A time-evolving mixed-integer linear program is developed aimed at making tactical decisions; more specifically, to determine the best strategy for distributing the products from the manufacturing site (Mfg) to primary distribution centers (PDPs) and/or regional distribution centers (RDPs) and from them to customers. The company uses one Mfg and three different RDPs, and several PDPs. To account for variability in demand, the model is run under one-year actual data and the results are analyzed to obtain the best distribution scenario. The experiments show that the ratio of direct shipments can improve and demonstrate that cost reduction and modality improvement can be achieved within the network. An extensive sensitivity analysis is also conducted to show the effect of the model parameters on its performance.","PeriodicalId":276731,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Logistics","volume":"320 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123471454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The concept of fishing-industrial logistics is determined by the specifics of such basic processes as: fishery, production of fish products directly on fishing vessels, the transport service of the fishing fleet, and ensuring the safety of navigation and fishery. The basic principles, basic structural logistics objects of the fishing-industrial logistics and links between them are defined. A simplified scheme of the fishing area of the fishing-industrial logistics system is given as an illustration. A systematic approach to the management of fishing fleet activity and its interaction with coastal fish-processing enterprises is used to solve the specific logistical problems. Optimization of fishing vessels’ location in the fishing grounds is considered as an example of the design of transport and logistics systems of the fishing fleet.","PeriodicalId":276731,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Logistics","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117322502","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This objective is achieved by using the concept of a product-driven system. This architecture considers the product as an actor able to make decisions affecting its life cycle. This makes the piloting system proactive and capable of eliminating any risk of problems. The authors demonstrate in this paper that, for a proactive logistics platform, it is necessary to implement control by a smart product in two main processes: a procurement or replenishment process and order grouping process. To achieve this goal, the authors propose the integration of an infotronic technology carried by product, which makes the product smart and able to control its input and output from the platform. The proposed solution is modeled by Business Process Model and Notation 2.0 and simulated with TIBCO BUSINESS STUDIO. As a result, the authors optimized the costs and cycle times of a logistics platform after the integration of radio-frequency identification.","PeriodicalId":276731,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Logistics","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134046437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current Republic of Korea (R.O.K.) military supply system is the “Substitute Model” in which the flow of military supplies moves from the general division (GD) to the logistic support center (LSC), and then moves to combat departments (CD). However, this model may not be adequate for improving resilience in military supply system. Thus, we designed the new “Parallel Model”. In the Parallel Model, both the GD and the LSC supply military materials to the CD during peace time and war time. We analyzed these two models’ critical factors in warfare – the supply line’s destruction ratio and the mean of demand using in-system dynamics simulation. The results showed that the Parallel Model was superior to the Substitute Model and suggest that the parallel supply model is a resilient and effective method in the MSC.","PeriodicalId":276731,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Logistics","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128539708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research has attempted to investigate the potential risks and events and to handle them effectively and efficiently. The aim of this paper is to deal with the importance of identification and management of a risk and an abnormal situation (event) within a business network that demands for higher level of attention in order to execute a business network successfully. This paper outlines the general structure of the risk and event management process and presents a collaborative methodology or framework for risk and event management in a complex non-hierarchical networked business environment. The presented processes facilitate to better understanding and management of uncertainties and risks in a business network. Empirical evidence is also highlighted based on a case example from a non-hierarchical business network. In this paper a high-level decision-making framework for managing risks and events in a business network is demonstrated with a view to ease the necessary planning process for the organizations’ managers beforehand.","PeriodicalId":276731,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Logistics","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128686528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Efforts to improve energy efficiency have now expanded to a supply chain, where energy efficiency is directly related to the resources required for logistics: physical transportation flow of consignments between nodes in a supply chain. Capturing data associated with these physical flows is critical to tracking location and status of consignments. In this paper, we define the content of information associated with the physical flow of materials by examining logistics and supply chain processes that directly impact energy efficiency. We model these processes using the modeling methodology specified by UN/CEFACT. From these process models, we analyze relevant information flow and associated data elements, which we use to create information models. We believe these models can form a basis for new standards that will facilitate energy tracking and reporting across a supply chain.","PeriodicalId":276731,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Logistics","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124711775","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the investment priority sectors for development are not clear. Restaurant planning, due to the lack of stable demands, is very difficult and not possible by means of mathematical models. Accordingly, in this paper, a method based on discrete event simulation was used to simulate the processes of order receiving, raw materials warehousing, and production in the kitchen of a five-star restaurant in Tehran. Important parameters from the perspective of restaurant management were optimized using design of experiments. Numerical results showed that, in accordance with the geographical conditions and public interests in traditional foods, the increase of restaurant salon capacity has higher priority and could lead to increased net profit. Additional studies revealed that to increase the overall profits without reducing the quality of provided services to customers, the proportion of production for outdoor customers must be increased. By by the restaurant management implementing these policies, the average rate of profit was increased by 9.3% during 6 months.","PeriodicalId":276731,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Logistics","volume":"77 18","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120899181","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research model was based on the network theory with social capital variables such as relational social capital, structural social capital and structural holes. An empirical analysis was fulfilled to investigate the effect of the buyer–supplier networks under different conditions. Independent variables employed for the study are relational and structural social capital and structural holes, and the dependent variable is the performance of suppliers measured by ROA (return on asset). Data were gained by Korea Auto Industries Cooperative Association (KAICA) to test the hypothesis of this research. Regression analysis was adopted to find relationships between the variables. The results of this study show that both relational and structural social capital have a positive impact on supplier’s performance. Structural holes have positive influences on supplier performance as well. The interaction between relational social capital and the strong tie with an innovative buyer has a positive impact on supplier performance. The interaction between structural social capital and supplier interaction also has a positive impact on supplier performance.","PeriodicalId":276731,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Logistics","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116966394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research paper deals with the determination of four design parameters and also the two cut-off frequencies, thus providing the bandwidth within which the antenna will be operable using a hybrid model based on Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). The time taken for computation is only about 100 s, which is much less when compared to the traditional artificial neural network methods. The results extracted from the proposed model are then compared with the simulated values using IE3D software as well as the fabricated model of the antenna and is found quite comparable. This method is computationally efficient and time-saving due to fewer iterations and also reduces error due to the avoidance of complex mathematical calculations. Moreover, it can efficiently provide many design parameters in one shot with minimum error.","PeriodicalId":276731,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Logistics","volume":"115 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132415775","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The faulty produced products are reworked or are put on auction as they are. The aim of this research is to determine the optimal cycle length and the percentage of reworking every fault product such that the total inventory cost, including setup, production, holding, reworking, and lost profit, is minimized. We have proved that this problem is a convex non-linear programming method. Therefore, we came up with the exact algorithm based on differentiation to solve it. Finally, a sensitivity analysis is performed to evaluate the effect of changes in different parameters of the problem.","PeriodicalId":276731,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Logistics","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133371886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
