Two well-known formulations describing the problem of adaptive IIR filters are the equation-error formulation and the output-error formulation. Which the one has the problem of biased estimator in presence of noise, the other faces the problem local optima. In this paper, a method combining the two formulation is proposed. Moreover, an algorithm is proposed to monitor the stability of the adaptive IIR filter. The proposed technique combined with the stability monitoring algorithm is illustrated on a single leg suspension for identification purposes.","PeriodicalId":263970,"journal":{"name":"2021 9th International Conference on Control, Mechatronics and Automation (ICCMA)","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116414333","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Spain is one of the largest energy consumers in Europe which consumption rates at the country level are not profoundly examined. This study presents a multivariate modeling methodology for Spain’s electricity consumption prediction based on 14 socio-economic, 3 energy-related, and 2 meteorological variables using machine learning and statistical analysis tools. Historical data covering the period from January 2008 to December 2019 with monthly periodicity is used. The obtained experimental results show that the electricity consumption forecasting model combining a random forest-based feature selection method, a wavelet transform-based denoising scheme and a statistical forecasting tool called SARIMAX produces lower error rates (RMSE=0.125 and MAPE=2.85%) compared to other existing state-of-the-art techniques used for the same dataset.","PeriodicalId":263970,"journal":{"name":"2021 9th International Conference on Control, Mechatronics and Automation (ICCMA)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133482721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this environment, manufacturing companies, and specifically SMEs, are struggling to manage, design, and implement innovation projects for improving their level of digitalization and automation. Against this backdrop, the current results of work in progress towards a framework for managing, designing, and implementing innovation projects is discussed. The framework proposes nine phases based on combining approaches of practical relevance, which have proven their efficacy in industrial application. The core of the framework is coined by a DEV-OPS cycle for designing and implementing a more digital and automated manufacturing system. The DEV-OPS cycle is supplement by an initial maturity assessment, by the determination of objectives and key results (OKRs), as well by training the employees for acquiring the necessary competencies in a more digital and automated working environment.","PeriodicalId":263970,"journal":{"name":"2021 9th International Conference on Control, Mechatronics and Automation (ICCMA)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129253646","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, the control of electro-magnetic valve actuation (EMVA) is considered. The control of valve seating velocity, rise and settling time of valve with minimum peak overshoot for a certain valve lift position are the main challenges. The proposed work is based on proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller with particle swarm optimization (PSO) to overcome the issues. The PID controller’s parameters were first obtained using Ziegler-Nichols method and then further optimized with multi-objective PSO technique. The simulation results indicate that the proposed multi-objective PSO-based PID controller can achieve justifiable seating velocity with faster valve operation for both forward and return strokes. The weighted sum approach was applied on the multi-objective PSO, and effect of varying weights on performance was also studied. The valve list profiles of particle swarm optimization were compared with Ziegler-Nichols based PID controller and a better performance was achieved using the proposed control technique.","PeriodicalId":263970,"journal":{"name":"2021 9th International Conference on Control, Mechatronics and Automation (ICCMA)","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117083161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, the k-means algorithm is used to divide the distributed photovoltaic power station data set into three types: normal, fault and critical, and then the random forest algorithm is used to establish two diagnosis models of critical random forest and fault random forest, so as to realize the fault diagnosis of distributed photovoltaic power station. Finally, the effectiveness and accuracy of the method are verified by simulation. Although various studies have been focused on implementing lean tools in different fields, there is a lack of such implementation on the cladding process. This study aims to use these tools in a laser cladding process and is intended to address the areas requiring improvement of the deadtime, with a prime focus on minimizing the waste and increasing overall equipment effectiveness. After analyzing the entire flow of the process through Value Stream Mapping, the laser cladding machine was recognized to be the bottleneck. As such, efforts were focused on minimizing the non-value-added time attached to this process. Further, the study identified the major root causes, including limited process standardization, absence of maintenance schedules, unnecessary motion, inefficient machine design, and health and safety risks. To address these major causes, a course of action was developed using Lean tools such as Ishikawa diagram, Standard Operating Procedure, Cleaning, Lubrication, Inspection, Tightening sheets, and Single-Minute Exchange of Die. These recommendations discuss improvements involving the reduction in the cycle time and increased productivity while also reducing safety risks due to high exposure to powder and temperature. It was observed that the deadtime was decreased by 41.6%, whereas the productivity increased by 20.9% after implementing the proposed recommendations on the shop floor. Furthermore, the Single-Minute Exchange of Die methodology is drafted to develop an efficient machine design that can increase productivity to about 66.6% after successful implementation.","PeriodicalId":263970,"journal":{"name":"2021 9th International Conference on Control, Mechatronics and Automation (ICCMA)","volume":"251 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114254129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A virtual controlled object (VCO), which is a single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) structure, is introduced between an actuator and a controlled object. Setting appropriate VCO parameters yields a state equation for model-free controller design. The VCO-based model-free vibration controller is easily obtained by applying traditional linear quadratic regulator (LQR) theory to the state equation. An iterative parameter determination method for the VCO-controller is constructed based on the simultaneous perturbation stochastic approximation (SPSA). The damping performance of the proposed technique is verified by vibration suppression simulations.","PeriodicalId":263970,"journal":{"name":"2021 9th International Conference on Control, Mechatronics and Automation (ICCMA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130340601","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The response optimization was analyzed using multiple response predictions. The results showed that the optimum angle was 8.9091°, and the optimum rate of the vibration motor was 50 HZ, resulting in a loss of 2.1424 kg and a low machine loss of 0.003 kg with the highest throughput of 49.1213 kilograms. This sorter can also reduce the number of workers required for sorting with a breakeven point of about ten months. In addition, the sorter can reduce sorting time, which may increase the purchase demand.","PeriodicalId":263970,"journal":{"name":"2021 9th International Conference on Control, Mechatronics and Automation (ICCMA)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132147115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A value of this parameter is usually obtained from a data-sheet of the coupling between the motor and the load, or from a measured frequency response. These methods are however not applicable to rod mechanisms, which are widely used in industry due to their rotary-linear conversion. Firstly, the load is typically directly connected to the rotor without a physical coupling. Secondly, the mechanical parameters and especially the inertia of these mechanisms are position and time dependent. Rod mechanisms are thus non-linear time-varying systems, which excludes off-line methods such as measuring a frequency response for estimation. This paper therefore presents a novel approach, based on the Sliding Discrete Fourier Transform (SDFT), for on-line estimation of the mechanical stiffness. The feasibility is verified with simulations on an equivalent two-mass system of an industrial pick and place unit, existing of a combined four-bar/slider-crank mechanism. Simulations show that accurate estimates are obtained and changing stiffness can be detected, which can serve as a new diagnostic tool.","PeriodicalId":263970,"journal":{"name":"2021 9th International Conference on Control, Mechatronics and Automation (ICCMA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124352577","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
