Although ethics, morals, and values traditionally had pivotal roles in the mission of universities, modern universities tend to almost exclusively emphasize vocational and technical knowledge rather than the humanities and no longer aim at character building. This shift has had many negative consequences including the commission of horrible crimes in the relentless pursuit of material wealth and power by graduates of elite universities. The advent of new technologies such as artificial intelligence greatly empowers human beings, who now require more than ever greater ethical awareness. In this paper, we will share our experience in designing and conducting a course titled Ethics, Values, and Technology at a technology university in Pakistan. The unique feature of this course was the incorporation of discussions on Islamic ethical frameworks along with secular ethical frameworks for dealing with modern technological challenges. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first course of its kind and we believe and hope that our design and experience can benefit others who are interested in offering such a course.","PeriodicalId":260264,"journal":{"name":"2018 7th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129316903","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The strategy focuses on squeezing idle video traffic to save the wasted network bandwidth. Video stream on a consumer device is categorized as active or inactive on the basis of user gaze. A video stream is considered active if user’s gaze is detected on that, but for the case when user’s gaze is not detected, the video stream is considered to be inactive. Information regarding active/inactive video stream is fed back to the corresponding source. The source end intelligently saves the wasted bandwidth of inactive video stream by either reducing the quality of idle stream or by sending only audio throughout the idle duration. It is expected that significant bandwidth can be saved by applying the proposed strategy.","PeriodicalId":260264,"journal":{"name":"2018 7th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130502975","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two short-circuited microstrip comb-lines have been coupled at the two sides of a rectangular-loop to construct the hairpin resonator. The Taconic TLX-8 material has been used as the substrate to design the filter at a center frequency of 2.45 GHz. The designed filter exhibits a two-pole Chebyshev response with an insertion loss of -0.37 dB and a minimum return loss of -34.03 dB. This compact filter has a fractional bandwidth of 4.37% which sharply selects the entire bandwidth of WLAN frequencies.","PeriodicalId":260264,"journal":{"name":"2018 7th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116031469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As information and technologies expand, so does the potential for it to be exploited. Computer and media have become more widespread in every modern country in the world. Unfortunately, certain community uses this opportunity to exploit the vulnerabilities that these computers left behind. Black hat, which is more identified as hackers and exploiters, uses the networks and servers that are commonly used to gain unauthorized information and data on the innocent victim. This work analyzes several honeypots and makes comparisons between them. Analysis has been done on the results to figure the disadvantages between each honeypot and try to improve one of the honeypots based on programming. The honeypot is deployed to simulate its effectiveness in combating cybercrime by detecting and collecting the information captured on the web browsers.","PeriodicalId":260264,"journal":{"name":"2018 7th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128922705","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The breath analysis is a study that analyze the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the human exhaled breath which can lead to the detection of diseases. Current technologies such as urine and blood test are invasive and painful. Hence, rapid detection of disease is proposed through breath analysis that is noninvasive. This work emphasizes on the establishment of electroacoustic sensor called quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensor. AT-cut quartz was chosen as the piezoelectric material and aluminum as the electrode. The QCM sensor is modelled and simulated using the COMSOL Multiphysics to evaluate the performances in term of resonance frequency, coupling coefficient and sensitivity. The simulated QCM sensor with quartz radius of 385 um resonates at 5.109MHz. The sensitivity of the sensor is 0.8449 MHz/ng after exposed to acetone gas which act as the breath marker for detection of diseases in exhaled breath.","PeriodicalId":260264,"journal":{"name":"2018 7th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126966584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can automatically simplify the region of interest with unique key-points matching. Harris Laplace corner detection has been used to find accurate matching key points for different photometric changes, scaling in images. Spanning tree has been used to improve the connectivity of correct matching pairs by minimizing the global error value. Spanning tree is the key for stabilized randomly positioned camera viewpoints. It always gives successful stabilization output. This process doesn’t need to analyze the key-points twice. The results show that the proposed algorithm can process more than 120 camera viewpoints in less than two (<2) seconds. It shows a great consistency for different image sets for different viewpoints of cameras.","PeriodicalId":260264,"journal":{"name":"2018 7th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131018916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed low profile antenna can offers the wireless communications services for WLAN and WiMAX applications. The rectangular shaped patch antenna consists of pair of C-, L- and splitted-T shape slotted radiator, and 2D reflective metasurface covering at the back of patch which is separated by dielectric layer of substrate. The details of the antenna design structure and performance criteria are discussed through numerical simulation using full-wave electromagnetic simulator. The simulation results shows that by employing the reflecting metasurface covering, the −10dB impedance bandwidth has considerably increased than the typical CPW-fed patchantenna: from 440 MHz to 570 MHz (29%), 390 MHz to 480 MHz (23%) and 900 MHz to 1060 MHz(18%) for three different operating bands centered at 2.5, 3.5 and 5.5 GHz respectively. The simulated result shows the antenna with RMC integration achieves peak gain of 6.56 dBi, 6.43dBi and 6.97 dBi with average gain of 6.45 dBi, 6.27 dBi and 6.82 dBi at three operating bandsrespectively which are higher than the typical patch antenna.","PeriodicalId":260264,"journal":{"name":"2018 7th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131529190","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Patients must regularly monitor their blood glucose concentration to manage the disease. A non-invasive way of glucose monitoring using biosensor has emerged as an alternative technique. This work describes a contemporary approach of using patch antenna sensor in estimating the glucose level in blood. Focus of this work is to perform the simulation of sensor design using finite element analysis software, CST Microwave Studio. The geometry of sensors have been simulated where the results show the optimal design of feedline length was 11.25 mm at 1.98 GHz. The optimal design was then simulated in COMSOL Multiphysics for evaluating frequency shift in different medium permittivity of air, water and blood. The increase of permittivity will result in decrease of resonance frequency.","PeriodicalId":260264,"journal":{"name":"2018 7th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133453455","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
