At a given frequency, line-of-sight absorbance through a low pressure combusting system may have contributions from gases at several different densities and temperatures corresponding to the light beam passing through different regions in the low pressure containment chamber. The degree to which the line-of-sight path is nonhomogeneous is determined by diffusion and flow dynamics within the low pressure containment chamber. Usually, the region of interest is the flame region where the density of some combustion gases may be less than in cooler portions of the line-of-sight path.","PeriodicalId":266792,"journal":{"name":"Modern Spectroscopy of Solids, Liquids, and Gases","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129516914","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recent femtosecond pump-probe experiments have shown that the diiodide ion product is formed vibrating coherently. Energy-dependent rate constants, product final state distributions, and photofragment excitation spectra have provided experimental tests for simple and complex unimolecular theories. The use of Doppler spectroscopy to measure correlated velocity and angular momentum distributions can frequently provide a more complete picture of the dissociation process than other, more integrated measurements. The 193 nm dissociation of cyanogen (NCCN) has been considered a classic case of a barrierless dissociation, well described by simple phase space theory, where all asymptotic product states that conserve total energy and angular momentum are considered equally likely.","PeriodicalId":266792,"journal":{"name":"Modern Spectroscopy of Solids, Liquids, and Gases","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131556112","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, locating emission or absorption centers near reflecting interfaces can strongly effect their interaction with the electromagnetic field. In recent years, there have been several reports of the observation of a change in the angular distribution of emission due to cavity confinement. In addition, changes in the radiative lifetime have also been reported. A review of spontaneous emission from planar microstructures has recently been presented by Deppe et. al.1 The perturbation of the radiative properties of centers can be predicted using quantum electrodynamics for the electromagnetic modes of the discontinuous media. In fact, it is possible to design a specific structure to enhance the mode amplitude, and therefore, the interaction at the position of a radiative center. This approach can be used for ultrasensitive spectroscopy. Furthermore, emission or excitation angle can be used to selectivity cause enhancement at a particular frequency or position within a planar structure.","PeriodicalId":266792,"journal":{"name":"Modern Spectroscopy of Solids, Liquids, and Gases","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134609658","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
