This effect varies subject to the investor’s nature which in turn affects the financial performance of the firm. Using cross-sectional data from 382 respondents of Small and Medium Enterprises within Nairobi County, the study evaluates direct effect of Anchoring Heuristic on financial performance of the SMEs in Nairobi County. Additionally, the study scrutinizes the mediational role of Investment decisions on the relationship between anchoring heuristic and financial performance of the said SMEs. The study is grounded in Heuristic theory together with Modern portfolio theory. The study used Explanatory research design and arranged the samples into strata. Data was collected using self-administered, structured questionnaires and items were grounded on a five-point Likert scale with data analysis being done using descriptive and inferential statistics. The hypotheses of the study were tested using multiple regression models and Hayes process macro. The results showed that Anchoring Heuristics significantly predicts SME’s financial performance (β= .129, p< .05) and this relationship is partially mediated by Investment decisions (β =.239, p < .001, CI=0.029, 0.112). Theoretically, the study supported the incorporation of the key heuristic factor (anchoring), and investment decisions, where the outcome of the results indicated the significant relationship in achieving financial performance of SMEs. Finally, there is need to undertake similar studies covering other geographical locations to make generalization of this study.","PeriodicalId":266089,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Management and Economic Research","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126830721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

That the world is now a global village has removed the borders of the countries at the point of trade. In other words, a product produced in China can be offered to consumers in Canada. At this point, it is absolutely important that the products had better meet expectations, desires and needs of the consumers. By the way, religious views of consumers, that is, religions and religious orientation, can be seen as a factor which can direct the product preferences of consumers in that religions can influence the consumption habits of their members. This study was held in Isparta and Burdur sample provinces with a total of 558 participants to determine the religious orientations of consumers. The data was analyzed by applying various analyzes and statistical tests such as \"Reliability\", \"Factor Analysis\", \"T-Test\", \"Variance Analysis\" and \"Correlation Analysis\" with the SPSS 20. package program. As a result of the research, four different religious orientation of the participants emerged unlike the original scale. Last but not least, there appear a relationship between some of the demographic characteristics of consumers and their religious orientations.","PeriodicalId":266089,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Management and Economic Research","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134588395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study aimed to examine whether ownership structure moderates the connection between board attributes and financial risk management. The target population was 67 listed firms in Kenya while the sample included 41 non-financial companies based on inclusion-exclusion criteria from 2010-2017 giving a total of 328 firm-year observation. The hierarchical binary logistic regression was utilized to evaluate the interaction conditions of the hypothesis. The findings of the research revealed that the ownership structure had a positive and insignificant moderating effect on the connection between financial expertise of the board and financial risk management (s=0.12, ρ>0.05) while independent board members and financial risk management were positively and significantly moderated by ownership structure (β=0.75, ρ<0.05). The study concludes that board financial expertise is a key determinant of boards’ ability to make firm strategic decisions while a high proportion of outside directors was detrimental to hedging activities whereas ownership structure enhanced the relationship. The study findings will be useful to investors who want to make investments in firms by understanding board attributes in relation to risk management. This research offers logical information, especially in for emerging economies on the role of ownership structure in influencing financial risk management decisions.","PeriodicalId":266089,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Management and Economic Research","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128871286","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In response, banks are now searching for innovative income generating avenues to as a survival strategy. The portfolio theory conjectures that income diversification reduces income volatility and improves profitability. However extant literature shows mixed results. It’s from this background the study sought to investigate the effect of income diversification on bank performance. Using 310 annual observations drawn from 31 Kenyan commercial banks for the period 2008–2017, the study found that income diversification had a positive and significant effect on bank performance. Therefore, commercial banks are advised to consider diversifying in non-lending activities to better their financial performance. In view of this, the study has implications for bank regulators, scholars and practitioners.","PeriodicalId":266089,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Management and Economic Research","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126839745","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
