":"2007 IFIP International Conference on Network and Parallel Computing Workshops (NPC 2007)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-09-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127472590","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
