Participants answered questionnaires that measured their TSE performance and their attitudes toward TSEs. Out of 541 participants, 301 (55.6%) had heard of TSEs, 177 (32.7%) had ever performed a TSE, and 21 (3.9%) performed TSEs once per month in the past year. Significant positive associations of TSE awareness and practice included self-efficacy and engagement with medical professionals vis-à-vis testicular health. Shame and adherence to certain religious beliefs negatively correlated with awareness and performance of TSEs. The results demonstrate medical professionals' integral role in educating young individuals about TSEs.
","PeriodicalId":278349,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Religion and Health","volume":" ","pages":"4398-4419"},"PeriodicalIF":2.8,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"40572988","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Determining the spiritual care needs of individuals with urinary incontinence may make patients feel more hopeful, peaceful, and stronger. It can also encourage individuals towards positive health behaviors, and can help nurses in choosing appropriate coping methods. A descriptive and cross sectional study was conducted with 220 patients with urinary incontinence who applied to the urology outpatient clinic of a university hospital in Turkey. In the study, data were collected using the descriptive features form, the incontinence severity index, and the Spiritual Care Needs Inventory. Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney U test were used to evaluate the data. This study is reported following the STROBE recommendations. In this study, mean scores of the patients' spiritual care needs scale and the severity of incontinence, age, gender, and the effect of urinary incontinence on daily life, determined that there was a statistically significant difference between the state of being disturbed by urinary incontinence, the state of performing religious rituals regularly, the state of incontinence affecting religious rituals, the importance of religious beliefs in daily life, and the level of defining spirituality (p < 0.05). In this study, it was determined that the spiritual care need scores of the patients with urinary incontinence were above the medium level, and the sub-dimension scores of meaning and hope, caring, and respect were high. In this context, it is very important to consider the spiritual care needs of patients with urinary incontinence problems.
","PeriodicalId":278349,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Religion and Health","volume":" ","pages":"4433-4449"},"PeriodicalIF":2.8,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"40637461","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite his early adult agnosticism, he sought proof of the divine and chose verification of the miraculous cures reported from the shrine at Lourdes, France. It so happened that on his first visit there, he encountered a truly remarkable \"cure\" of a young woman in the terminal stages of tubercular peritonitis. On a return visit, for the second time, he witnessed the restoration of sight to a blind child. Throughout the rest of his life, Carrel was struck by the proximity of the supernatural to corporeal interactions. He ultimately found a place for his faith as a parallel pathway and not in juxtaposition to the scientific. This paper chronicles Carrel's evolution of belief and reconciliation of faith and science.
","PeriodicalId":278349,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Religion and Health","volume":" ","pages":"4565-4584"},"PeriodicalIF":2.8,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"40702435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is an emerging opinion that there is a definite need to add spirituality as the fourth dimension to sustainability. The current meta-analytic study examined this aspect. The study used meta-analysis to examine the relationship between spirituality and sustainability. The research conducted using R-program has meticulously followed all the established protocols and rules of thumb regarding meta-analysis. The analysis was based on 34 studies identified from a preliminary search that yielded 1131 records retrieved from various databases. The study results show that spirituality has the potential to sustain sustainability. Further research could be carried out using more studies, as literature is only emerging in this area. It is expected that the present work will trigger further research on this exciting and fecund topic.
","PeriodicalId":278349,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Religion and Health","volume":" ","pages":"4674-4695"},"PeriodicalIF":2.8,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"40336983","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The practice of women singing oppari is prevalent in the suburban and rural spaces of Tamil Nadu. They form a circle, weep, beat their chest, wail and jump on the beats of Parai (single-sided drum) music on the death of a member of a family as reported by Srinivas (Oppari: An art of Weeping, Wailing and Lamenting, 2019). The women in the region express their grief over the death of their beloved with the lyrics of oppari songs. Of late, professional oppari singers, including both female and male, have been invited to rural and urban Tamil Nadu on the death of a member in the well-off families to mourn for the deceased person. This distinctively South Indian genre of weeping songs has evolved with time. The lyrics of the oppari songs have been blended with the essence of the periodical changes. The content, context, and presentation of the oppari songs have been playing important roles to reflect the makeovers of times. This study attempts to understand the reflection of times in the lyrics of oppari songs by assiduously employing semiotic analysis. The analysis of the words of the content, context indicated and presentation of subject, period, and expression in lyrics of the oppari songs has been made in the paper. The analysis of three oppari songs gives some significant ideas about the different times of history.
","PeriodicalId":278349,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Religion and Health","volume":" ","pages":"4959-4977"},"PeriodicalIF":2.8,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"40631217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our study was conducted with the participation of 400 healthcare personnel having Islamic faith and working in primary healthcare centers in Kahramanmaras. Data were collected through in-person interviews with healthcare workers who completed our questionnaire consisting of 52 questions and designed based on a literature review. SPSS 21 was used to evaluate the collected data statistically. Findings were considered statistically significant if the p-value was lower than 0.05. We evaluated these participants in terms of their levels of knowledge on circumcision. None of the participants had a very high knowledge level. In correlation analysis, it was detected that age (r = 0.194, p < 0.001) and duration of employment in the profession (experience) (r = 0.164, p = 0.001) were positively correlated with knowledge level. Those who found circumcision necessary mostly justified its necessity due to medical benefits (n = 321, 80.3%) and/or religious obligations (n = 242, 60.5%). Our study demonstrates the importance of providing information about circumcision, including the information from the current literature, to primary healthcare workers together with theoretical training and practice both during their formal training and after graduation in Turkey.
","PeriodicalId":278349,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Religion and Health","volume":" ","pages":"4887-4902"},"PeriodicalIF":2.8,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"40358517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Blood pressure, blood glucose, cortisol, ECG and EEG were recorded before and after recitation. Significant reduction in systolic blood pressure, increase in low frequency and absolute alpha power at Fp2 were observed. It helps differentiate between the right and the wrong and leads to sound practice. This study explored the concept of SS from the perspectives of healthcare providers in Iran. This qualitative study was carried out in 2017-2019 using conventional content analysis. Twenty-two physicians, faculty members with clinical work experience, and healthcare providers were purposefully recruited. Data were collected using unstructured interviews and were analyzed using conventional content analysis. Participants' experiences of the concept of SS were grouped into three main themes, namely sense of value, spiritual growth and morale boosting, and SS as a motivator for purposeful service delivery.
