Compared with the traditional interaction approaches, such as keyboard, mouse, pen etc. Vision based hand interaction is more natural and efficient. As this methodology is aided with cameras and computer vision techniques. And besides normal use for handling objects and manipulating tools, the hand of human being can be used as the mean of communication here. This paper presents a new method or technique for a real time static hand gesture recognition on plain uniform background, for the HCI, based on pattern recognition using K-nearest Neighbor (KNN). Major consideration here is the stable lighting condition. Here work is done to recognize 10 gestures from ASL. Concept of connected components or objects is used here for hand segmentation, canny edge detector is used for pattern creation and classification is done by using K-nearest Neighbor algorithm. This algorithm gives 84% accuracy with recognition time of 0.3s. Accuracy decreases as distance of hand from camera increases above 1.5feets. The gestures recognized here can be used further to develop an application of controlling the devices which will be very much helpful to the physically disabled and older persons who can’t move easily from one place to another.","PeriodicalId":266028,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Intelligent Communication, Computing and Networks","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124914945","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The concept of the internet of things can be fully materialized with the help of its supporting technologies including the smart sensors, processors, and highly efficient communication protocols. The smart sensor nodes communicate with the base stations using different communication protocols. A brief review of the requirements of the IoT systems are studies and the communication protocols for the short-range and long-range IoT applications are discussed and compared in this study. Various short range and long range communication protocols which are used for the IoT applications are summarized along with the range covered and the number of nodes that can be connected. The major requirements and constrains of communication protocols employed in IoT applications are discussed. The study concludes that the choice of technology to be considered for the implementation of an IoT system is deeply connected with the types of applications which specify the range to be covered, the number of devices to be connected, the operational bandwidth available, the rate of transmission and the cost of the system.","PeriodicalId":266028,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Intelligent Communication, Computing and Networks","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124598596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are a specific category of wireless adhoc networks where their performance is highly affected by application, lifetime, storage capacity, topology changes and the communication medium and bandwidth. Whenever the traffic load in the network increases, buffer at a node becomes full and it cannot handle any more data packets. This causes packet loss and retransmission which affects delivery ratio, energy and decreases network lifetime. Congestion is an important issue in wireless networks. Congestion in WSN severely affects loss rate, channel quality, the number of retransmissions, traffic flow, network lifetime, delay, energy as well as throughput. The congestion can be resolved in WSN either by reducing the data rate or by increasing the resources to form alternative paths. In this paper, an Implementation of Improved TOPSIS Method for congestion control in WSN known as Improved Hierarchical tree Alternative path protocol has been proposed which provides an improved performance over the basic HTAP protocol.","PeriodicalId":266028,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Intelligent Communication, Computing and Networks","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115968188","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The antenna has a low profile and is nearly is four times smaller in size than a conventional patch antenna. The multifrequency behavior is realized using a reactively loaded structure for the monopole antenna resulting in operation at both monopole and dipole modes. The monopole resonates at S Band and the dipolar mode resonance at L5 band. The novelty of the configuration is in realizing an additional band by introducing small square slot in the loaded structure. Copper wires are used to balance the current between the two ground at the antenna and the CPW feed line. The performance of the antenna is evaluated using ANSYS HFSS.","PeriodicalId":266028,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Intelligent Communication, Computing and Networks","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132849736","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
