Abstract : The production of flexible polyurethane foams uses 98% commodity products and 2% specialty chemicals. As a consequence, commodities represent more than 90% of the raw material costs. Historically, the industry has always procured alternatives to replace them, at least partially. Therefore, for decades, different mineral fillers were used to replace commodities, but these were prohibited by the 2011 ABNT standardization of mattresses that stipulated an ash content equal to zero. The use of micronized recycled P oly E thylene T erephthalate (PET) as an organic filler is technically feasible up to at least 21.9%, representing a cost reduction of 5 to 10% per foam block produced, in addition to the ecological appeal of offering a more noble destination for recycled material.","PeriodicalId":274181,"journal":{"name":"8° Workshop do Mestrado Profissional Instituto de Química Universidade de São Paulo","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133919256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With this focus, the substitution of synthetic preservatives for those of natural origin is in line with this guideline. Meeting the expectations of the cosmetic products market that seeks formulations with less potential for toxicity, and decreasing the incidence of irritation and allergy, it is proposed to study the antimicrobial potential of some natural products. These products are already used as ingredients of cosmetic products in the national market: Castanha-do-Pará (extract), Breu Branco (oil-resin), Erva Doce (essential oil), Tonka bean (absolute), Cupuaçu (extract) and Pataqueira (essential oil). These products were challenged against the microorganisms Escherichia coli (ATCC 8739), Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 6538), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 9027), Aspergillus brasiliensis (ATCC 16404) and Candida albicans (ATCC 10231). The ingredients tonka bean and pataqueira showed the highest inhibition for most of the test microorganisms. These two products were considered to have potential for the development of natural preservatives after further studies on synergism with other synthetic preservatives of broad antimicrobial spectrum.","PeriodicalId":274181,"journal":{"name":"8° Workshop do Mestrado Profissional Instituto de Química Universidade de São Paulo","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116798978","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is not a problem limited to IQUSP, considering that the majority of the institutions which offer chemistry undergraduate courses in the State of São Paulo, public or private, don’t have the term of inspection of the fire department (AVCB), within the valid regulations. There is no Technical Instruction (IT) of the Fire Department of the Military Police of the State of São Paulo (CBPMESP) for the prevention of fire and accidents with chemicals for institutions of teaching and research. This work describes the proposal for the development of such a regulation, in its initial stage, that involves the adaptation to the Brazilian reality of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the NFPA 45 “Standard on Fire Protection for Laboratories Using Chemicals”, using the survey of the current conditions in some institutions of teaching and research that have this kind of laboratories, specially the IQUSP. A Technical Instruction of CBPMESP adequate to this kind of institution will be proposed at the end of this work.","PeriodicalId":274181,"journal":{"name":"8° Workshop do Mestrado Profissional Instituto de Química Universidade de São Paulo","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124271850","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, flow analysis approaches coupled with ion chromatography and amperometric detection were studied for cyanide determination. The effect of interfering anions commonly present in environmental samples were evaluated in the quantification of 70 μg L -1 CN - in aqueous matrix. Using a dialysis system converted into a gas-diffusion system, a mean recovery of 98 ± 1% was achieved. The limits of detection and quantification were estimated as 6.7 μg L -1 and 10.0 μg L -1 , respectively. The results demonstrated that the flow-system coupled to chromatographic separation and amperometric detection provided good selectivity for cyanide determination.","PeriodicalId":274181,"journal":{"name":"8° Workshop do Mestrado Profissional Instituto de Química Universidade de São Paulo","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123038662","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The changes performed at the molecular level have been shown effective on reducing water loss by percolation or evapotranspiration. The study carried out in the lab scale has been conducted varying natural polymers’ physicalchemical properties, which proved to be effective by increasing hydric retention in soils. These polymers seem to be a promising and superior alternative for soils affected by intense hydric stress, allowing economical usage of challenging areas or even areas where agriculture was not viable.","PeriodicalId":274181,"journal":{"name":"8° Workshop do Mestrado Profissional Instituto de Química Universidade de São Paulo","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134644390","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
