Today's customers are demanding and prone to changing the service provider. Meeting or exceeding customer expectations is a major and growing challenge across the industry. Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology in the core network provides multiservice support and high performance by load-sharing traffic over redundant core links. It offers flexibility and scalability. The introduction of mechanisms for raising the level of network availability has turned MPLS network monitoring into a challenging task. In this paper, we propose an algorithm which ensures real-time tunnel performance monitoring in MPLS networks with Traffic Engineering, giving the operator detailed insight into the network operation, and thus providing the ability to evaluate network performance and simplify troubleshooting. The detectors are based on the Frequency Shift Canceller concatenated with a Parallel Interference Canceller. This detector is very scalable which shadows the complexity penalty of a serial implementation in which other detectors have advantage. Implementations for the Time Division-Code Division Multiple Access deployed in China, in two software platforms one in OpenMP and other in CUDA were done. It is demonstrated that a realtime implementation is possible with a General Propose Graphics Processor Unit. The proper operation of these systems heavily depends on their ability to automatically detect the presence of vehicles in the parking spaces. To date, this problem is solved by expensive wireless/wired systems. As the car presence is only one bit of information, with importance of knowing the ID of a slot, in this paper we consider the possibility of using Battery Assisted Passive (BAP) tags for those purposes. Specifically, the considered system uses a BAP tag, with the battery replaced by a solar cell. Once the light level is below some thresholds (ensured by car on top of it), the tag stops transmitting the data, and the system recognizes the slot as occupied. This data plane abstraction provides a workaround to dynamically define and change the network topology and routing. Consequently, these features could drive a greater energy efficiency through the deployment of coordination algorithms that would use concepts of clustering and low-power modes. This paper proposes an optimized coordination algorithm to minimize energy consumption in static Wireless Ad Hoc Networks (WANET) using the software-defined networking model and topology control (TC) mechanisms. Currently the topology control is linked to the type of WANET, however, within the SDN paradigm, the new control plane abstraction makes the topology control agnostic to the underlying network. Thus our SDN controller determines which nodes are the most useful for communication and which nodes should be coordinators at a particular period of time; hence less local processing and contention messages are required. Finally, to prove the potential energy savings of the proposed solution, we have carried out simulations to compare our solution with Span on a WANET scenario. On the other side, traditional Wi-Fi radio access can be used as an uplink solution. In this paper, one such heterogeneous based solution for wireless access is presented. In the proposed model, the users estimate their location from position information broadcasted by VLC lamps, and Wi-Fi access point (AP) is used to effectively manage and allocate resources of VLC enabled lamps, based on this info. It is the process used to predict the most probable effort required to perform specific work. Based on forecasted effort it is possible to determine costs and allocate required resources. The effort estimation inherently includes various factors and therefore the process of decision making and producing the predictions regarding required efforts is in its nature a process of reasoning with uncertainty. To enhance this process software engineers are using various approaches, application of data mining and knowledge discovery techniques proved to be especially effective. This paper reports a study in which Bayesian networks (BN) are used to improve software development effort estimation. Study examines tree major entities involved in estimation process - projects, work items and estimators. The analysis is based on real data collected from software projects executed in Croatian software company. Several parameters must be considered in vertical handoff process along with traditional received signal strength (RSS) information, they are related to user preferences, terminal capabilities and QoS, such as data rate, tolerated delay. In this context, Classical Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM) methods, like the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) were used to make suitable handover decisions. Our approach called Fuzzy TOPSIS, is based on the combination of TOPSIS method with fuzzy logic in order to reduce the decision delays, blocking probability and the number of executed handoffs. Performance results of the proposed system are also compared with those of the classical TOPSIS method. The proposed algorithm is able to determine properly whether a handoff is necessary or not, and selects the best candidate radio access technology (RAT) considering the input parameters and fuzzy inference rules. Corkscrew electrodes, considered in this paper, can become faulty due to cold solder that can appear immediately after the manufacturing process or due to mechanical stress after a few months of use. This problem is hard to detect and is usually manifested as noisy output signal. Commonly used method for monitoring the reliability of materials or circuit interconnects is the resistance measurement. Although very easy to implement, this method does not provide a reliable failure detection. Motivated by these facts, in this paper we propose a computer model based on resistance measurements, for predicting and detecting failure in EEG electrodes supported by laboratory measurements. Level and type of noise is obtained from the comparison of resistance fluctuations of the electrodes tip recorded under stress, and simulated signals. Time-frequency analysis has been applied to real and simulated reference and faulty electrode signals and results compared in order to establish a failure detection measure. Since the energy spectrum of the signal is shown to be an unreliable indicator of the failure appearance, the Rényi entropy is used to determine the difference between reference and faulty electrodes. This measure is applied to measured and simulated spectrograms, denoised using the K-means algorithm.
