This study aims to address this gap by thoroughly investigating repurchase intention. The primary contributions of the study are twofold: First, it explores the direct relationships among non-functional values, cognitive and affective attitudes, consumer buying behavior, and repurchase intentions for organic skincare products. Second, it assesses how concern for skin health moderates the relationship between attitudes and purchase behavior. The findings reveal that epistemic and social identity values are the significant drivers that positively influence consumer attitudes, while emotional value does not significantly impact the bi-dimensional approach to attitude. Moreover, the study finds that the moderation effect of concern for skin health on the relationship between attitudes and purchase behavior is not supported, indicating that this factor neither strengthens nor weakens the relationship. The findings provided by this study are beneficial for organic skincare manufacturers seeking to enhance their market share by better understanding how to influence consumer attitudes and purchase behavior leading to repurchase intentions. This research is among the few to integrate the SOBC model with TCV to understand repurchase intentions for organic skincare products. Additionally, the study proposes a conceptual framework that can serve as a foundation for future research.","PeriodicalId":275909,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sustainability Research","volume":"6 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-08-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141921813","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study seeks to enrich the existing literature using the innovation resistance theory (IRT). Hence, the study unveils how functional barriers and psychological barriers hinder customers’ attitudes toward green cosmetics, affecting their intentions to use and recommend. Methods : The proposed conceptual framework was validated using a structured questionnaire with primary data from 355 Bangladeshi customers. Then, we used the partial least square-based structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) technique to test the proposed hypotheses. Results : The results show that the tradition barrier (β = − 0.36; t = − 4.286) and the usage barrier (β = −0.16; t = − 2.159) persuasively inhibit customers’ attitudes towards green cosmetics. The findings also reveal a strong influence of use intention (β = 0.60; t = 6.872 ) on recommendation intention to other customer s. Nevertheless, attitudes (β = − 0.07; t = − 0.862) have an insignificant effect on recommendation intentions. Conclusions : This research offers valuable insights for academia, industry practitioners, cosmetic manufacturers, and retailers to understand the determinants that impede customers from developing favorable attitudes toward green cosmetics. The study’s insights will aid marketers in formulating customer-centric marketing strategies and promoting sustainable use of green cosmetics. In addition, this study extends the IRT to gauge customer attitudes, uncovering novel insights into use and recommendation intention from two under-explored contexts: country (Bangladesh) and industry (cosmetics).","PeriodicalId":275909,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sustainability Research","volume":"112 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141272034","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While small contingents of interior designers, typically positioned within academia, pursue design for social and environmental justice, the profession is largely perceived as a luxury profession within a consumerist society. Interior design is implicated within the larger societal ambitions of sustainable development, but much evolution to interior design education, processes, and practices is needed to sharpen disciplinary contributions to global sustainable development goals (SDGs). This critical examination of the interior design discipline is inspired by scholarship that reimagines design practice and education through the lens of “transition design”. Transition design provides a compelling portal to examine the ways in which practice and education will transition from current unsustainable levels of energy use to a new energy paradigm. This review is structured by logical argumentation that begins with the global environmental imperatives outlined by the United Nations. Transition design tools are then systematically adapted and applied to the interior design context. The result is a proposal for “Transition Interior Design” with vital future directions for interior design practitioners, students, and educators moving toward a future of energy uncertainty.","PeriodicalId":275909,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sustainability Research","volume":"26 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141122363","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Landfill formation and utilization have increased as a result of this exponential increase in waste generation, particularly in Indonesia. Batu City Indonesia has a high population growth accompanied by the development of commercial and tourism activities. This dynamic causes an increase in waste generation from both domestic and non-domestic waste. Therefore, the addition of a new waste cell is an urgency. The expansion of the landfill waste cell is difficult because the existing landfill site is very close to residential areas. This research aims to identify and formulate alternative locations for landfill development in Batu City. To achieve this goal, analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and K-means clustering were used with the utilization of GIS tools. The AHP process that uses various factors to determine the location of landfill has produced a consistency value of 0.0224 (the analysis results are reliable). The alternatives generated from AHP are landfill feasible locations located in Giripurno, Pandanrejo, Bumiaji, Bulukerto, Sumbergondo, Sumber Brantas, Tulungrejo, Punten, Gunungsari, Songgokerto, Pesanggrahan, and Oro-oro Ombo villages. In the final stage, the K-means clustering analysis produced 5 clusters with the priority cluster located in cluster 1, located in the villages of Bumiaji, Pandanrejo, Giripurno, and Bulukerto.","PeriodicalId":275909,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sustainability Research","volume":"118 16","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141126570","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, a study was carried out to estimate the cold and heat needs of the winery during its operation. A calculation program was implemented in Matlab software framework to estimate the influences of the winemaker’s decisions on the cold and heat consumption of the winery. Once the needs were determined, a commercial geothermal heat pump (GHP) was selected, using exhaust heat to produce hot and cold water at the same time. After assessing hot and cold-water consumption along with heat pump requirements, a field of closed-loop borehole heat exchangers (BHE) was designed using a finite element heat transport numerical model. The existing geological profile, characterized by alternating basalt lava flows and pyroclasts, was carefully considered. The high porosity of the pyroclastic layers resulted in a 20.1% reduction in BHE performance compared to the initial expectations. Consequently, the depth of the 12 BHE was increased 21.9 additional meters from the original design. Thus, it was concluded that the alternation of basaltic lava flows and pyroclasts is prevalent in volcanic islands, emphasizing the need to attentively account for these pyroclastic layers in such environments.","PeriodicalId":275909,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sustainability Research","volume":"7 s2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139150239","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
