However, this paper demonstrates that Yuan et al.'s scheme has some drawbacks: insider attack, impersonation attack by a malicious registered user, and GW-node or sensor node impersonate attacks. To mitigate the security breaches, this paper also proposes a new biometric-based user authentication scheme without using password for WSN. The proposed scheme does not require the user password and uses only hash function. As a result, the proposed scheme has more efficiency and strong security compared with related schemes.","PeriodicalId":274311,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 20th International Workshops on Enabling Technologies: Infrastructure for Collaborative Enterprises","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116299679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Simulation models represent valuable knowledge and require considerable time and effort for their development. Means for reuse should be taken into account from the beginning of model creation. This paper presents a collaborative model development process, which creates prerequisite information for successful reuse of simulation models. It introduces a knowledge model and proposes reviewed documentation at each step in the process. These pieces of documentation enable successive reuse at different levels. The modeling process was evaluated by creating a system simulation of the OOV-TET-1 satellite including three satellite subsystems, dynamics, kinematics, and space environment. Furthermore, the organization of models and their documentation artifacts is crucial in order to search, find, and reuse models across project partners and across projects. The paper suggests a flexible model database that suits the special requirements of typical space projects and large research organizations.","PeriodicalId":274311,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 20th International Workshops on Enabling Technologies: Infrastructure for Collaborative Enterprises","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131846633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This track presents a new computing model and its implementation which resulted directly from the collaboration of the two workshops, Collaboration and Cloud Computing Workshop and the Emerging Technologies for Next-Generation GRIDs sponsored under the Aegis of WETICE. In this paper we present some of the key issues that still need to be addressed to improve the efficiencies and utilize the new generation of many-core servers that are transforming the information technology landscape. We hope WETICE2011 will continue the tradition to forge new collaborations and lead to innovation without a short term agenda.","PeriodicalId":274311,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 20th International Workshops on Enabling Technologies: Infrastructure for Collaborative Enterprises","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123525153","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this project is to propose new means to improve the supply chain resilience against intrusions. In particular, we describe the deployment of communicating objects that are RFIDs and sensors in a warehouse of dangerous goods. A dynamic risk management is then possible by monitoring in real-time the respect of storage constraints, forklift cargo falls and rack failures. Data collected by sensors are treated by a centralized Information System so that alarms or specific procedures can be triggered as a function of the events occurring in the warehouse.","PeriodicalId":274311,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 20th International Workshops on Enabling Technologies: Infrastructure for Collaborative Enterprises","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129788907","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This system is used for post-seismic building-wise damage detection. Sensor node equipped with GPS is installed on the top of the roof of each and every building. The position of this sensor node is measured before and after earthquake. This information is collected through wireless communication. Superposing this information on GIS, building-wise damage distribution due to earthquake can be obtained and possible road closure due to the debris from the collapsed buildings can be estimated. Since this system is used under emergency situation, toughness and robustness of the wireless communication should be given the highest priority. Also, enhancement of GPS positioning accuracy is essential. GPS relative positioning algorithm to achieve the accuracy in the order of several centimeters is presented in this paper. The system overview, hardware and some of the key components of the system are described in detail. Also, the results from a field experiment using a wireless sensor network with 39 sensor nodes are presented.","PeriodicalId":274311,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 20th International Workshops on Enabling Technologies: Infrastructure for Collaborative Enterprises","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122847484","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Organizations are autonomous and coordinate the situation from their point of view. There is no central authority to coordinate all operations. To coordinate their actions, organizations need to exchange information on what they are doing. However, they cannot share everything with everybody due to privacy, regulatory or strategic reasons. Currently, only e-mail, telephone or fax are used to exchange information. This makes detecting and handling of conflicting views on the situation very difficult. We propose an approach for inter-organizational process management for these kinds of dynamic scenarios. It allows different organizations to share selected activities by replicating them in the different workspaces of the organizations. State changes of shared activities are propagated optimistically. We explain detecting and handling of two different types of conflicts that can occur in this setting. We provide an implementationand interviews to validate the concepts.","PeriodicalId":274311,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 20th International Workshops on Enabling Technologies: Infrastructure for Collaborative Enterprises","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115536744","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the high heterogeneity of agents and platforms, interoperability has become a key issue for the use of MASs in academic and industrial fields. Several approaches to interoperability proposed so far are based on the JAVA technology exploiting the homogeneity of the programming language and technology. In this paper we introduce a new middleware that enables the interoperability among agents execution in different platforms, implemented with different programming languages. Our approach is FIPA-IEEE compliant and programming-language independent.","PeriodicalId":274311,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 20th International Workshops on Enabling Technologies: Infrastructure for Collaborative Enterprises","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128363128","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a simulationmodeling approach to evaluate renewable energy readiness, that is, the ability to develop renewable energy, taking into account critical ecological, economic, governance, and institutional factors that generally shape energy policy. While the dynamics underlying shifts towards renewable energy are generic, we focus on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a counter-intuitive case. The UAE is a major oil rich and oil exporting country, with large untapped reserves. Yet it has made a policy decision to develop sources of renewable energy. The absence of basic institutional, managerial, and infrastructure requirements creates major barriers that must be surmounted if this policy is to be effectively pursued. For these and other reasons, the UAE serves as a \"hard test\" for the potentials of renewable energy and can eventually be used as a model for other oil exporting countries. The UAE hasalready made strides along a trajectory in trial and error ways. As such, it helps demonstrate in theory and practice the readiness for renewable energy-that can help articulate effective policy trajectories.","PeriodicalId":274311,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 20th International Workshops on Enabling Technologies: Infrastructure for Collaborative Enterprises","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125678182","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To achieve this common goal as effectively and efficiently as possible, these actors (police, military forces,medical organizations, non-governmental organizations but also emerging groups) have to collaborate and act in a coordinated way. In the term coordination, we include all the work needed for the actors, for the connected integration of their information systems and also for the flexible synchronization of their efforts, in order to handle the crisis in the most efficient way. This coordination may occur during all the phases of a crisis, from the mitigation to the recovery phase.","PeriodicalId":274311,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 20th International Workshops on Enabling Technologies: Infrastructure for Collaborative Enterprises","volume":"74 21","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113940717","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
