However, two perplexing challenges have not been solved in clinical orthodontics, i.e. long treatment time (on average 2-3 years) and iatrogenic root resorption. Figuring out these challenges will dramatically improve the quality of orthodontic care. The following article deals with the first challenge i.e Long treatment time and the most reliable and effective way to enhance the tooth movement.","PeriodicalId":269485,"journal":{"name":"IP Indian Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Research","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131439898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Patients with deep bite encounter periodontal and temporomandibular problems. Deep overbite refers to the increase of overlap of maxillary incisors over mandibular incisors beyond normal coverage of 30-40%. There are many factors which lead to the development of deep bite like inherent and acquired factors. Inherent factors like tooth morphology, skeletal patterns, rotation of condyle affects the bite. Acquired factors like muscle habits, loss of posterior tooth support or lateral tongue thrust may affect the bite. Deep bite can be corrected by number of different methods which include intrusion of anterior teeth, extrusion of posterior teeth or a combination of both. In non-growing patients surgical treatment is a suitable option to achieve stable results.This article describes various appliances and their biomechanics involved for correcting deepbite malocclusion","PeriodicalId":269485,"journal":{"name":"IP Indian Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Research","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124525334","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In two-dimensional diagnosis, geometric distortion, superimposition of structures, projective displacements, and rotational errors are common. This case series, affirming that the CBCT is vital key in the diagnosis of some specific orthodontic conditions, and presenting five case reports which was difficult to diagnose it with two-dimensional radiograph. Case 1 includes horizontally impacted 21 with crown located labially, and root palatally with close proximity to nasopalatine canal, which was veiled in 2D orthopantomogram. Case 2 is an infrazygomatic implant case, the placement of which was debatable by seeing through the 2D IOPA radiograph. Here, CBCT removed the black curtain and proved its monarchy. Case 3 is a premolar impaction, which in 2D radiograph appeared like an iceberg, but its true anatomy was revealed by the CBCT. After this, the next case 4 is about the central incisor mimicking a canine in 2D radiograph, which was found to be supernumerary tooth on CBCT. Followed by temporomandibular disorder (5) which severity was brought to light by CBCT. The need for this case series is to wave the flag for CBCT in the orthodontic diagnosis which will help in delivering proper treatment plan and emphasis where it is essential to do CBCT.","PeriodicalId":269485,"journal":{"name":"IP Indian Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Research","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116486654","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is imperative for the treatment of both dental and skeletal malocclusions. Skeletal anchorage provides better chances to obtain absolute anchorage in orthodontic tooth movement. The topic of skeletal anchorage is vast and compiling it in one single article will be an injustice to the readers. So, we have divided this into two review articles under the headings of introduction, evolution and historical background, the means of skeletal anchorage which will be discussed in this first part followed by the design and function of screw-type orthodontic mini-implants, placement sites, surgical procedures, loading approaches, biocortical and resorbable implants and conclusion in the second part.","PeriodicalId":269485,"journal":{"name":"IP Indian Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Research","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124343506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Molecular diagnostics, imaging, and analytics are examples of precision medicine tools. Precision medical advances foreshadowed comparable advancements in orthodontics, and they can be used to produce tailored treatment approaches and improve treatment efficiency. This article presents an overview of recent developments in computer technology and biomedicine, as well as their current and expected future uses in precision orthodontics. It is necessary to conduct an evaluation of orthodontically relevant technology and developments in relevant biological research. Within the next few decades, advances in computer software and hardware, as well as 3D imaging technology, will offer for more individualised therapy and biomechanical planning. The prospects for personalised orthodontic bracket’s manufacturing with adequate material qualities and digital technology in the future are both appealing and persuasive.","PeriodicalId":269485,"journal":{"name":"IP Indian Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Research","volume":"265 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129112810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If it's the former, distalization is one of the Go-to treatment modality one can opt for provided the nose and lip relation is optimum and does not warrant for extraction. If it's the latter then extraction remains the only choice. This case report discusses an innovative way of aligning a highly placed canine without taxing the anchorage in all 3 planes with help of Skeletal anchorage and Loop mechanics while also correcting the inclinations and gummy smile without hindering nose-lip relation to a certain extent and also tackling the common problem of anatomically short upper lip.","PeriodicalId":269485,"journal":{"name":"IP Indian Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Research","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115255769","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The majority of canine eruption abnormalities occur in one of two directions: palatal or buccal displacement from the usual eruptive location 2. Permanent maxillary canine impaction or ectopic eruption affects about 1-2 percent of the general population. Canines that are palatally displaced are twice as common as those that are buccally placed. Buccally displaced canines, on the other hand, are very prevalent in practice and their etiology is related to a deficient dental arch perimeter 3,4. So, the purpose of this report is to show a case of a 15-year-old male with ectopic maxillary canines who was treated by extracting the four first premolars, using segmental T loops for retraction of ectopic canines. The goals were met at the end of treatment with optimal aesthetic balance and excellent occlusal connections, resulting in great long-term stability.","PeriodicalId":269485,"journal":{"name":"IP Indian Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Research","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125350797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For accurate bracket positioning in direct bonding, various hand-held dental instruments are used. Instruments such as, the Boone and Dougherty gauges, MBT gauges, A-KAM and various other modifications, are used for accurate positioning of brackets. Sometimes the bracket can easily slip when the instrument is removed. So, position adjustments are difficult with such an instrument. Indirect bonding is an easy solution, but it is time-consuming and there is no precise repositioning of brackets that fall off and it does not provide proper root paralleling. This led us to develop an auxiliary which can be used for crown and root paralleling or aligning, horizontal, vertical and axial positioning of bracket (Pre-Treatment assessment) during direct bonding. This will avoid the step of repositioning of the bracket at mid or end of the treatment.","PeriodicalId":269485,"journal":{"name":"IP Indian Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Research","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121733722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Treating aesthetic needs with non-invasive and with minimal techniques can preserve tissues. Invisalign aligners are an aesthetic and comfortable option too for orthodontic treatment. The increased demand for orthodontic treatment in adults has increased and widened the upper age limit for orthodontic intervention. The antero-posterior skeletal relationship of the maxilla and mandible is determined by the ANB angle. Veneers can be one of the techniques which show excellent aesthetic results and longevity of the treatment. This report highlights the relevant aspects of Invisalign aligners and veneers in a 54-year-old female with the minimal invasive method where the aesthetics of patient was highly improved.","PeriodicalId":269485,"journal":{"name":"IP Indian Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Research","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117264791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
