One of the promising conjugated polymers, but not very popular such as polyaniline or polypyrolle, is poly(phenelene vinylene) (PPV). The main aim of research is synthesis of novel derivatives of p-PPV materials, which could self-assemble on the Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) surface. The new materials should have more ordered structure with higher crystallinity degree, thereby should acquire better electrochemical, spectroscopic and photochemical properties. p-PPV is one of the best donor materials in organic solar cells and it has unique physical properties, such as good conductivity, low cost of production, high mechanical strength and flexibility. PPV is almost insoluble polymer, which hinders its processing. To ensure solubility long alkyl or alkoxy chains could be incorporated into the phenylene ring before polymerization. Also, the significant drawback of polymers is its tendency to aggregation and tendency to \"clutter\" the polymer chain [1]. It affects the disturbance of its polymer structure and deterioration of conductive properties. The long alkyl side chains are commonly introduced onto polymer backbone to improve its ordered polymer structure. Beside this, the side chains also have significant impact on the morphology of conjugated polymers organized on the surface, and consequently it determines its optical and electrical properties. PPV with long alkyl chains containing 9, 12, 15 and 18 atom of carbons were synthesized using Gilch route with mild polymerization conditions [2]. Understanding the processes leading to the formation of conjugated materials with unusual physico-optical properties, requires multidisciplinary research, combining experimental methods together with the theoretical. For the successful application of these materials, their structure, physicochemical and physico-optical properties after their polymerization and interaction between the different nanostructures have to be well understood. The physicochemical properties of obtained new materials are determined with different optical and electrochemical techniques, such as spectroscopic methods (FTIR with MCT, H NMR, C NMR, Raman), microscopic (AFM and SEM), thermogravimetric (TGA), scanning calorimetric analysis (DSC), electrochemical (CV, DPV, EIS) and optical (UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometry) methods. The final stage will focused on the construction of OPV solar cell – standard and inverted.","PeriodicalId":265434,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th World Congress on New Technologies","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127535553","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Winkler","doi":"10.11159/ICNFA19.132","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.11159/ICNFA19.132","url":null,"abstract":"Extended Abstract Graphene quantum dots (GQDs) are a relatively new class of carbon nanomaterials with a promising potential use. The unique physico-chemical properties of GQDs are intermediate between the features exhibited by nanoparticles, which results from their small size (diameter <30 nm) and features typical for carbon nanostructures with high specific surface area, as the consequence of the fact that GQDs are fragments of a graphene plane [1]. The high reactivity of GQD edges allowing them to be functionalized with oxygen containing groups and to increase their dispersability while good electrochemical properties have been maintained. Presented results are focused on synthesis of a hybrid system between fullerene C60 and GQDs structures based on covalent modification. In the first step, a 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction to obtain the pyrrolidine fullerene derivative was performed. It involved the introduction of fullerene C60 in the toluene solution containing sarcosine and 4hydroxybenzaldehyde and maintaining the mixture at boiling temperature for 12 h, according to the procedure described in the literature [2]. In parallel, the GQDs modified with carboxylic groups were obtained by ultrasonification of graphite flakes in a nitrating mixture under high temperature conditions [3]. The hydrophilic functional groups, formed mainly at the edges of the GQDs, have reacted with the added thionyl chloride and allow to obtain more reactive acid chloride groups. In the final step, fullerene C60 pyrrolidone was covalently bonded to the functionalized GQDs to form hybrid C60-GQDs. Synthesized C60/GQDs material was characterized by microscopic (TEM, SEM) as well as by spectroscopic methods (FTIR, Raman) to confirm each step modifications. According to the combination of GQDs exhibiting large specific capacitance and fullerenes allowing the faradaic processes to occur, obtained hybrid system was expected to act as an interesting charge exchange mediator. Therefore, electrochemical studies were undertaken and the potential of C60/GQDs system as an electrode material of the capacitors was examined.","PeriodicalId":265434,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th World Congress on New Technologies","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131658916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, GO is an efficient filler for the enhancement of the electrical, mechanical and thermal properties of composite materials [2]. We focused on GO as a nanofiller in polyacrylamide hydrogels and PAAm-GO composites to investigate the effect of temperature and graphene oxide on the swelling. Polyacrylamide (PAAm) hydrogels have been proposed for use as promising biomaterials in biomedical and tissue engineering. The composite gels were prepared by free radical crosslinking copolymerization with GO content varying in the range between 8 and 50 μl of GO. The effects of temperature and graphene oxide on the swelling of the composites were studied. The swelling experiment was performed in the distilled water. Decreasing in pyranine (Py) as a fluorescence probe and emission light intensity (Iem) were monitored by steady state fluorescence spectroscopy. Since the increase in Isc corresponds to the increase in turbidity of the swelling composite gel, the corrected fluorescence intensity, I was introduced to analyze the swelling processes. The Stern-Volmer equation combined with Li-Tanaka models was used to explain the behaviour of I during swelling processes. The cooperative diffusion coefficients and time constants were calculated as a function of temperature and GO, respectively.","PeriodicalId":265434,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th World Congress on New Technologies","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133377382","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Operating conditions heavily affects the gasification yields within the process. Nevertheless, an important issue in SCWG is the possible deposition of tar, char and inorganic compounds with subsequent plugging of the reactor. Reactions of re-polymerization are taken into account in regards to the results obtained. Important considerations are given here concerning the design and operation of high pressure reactor systems aimed at SCWG of biomass. Operational issues are seldom taken into account in this kind of investigations.","PeriodicalId":265434,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th World Congress on New Technologies","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114123099","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The restoration works of the theatre started in 2003 for improving the safety levels and for adapting the operational functionality of the machines on the stage to the current needs of the show, including the acoustic performances. In particular, the Department of Energetic Engineering, Nuclear and Environmental Control of the University of Bologna collaborated with the Teatro Nuovo from the acoustic point of view, In order to monitor the acoustic performance of the concert hall, two campaigns of acoustic measurements, respectively before and after the restoration works, have been conducted, verifying the conservation of its original acoustical characteristics. The measurements were performed through an omnidirectional loudspeaker, a dummy head and a Soundfield probe. The results of the measurements of every campaign are presented in this article.","PeriodicalId":265434,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th World Congress on New Technologies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115689746","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
