This study aims to identify and understand the significant factors responsible for empowering women in smallholder irrigation schemes as these may play a crucial role in poverty reduction among women farmers. The authors applied a simple random technique to select 174 women from 8 irrigation schemes across Vhembe and Sekhukhune districts of South Africa. Primary data were collected on their demographics and empowerment using a modified Women Empowerment Agriculture Index developed by IFPRI. This index concludes that women are disempowered. The determinants of empowerment were estimated using multiple linear regression analysis. The results show that there wasa strong correlation between socio-economic characteristics and empowerment; however, only four out of eleven independent variables were significant (i.e., age, marital status, number of dependants and expenditure). The study provides policy suggestions to maintain and improve where women are empowered and to correct where they are disempowered.","PeriodicalId":269636,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Youth and Women Empowerment","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121817007","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, it sought to determine the factors contributory to victimization among crime victims, the effects of victimization, the support extended for the treatment of crime victims, in order to arrive in recommendations to assist crime victims and minimize the impact of victimization. It made use of the descriptive-qualitative method of research. The researcher found out that the primary factors that lead to the victimization of women victims of violence are socioeconomic factors. Most of the abuses committed to victims were in the form of verbal abuse so there is no much visible physical effect. There is lack of support given to the victims. In terms of suggestions made by the victims to help other victims, most of them suggested livelihood programs because they believe that some cases of violence against women stem from financial reasons.","PeriodicalId":269636,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Youth and Women Empowerment","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127271196","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ten participants, born between 1997 to 2012, from diverse backgrounds, were selected and interviewed using semi-structured, open-ended questions. The researchers discovered that the experiences of Gen Z are rooted in their perceptions of feminism. Their perceptions view feminism as women’s empowerment that seeks gender equality and is anchored as a feminist movement. Cultural identity and practice, socio-political affiliation, and social media influence how they perceive feminism. However, it is misunderstood as a claim for women’s superiority toward men or other genders, and gender stereotypes still exist. Gender discrimination and sexism urge the need to advance feminism. Hence, educational institutions, local governments, and non-governmental and private organizations must provide avenues to deepen Gen Zs understanding, appreciation, and involvement in feminism and feminist movements. Further research exploring specific contexts or cases about it is encouraged.","PeriodicalId":269636,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Youth and Women Empowerment","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124626535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present research was solely concerned with the contribution of female entrepreneurs to Bangladesh’s economy. It attempts to depict the overall experience of female entrepreneurs, such as the encouragement or support they received, the obstacles and barriers they had to overcome, and so on. This study’s main goal was to discover the benefits of the digital marketplace in the ventures of women in Bangladesh. The data were analyzed using a quantitative research design, simple percentages, and Index Scale Statistics. Data collection was done primarily, and the samples were obtained from female entrepreneurs via a questionnaire survey using convenience and snowball sampling. The graph and table were created using STATA. The findings show that most women in Bangladesh start businesses to gain self-sufficiency or financial independence. Social barriers, family restrictions, insufficient product, insufficient labor, and so on were among the major issues they faced. Before starting the business, most women were students, homemakers, or teachers. In accordance with the respondents, their product has helped people improve their quality of life. Most female entrepreneurs want to grow their online and offline businesses and help unemployed women gain employment. It was discovered that the majority of online entrepreneurs are young women. Most of the start-ups were launched in 2020, indicating a relationship between COVID-19 effects and the launching of start-ups. The majority of women sold their goods on Facebook. Most female entrepreneurs buy their products from wholesalers to get better deals and more benefits. In contrast, some entrepreneurs produce the goods themselves to guarantee their authenticity. The economic development and social well-being of the community and their families’ income are greatly enhanced by the participation of women in entrepreneurship. The findings demonstrate the profound effects that women’s entrepreneurship has had on both the economic situation in Bangladesh and the lives of the entrepreneurs.","PeriodicalId":269636,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Youth and Women Empowerment","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123455687","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Emoji is a graphical image, representing attitudes or concepts, and emotional feelings in a simple way. Emojis became popular around 2010 worldwide and can be used on any smartphone or computer in a message or conversation. Dresner & Herring stated that some social factors include the gender and the age of CMD users (2010). Emoji is one of people’s emotional and facial expressions, and its use exceeds the standard norm of the language, especially on Facebook and Twitter, known as the most used platforms in Mongolian internet communication. We have studied one of the sociolinguistics studies, the emoji use on Facebook and Twitter in Mongolian computer-mediated discourse, also known as conversational discourse, comparing people’s age, gender, emoji use, and frequency through the questionnaire we processed. The findings of the study show that people write online using excessive emojis, which means that emojis have become an integral part of people’s everyday life. Following excessive use of emojis, there is a fear that may lead to language extinction, and the spelling rules may be compromised, which could adversely affect the official written language. We hope that this study will contribute to the scholarly literature on computer-mediated discourse in general, Mongolian computer-mediated discourse in particular, and the emoji use and its frequency, a recently introduced in our country and a little-studied feature of computer-mediated discourse.","PeriodicalId":269636,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Youth and Women Empowerment","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124853345","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the other side, no evidence was found in the moderating and mediating role of motivation in the relationship between the two variables. As a solution, this study is focused on determining the moderating and mediating role of dance motivation to dance engagement and psychological well-being. This study has adopted three questionnaires, namely: Dance Motivation Questionnaire (DMQ), the Sports Engagement Scale (SPS), and Psychological Wellbeing Scale (PWS). Additionally, Partial Least-Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS4 was performed to analyze the data. Analysis based on factor loading, average variance extracted (AVE), Fornell-Larcker Criterion, Cross loading, and HTMT were performed to establish the reliability and validity of the questionnaires (convergent and discriminant). After surveying 117 students taking Bachelor of Performing Arts at City College of Angeles, dance engagement positively effects students’ psychological well-being, which is consistent based on previously conducted studies. On the other hand, motivation has no moderating and mediating role in the relationship between the two variables. The study highly suggests conducting a similar study to support or refute the claim of this investigation.","PeriodicalId":269636,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Youth and Women Empowerment","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130636720","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the child rearing emphasis is on the act of training or bringing up the children and the interaction between the parents and child, while parenting emphasizes the responsibilities and qualities of exemplary behavior of the parent. The study utilized a descriptive method with the questionnaire as the instrument of the study. It was found out in the study that the profile of parents of Grades 5 and 6 students in Calbayog III District are composed of both parents, middle age, finished if not completed elementary level of education has more number members in the family, average earner and has no active community affiliations. The parenting style of parents is authoritative. This implies that the Grade 5 and 6 parents in Calbayog District III are nurturing, responsive, and supportive, yet set firm limits for their children. They attempt to control children’s behavior by explaining rules, discussing, and reasoning. They listen to a child’s viewpoint but don’t always accept it.","PeriodicalId":269636,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Youth and Women Empowerment","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123045054","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study uses data from the Central Statistics Organization of Afghanistan for 2014. The aim of the research is to conduct an empirical analysis of the main determinants of women’s autonomy in financial household decision-making covering 34 provinces of Afghanistan. The methodology employed in investigating the effect of each factor is the Multinomial Logistic estimation technique. In addition, women’s autonomy relating to expenditure on food, purchasing, and visiting family has been studied. Findings of the study reveal that education has a significant negative effect on women’s participation in financial household decision-making in Afghanistan. In most cases, agricultural employment tends to empower women in terms of financial household decision-making and their autonomy in terms of visiting family, purchasing food, and expenditure. However, other types of employment, including business employment, significantly decrease women’s autonomy in household decision-making. Also, provinces that aren't safe make it much harder for women to make their own financial decisions for their households. In terms of education, it cannot be concluded that education does not play any role in empowering women. Indeed, it plays a vital role in the overall development of the country. Awareness building program, security and health care services from government might be suggested for the bright future of the women in Afghanistan.","PeriodicalId":269636,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Youth and Women Empowerment","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124561823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Special Education, which is one of the measures stated in the United Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to eradicate disability discrimination as well as to promote full and effective participation in society, is still an area studies which has not been investigated in detail from an indigenous perspective. In the Philippines, for example, even though inclusion is an embodied philosophy and policy in its Enhanced Basic Education Curriculum, it does not clearly provide for a guide for implementing special education services to indigenous learners with disabilities. Thus, in this paper, I explored into the gaps of disability from an Indigenous perspective and the primary Philippine policies on disability education and Indigenous Peoples Education. These analyses were used to conceptualizing a proposed model and framework for developing a curriculum for Indigenous Learners with Disabilities.","PeriodicalId":269636,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Youth and Women Empowerment","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125238200","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
