We investigate these problems using spectral, Fourier and complex analysis. We furthermore introduce some new techniques for obtaining spectral transformations and computing of the so-called crosspower spectrum of an image, allowing a fast and efficient solution of the problem of image registration under affine transformation.","PeriodicalId":263257,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 20th International Conference of the Chilean Computer Science Society","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123411789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately, most of them have been unable to move beyond diagnosis and action planning, turning those plans into real and practical actions. This paper focuses on two software process areas, software quality assurance (SQA) and software configuration management (SCM), and proposes a set of generic tools to assist in the implantation of specific practices for them. SQUID (Software QUality In the Development Process), a measurement-based methodology for specifying, monitoring and evaluating the software product quality during development, is adapted and used to manage the quality of implanting specific tools, such as guides, checklists and templates for SQA and SCM practices. We describe the results of a preliminary application conducted, showing how the proposed adaptation helps in formalizing and normalizing the implantation process, setting tangible goals and evaluating the results more precisely.","PeriodicalId":263257,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 20th International Conference of the Chilean Computer Science Society","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129463728","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is based on a multi-expert architecture using a database management system and a blackboard to control the progressive analysis of the user's sentence. We have integrated a numerical method based on fuzzy rules to deal with uncertainty. This method is used to optimize the analysis process and the cooperation between the different experts. On the other hand, the goal of our recent research is to ease or eliminate the knowledge-acquisition bottleneck for expert system creation and to make a connectionist model behave as much as possible like an expert system. Parallel machine scheduling is important from both the theoretical and practical points of view. From the theoretical viewpoint, it is a generalization of the single machine scheduling problem. From the practical point of view it permits to take full advantage of the processing power provided by resources in parallel. Two basic models involving m machines and n jobs are the foundations of more complex models. In the first problem the jobs are allocated according to resource availability following some allocation rule. In the second one, besides that, jobs are subject to precedence constraints. The completion time of the last job to leave the system, known as the makespan (C/sub max/), is one of the most important objective functions to be minimized, because it usually implies high utilization of resources. These problems, minimizing the makespan, are known in the literature (Pinedo, 1995) as the unrestricted parallel machine scheduling (Pm|C/sub max/) and the parallel machine scheduling with job precedence constraints (Pm|prec|C/sub max/). Evolutionary algorithms (EAs) have also been used to solve scheduling problems. This paper proposes a multirecombination scheme to solve both parallel machine scheduling problems.","PeriodicalId":263257,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 20th International Conference of the Chilean Computer Science Society","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130512896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several temporal data models were proposed in the last 20 years with this purpose, but no commercial implementation of a temporal database is still available. This paper presents an integrated temporal database environment implemented on top of a conventional database. Using this environment, a user can handle the specification, the data definition and the queries as though the database implements the temporal data model. The environment performs the mapping from the temporal conceptual schema to the correspondent database, and of the queries expressed in the temporal query language to SQL. Data definition is controlled based on the state transition rules of the temporal data model, keeping thus the temporal integrity of the database. The underlying conventional database keeps transparent to the user.","PeriodicalId":263257,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 20th International Conference of the Chilean Computer Science Society","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131791844","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Often the number of classes \"competing\" for each prediction is large. Therefore, it is necessary to \"focus attention\" on a smaller subset of these. We investigate the contribution of a \"focus of attention\" mechanism using enablers to the performance of a word predictor. The competence of these agents is implemented in two layers. The first corresponds to pattern recognition algorithms directly applied to image segments. The second one corresponds to reasoning mechanisms applied to the information from the first layer, either to validate or to interpret it. The interpretation process also involves information obtained from other agents. This information can present inconsistencies. This problem is treated properly and naturally through the concepts and operators of paraconsistent logic. This paper focuses on the second layer, on task distribution problems and on communication between agents. The first layer information was obtained through a simulated database.","PeriodicalId":263257,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 20th International Conference of the Chilean Computer Science Society","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129308782","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
