Traditional upland cropping systems play an important role in the production and food security of farmers. Transformation of the settled cultivation systems and plantations from the system of collecting forest products and shifting cultivation in Indonesia is discussed in this review. Pre-emergence herbicides are usually used to control weeds when planting until to 2 month periode and 2.5 months post-emergence herbicides to prepare a second fertilization so that sugar cane growth is not disturbed by weeds. The treatment consisted of: ametrine 80 % herbicide at doses of 0.8, 1.2, 1.6, 2.0; and 2.4 kg / ha, ametrine 1.6 kg/ha+2,4-D 865g l/ha,ametrine 1.6 kg/ha + metil metsulfuron 8 g/ha, 2 times manual weeding treatment, and control. The experimental design used was randomized block design with 4 replications. The results showed that the herbicides ametrine and ametrine + 2,4-D or metsulfuron methyl were able to suppress the total weeds growth in the cultivation of dry land sugarcane. Ametrine and ametrine + 2,4-D or metsulfuron methyl all doses are able to suppress weeds Borreria alata, Rhicardia brasiliensis, and Digitaria longifolia; except at doses of ametrine 0.8 and 1.2 kg/ha against Borreria alata at 8 and 12 weeks after application. Whereas weeds that are not controlled with all treatments, namely Brachiaria sp., Cyperus rotundus, and Cleome rutidosperma. The growth of plant cane is not suppressed by the treatment of herbicide ametrine and ametrine + 2,4-D or metsulfuron  methyl and as well as manual weeding. Data analysis was using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan's multiple range test at 5% level. The treatment was applied in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which was repeated three times. The combination of treatments derived from three varieties, namely Anjasmoro, Gerobogan, and Burangrang combined with 5 SP-36 fertilizer doses, namely 0, 100, 150, 200, and 250 kg / ha. The experiment consisted of two experiments. Experiment 1, the fifteen lots of seeds were stored without pepper powder. Experiment 2, the fifteen lots of seeds were ground with pepper in their storage. {"title":"PENGGUNAAN AIR KELAPA DAN ASPIRIN UNTUK PRESERVASI UBI JALAR (Ipomea batatas) SECARA IN VITRO","authors":"Fitri Yelli","doi":"10.23960/JA.V19I1.4328","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.23960/JA.V19I1.4328","url":null,"abstract":"Sweet potato is raw locally food used as an alternative staple food that important for national food security.   The objective of the reseach was to achive the suitable medium for preservation  of  sweet potato plants by slowly growth in in vitro medium.   The factorial experiment arranged in completely randomized design with the first factor was two concentrations of MS medium: MS 1 and MS 2.   The second factor was several concentrations of coconut water, i.e.  0 and 15 mg/l and the third factor was several concentrations of Aspirin (0, 5, 10, 15, 20 mg/l) . The results showed that the number of green leaves and the number of internodes were affected by concentrations of medium in six weeks after planting. It can be used as potted flowers by making the flower stalks shorter. One way to get tuberose that have criteria as potted flowers is by administering growth inhibitors using Paclobutrazol. This research was conducted at the Greenhouse of the Horticultural Building, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung in November to August 2017, aimed to determine the effect of the concentration of paclobutrazol on the growth and appearance of tuberose and to determine the best concentration of paclobutrazol in the appearance of potted tuberose. This study used a randomized block design (RCBD) with a single treatment with 6 levels of paclobutrazol concentration, namely 0, 75, 150, 225, 300, and 375 ppm with 3 replications. Homogeneity of variance was tested by Bartlett test and additivity was tested by Tukey test. Then, it was continued with the F test and with the Least Significant Difference test (LSD) at the 5% level. The results showed that administration of paclobutrazol was significantly affected pseudo stem circumference and all variables of generative growth except the length of the florets.
