The problem with the wireless sensor networks is that each node in the networks has a limited battery life. In addition to that most of the security algorithms that are used consume so much processing power. This paper studies the coding techniques that are energy efficient and can provide security in terms of physical layer security. Reed Solomon code found to be more secure and less energy efficient than Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem while Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem code is more energy efficient but less secure when it is compared to Reed Solomon.","PeriodicalId":260264,"journal":{"name":"2018 7th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131233394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The interest for compact antennas in the industry have become high. Thus, the demand for small antenna is huge especially due to the booming industry of mobile communication. Generally, an antenna at low frequency exhibits in large physical size. This project investigates the design of an antenna at 400 MHz. The simulation of the antenna has been performed using CST MWS. Since medical applications are dealing with low frequency, it will lead to large size of antenna which brings a challenge for wireless personal area network (WPAN). Therefore, antenna miniaturization using Meander Line (ML) will be taking place to overcome the challenges. Thus, this paper presents a comparison between i) printed dipole antenna without meander line technique, ii) printed dipole with meander line technique and iii) printed monopole antenna with meander line technique. The results show that an estimation of reduction size by 50% can be achieved using Meander Line technique.","PeriodicalId":260264,"journal":{"name":"2018 7th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115496211","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, a lot of smartphone manufacturers had introduced dual lens camera models into the market. This paper looks into utilizing the smartphone’s built-in dual lens camera to capture stereo images for the development of stereo vision app on Android smartphones. We will go through the tools needed to build the app and how to access the dual lens camera individually. Because not all smartphone allows access to the camera’s lens individually, we must investigate and determine which smartphone models provide the ability to do that. The result shows that LG smartphones allow us to access the camera individually. LG offers the most flexible and full camera control. Huawei smartphones (including Huawei’s subbrand Honor) have extra parameters to an existing camera control that might be able to use but further investigation is needed. Since the suitable smartphone models have been identified here, you can acquire any one of those LG smartphone models and start to develop your own stereo vision Android app.","PeriodicalId":260264,"journal":{"name":"2018 7th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115217953","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Utilization of millimeter wave technology becomes a key factor in solving the problem of bandwidth shortage. Millimeter wave leads to delivering much higher throughput, faster data rate, and capacity. However, it is still facing some technical challenges’. The main objective of this paper is to identify research challenges in the mm-wave channel and activities on modeling. A brief analysis of rain fading was presented based on simultaneously measurement of one-minute rain rate and its effects on a short experimental link of 38 GHz and rain fade is observed as high as 15 dB for 300 m path at about 125 mm/hr rain intensity. Hence rain attenuation at 0.001% and 0.01% of outages must be considered for 38 GHz. The statistical spatial channel mode simulation software was utilized for an operating frequency of 38 GHz. To observe the received power and path loss, power delay profile (PDP) was generated. The omnidirectional and directional received power and path loss have been estimated using environmental parameters of Kuala Lumpur city which illustrates the theoretical performances of 5G in Malaysia. As the receiver moves from line-of-sight (LOS) to non-line-of-sight (NLOS) scenarios, a drop of 33.1 dB omnidirectional power is found.","PeriodicalId":260264,"journal":{"name":"2018 7th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128037039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The power energy is transferred through the 30 mm $times 30$ mm of inductive coupler with the help of 61 mm $times 61$ mm of capacitive coupler. The simulation results proved that the power can be transferred through both inductive and capacitive coupler by observing the magnetic and electric fields. In this paper, we use a multi-stream framework which is a combination of separated networks with different kinds of input generated from a unique video dataset. We study various methods for extracting best frames in videos for action representation and find the way to fuse multiple networks for better recognition. We make the following work: first, we propose a method to extract the active frames (called Selected Active Frames - SAF) from videos to build datasets for 3DCNNs in video classification problem. Secondly, we propose a mixed fusing approach called Vote fusion which is considered as an effective fusion method for ensembling multi-stream networks. We evaluate the proposed approach to solving action recognition problem. We carry out this approach on three well-known datasets (KTH, HMDB51, and UCF101). From the aspect of performance, it is still a big challenge to obtain the best output from Spark, since the Spark configuration settings with large parameters configuration affect its performance at large extent. Spark has over 180 parameters which control the system performance. These parameters have default values, which lie in a range. User can manually select the suitable values for each parameter. Improper choice of the parameter value leads to poor performance. Manual tuning of the parameters in Hadoop-Spark system requires user to have in-depth knowledge on the system. Because of large parameter space, manual tuning is very time consuming and inefficient. Retuning of the parameters may be required for each different application. This paper propose and developed an effective, self-tuning approach, namely SMBSP, based on Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to avoid the drawbacks of manual tuning of parameters. Dell Poweredge R720 server has been utilized with 5 different sizes of dataset to implement the approach. Furthermore, this approach is found to speed-up the performance of the Spark system by 35% (on an average) compared with default parameter configuration.","PeriodicalId":260264,"journal":{"name":"2018 7th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"124 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123610953","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because of its long-range coverage, low power consumption and low cost system architecture, Lora WAN has becoming a favorable option for performing communication in most of IoT wireless applications. This project aimed at quantifying the foliage effect in terms of attenuation and its overall contribution to the path-loss and link budget calculations. Specifically, five tree types were studied and their contribution to the path loss were quantified for different path crossings (e.g., trunk, tree-top and branches). The trees are Licuala Grandis, Mimusops Elengi, Mangifera Indica, Cyrtostachys Renda and Livistona Chinensis. Mimusops Elengi tree, characterized by its big size and crown density, gave the strongest mean foliage attenuation accumulating up to 20 dB. Trunks contribute even higher attenuation in comparison to tree-tops and branches. The Okumura/Hata, Log-normal shadowing and foliage models are used as references for this propagation models development. Our study showed that Okumura fails to capture the effect of foliage in International Islamic University Malaysia, Gombak campus that is rich in trees. This goes to illustrate the necessity for considering the tropical environment where the characterization of foliage attenuation plays an important role in determining the propagation model path-loss and link budget needed for LoRa network design and planning.","PeriodicalId":260264,"journal":{"name":"2018 7th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128964784","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
