Even operation-wise, Internet at sea would enable the availability of several applications and services (E-commerce, Live data of Potential Fishing Zones advisory, etc.) which would lead to a more improved and efficient fishing business for fishermen. The potential of the proposed OceanNet architecture for marine Internet connectivity is demonstrated through this V2I communication infrastructure that ensures connectivity and coverage to satisfy the vehicular application requirements. This work is a study of link quality parameters based on real data collected from the installed OceanNet devices on eight fishing nodes. The ultimate aim of such a study is to be able to provide information for fishermen as to the locations where they would get reliable Internet connectivity for emergency communication using VoIP services.","PeriodicalId":265871,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on COMmunication Systems & NETworkS (COMSNETS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130227279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We consider an OSN in which the users communicate via private peer-to-peer messages. We propose a peer-to-peer linear threshold (PLT) model for information diffusion in OSNs, which is a variant of the classic LT model. To combat the rumor spread in the OSN, an anti-rumor agent introduces positive information to a few users of the OSN, which are called as positive seed nodes. These positive seeds spread the positive information in the OSN in due course of time. For a given time-period called the rumor-relevance interval, we determine average number of rumor-influenced nodes for the random, the max-degree, the greedy, and the proposed proximity-weight-degree based positive seed node selection schemes. We compare the effect of the rumor-relevance interval duration and number of positive seed nodes on the average number of rumor-influenced nodes for different positive seed selection algorithms. Our experimental results show that proximity-weight-degree based positive seed selection algorithm performs on par with the high complexity greedy scheme.","PeriodicalId":265871,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on COMmunication Systems & NETworkS (COMSNETS)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122252325","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI) particularly with data mining enabled the implementation of AI based malware classification and detection systems. AI based malware analysis systems are predominantly signature based and are built on available malware datasets. This paper tries to evaluate the capability of a feature based malware classification using autoencoders. In so doing, this paper presents a new approach for creating a synthetic malware dataset based on signature and features which could be used to train and test both traditional and artificial intelligence based malware detection systems. Various experiments are carried out using autoencoders training on feature based and signature based datasets and tested on a synthetic dataset. The experiments also carried out with multiple datasets and topologies. The experiment results show that the feature based training is proved to be efficient for synthetic, signature and feature based datasets compared to signature based approach. Feature based stacked autoencoders (5-layered) is able to achieve a classification accuracy of 95.6% more than 11.6% when compared with the signature based system which could achieve only 84.6%.","PeriodicalId":265871,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on COMmunication Systems & NETworkS (COMSNETS)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116540725","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The impact of these two pollutants is increasing day-by-day due to rapid urbanization. Although, creating real-time pollution maps and forecasting of pollution levels have been studied extensively, the contextual, spatio-temporal correlation between air and noise pollution has not been investigated thoroughly. This correlation is important to identify the characteristics of an urban area. In this paper, we have highlighted some aspects that are useful to identify a context from different pollutant data. To collect the noise data, we have developed an android based application “AudREC” that uses the inbuilt mobile micro-phone sensor. Moreover, for measuring air pollutants, we have used a ready-made “Flow” device that senses PM2.5 and CO2, etc. The initial outdoor experiments show the feasibility of the platform for recognizing contexts from air and noise pollution information.","PeriodicalId":265871,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on COMmunication Systems & NETworkS (COMSNETS)","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131362525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose an integrated framework for earthquake management helping in mitigating, preparing, responding and recovering from disasters using IoT, sensor networks and deep learning models. Our model will be built upon previous research by considering the impact of destruction, which will assist in relief efforts, rescue operations, and disaster responses. The framework will start with collecting data from publicly available sources, followed by data scrubbing, exploring, featuring and modeling using deep learning semantic-based CNN models. Various performance measures like confusion matrix will be used to evaluate our model. Data visualization will be done using Python and Tableau. Our model will quantify the impact of earthquakes using images collected pre and post-earthquake, focusing on building destruction. The results of our analysis will help humanity to measure and monitor the impact of disaster by using data science tools and techniques.","PeriodicalId":265871,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on COMmunication Systems & NETworkS (COMSNETS)","volume":"247 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132585495","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Emulation, which is an alternative method to evaluate the services in realtime, lacks in accuracy as the scale of the network increases. In this paper, we present the scalability analysis of the open-source discrete event emulator NS-3 and demonstrate its limitations under different load conditions. We, further, model the underlying radio network as an open GI/G/1 queuing network with nonexponential service time and inter-arrival time distributions to present theoretical analysis of the system. Theoretical results give a trustworthiness indicator and provide a measure of divergence between emulated and analytical results. We use Percentage of Accuracy (PoA) as the measuring parameter of accuracy of emulation results with respect to theoretical results. We also conduct a small test-bed based experiment and compare the results of the same with that of the emulator. Test-bed results help us to tune the parameters of the emulator, so that better emulation accuracy can be obtained.","PeriodicalId":265871,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on COMmunication Systems & NETworkS (COMSNETS)","volume":"184 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132936703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two controllers with budget constraints, each representing one of the two opinions, wish to maximize a function of the number of nodes adopting their opinion at the end of a campaign that runs for a fixed duration. We determine the Nash control strategies for both the controllers and first prove a key structural result on these strategies that gives us insights on how campaigns should distribute their effort and ad spend. Next, via extensive simulation studies, we show that not being strategic may lead to a significant loss of effectiveness. We also observe that the relative values of the budgets of the two controllers are more significant than the absolute values of the budgets. Further, we study the allocation of budget across the duration of the campaign by the Nash strategies.","PeriodicalId":265871,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on COMmunication Systems & NETworkS (COMSNETS)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133896432","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Failure to detect impending faults may result in component degradation, which leads to vehicle breakdown. In recent years, Machine Learning techniques have been widely used for fault diagnosis in vehicles and hence provide intelligence in fault prediction. This paper proposes a general fault detection and isolation method for air brake system in Heavy Commercial Road Vehicle (HCRV) using machine learning techniques. Decision tree and random forest methods have been used to learn fault patterns that are reflected in the wheel speed sensor data. The training and testing data for the diagnostic scheme were collected from the Hardware-in-Loop (HiL) set up of air brake system. To classify the fault/no-fault conditions of air brake system, a random forest approach gave good prediction accuracy of 94.47 %.","PeriodicalId":265871,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on COMmunication Systems & NETworkS (COMSNETS)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134055504","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It requires successful renovation with suitable technology and innovative design models while sharing knowledge and amenity to the society. Satellite communication plays an important role in providing accurate and timely information to the user nodes present in the community. Software-defined networking (SDN) has been evolved as an emerging platform in the last decade and solves various challenges faced by traditional network used in satellite communication. In this paper, we present an SDN deployed design framework for traffic management and weather forecasting in smart city environment. Our design framework is integrated into the ground stations and consists of four modules, namely; data retrieval, computation, verification, and information circulation. These modules coordinate with each other along with the satellites, and user nodes. The accuracy of the proposed framework is verified using a Z3 constraint solver. Also, the performance is compared with TCP/IP network and existing GPS systems. The results show 98% accurate message detection, 38% enhancement in throughput, and approximately 25ms delay in delivering the messages to the user devices.","PeriodicalId":265871,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on COMmunication Systems & NETworkS (COMSNETS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130323547","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
