It is important to determine these propagation errors as they are essential for siting the MLS antennas with the collocated ILS system and ALS light lanes. The scattering problem is formulated and solved, and the MLS guidance error is determined. In addition, the propagation error components of the path following error (PFE) are obtained and analyzed. The peak MLS guidance error and the PFE are functions of the ALS or ILS structure and their distances from the MLS azimuth antenna phased array. It is concluded that in order to keep these errors within the acceptable tolerances care must be taken in siting MLS phased-array with respect to the existing ILS localizer.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":264366,"journal":{"name":"Antennas and Propagation Society Symposium 1991 Digest","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127163141","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The formulation is used to evaluate the symmetric component kernel for the circular array asymptotically as the number of dipoles tends to infinity while the ratio of the number of dipoles to the radius of the circle remains constant. It is shown that, under suitable conditions, the imagery part of this kernel tends to zero exponentially, suggesting the existence of exponentially narrow resonances.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":264366,"journal":{"name":"Antennas and Propagation Society Symposium 1991 Digest","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127499228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An attempt is made to minimize the field intensity within the sensitive region near a TV broadcasting station. while maintaining the direction of the mainbeam. The idea behind the method is to use both a lower-order and, separately, a higher-order approximation to the spatial derivative. The solutions are then combined node by node using a nonlinear weighting scheme that does not allow new maxima or minima to form. The method of FCT is discussed in the context of applications to time-dependent electromagnetic problems. The results indicate a drastic improvement in the solution in regions where steep gradients appear as in pulse propagation. The results of the addition of FCT to the original Lax-Wendroff algorithm are presented. It can be seen that the wavefront is maintained without the additional burden of ripples in the solution.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":264366,"journal":{"name":"Antennas and Propagation Society Symposium 1991 Digest","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123311664","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Experimental results are presented which, according to the author, demonstrate that not only does the RCS of a dihedral corner reflector oriented for maximum backscattered return differ significantly from this value, but that high-range-resolution measurements of the dihedral can serve to identify the dominant contributors to the backscattered field. It is noted that inclusion of these backscattered components in an analytical calculation will allow an accurate calibration model to be generated.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":264366,"journal":{"name":"Antennas and Propagation Society Symposium 1991 Digest","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115561723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The locations of the integration contour and branch points are chosen to be consistent with continuous physical transitions between operating regimes. The rationale for choosing branch cuts in the transverse spectral plane is given. Pole singularities arising from the layered background surround are then obtained in a manner consistent with the cutting of the transverse spectral plane. Trajectories of the poles and branch points are presented for typical leaky modes.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":264366,"journal":{"name":"Antennas and Propagation Society Symposium 1991 Digest","volume":"283 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116089367","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A spectral description of the diffracted fields coupled with a set of boundary conditions written on the top and the bottom of the inclusions is used. This makes it possible to write two equations where the magnetic and electric currents are, first, uncoupled and, second, directly associated respectively with the magnetic and electric incident fields. The solutions are obtained using the Galerkin method. The method shows that the response of a monolayer made of a periodic array of magnetic metallic inclusions (whatever their shapes) is weakly sensitive to the magnetic susceptibility of the inclusions. Nevertheless. the method is sensitive enough to allow one to recover the magnetic response of the composite from the reflection and transmission coefficients by solving the associated inverse problem.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":264366,"journal":{"name":"Antennas and Propagation Society Symposium 1991 Digest","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121866127","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
