Witaszek-Samborska","doi":"10.24917/9788380846258.10","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.24917/9788380846258.10","url":null,"abstract":"Exclusion and the excluded in contemporary Polish Summary The article concerns the functional evolution that the lexemes wykluczenie i wykluczony have undergone in Polish from the 19th century (the moment of structural borrowing from Russian) until today. As the authors show, these words, initially present in the general language (as indicated by lexicographic notations), began to appear in scientific texts at the end of the 20th century. In the Polish language of the 21st century, they supplemented the terminological resource, and then – as at least partially determinologized units – began to function in the public discourse. The appearance of new collocations with these lexemes (e.g. wykluczenie cyfrowe, wykluczenie komunikacyjne) confirms the widening of the scope of the disturbing phenomenon, which is social exclusion.","PeriodicalId":258283,"journal":{"name":"JĘZYK POLSKI – MIĘDZY TRADYCJĄ A WSPÓŁCZESNOŚCIĄ. The chronological order of the sources makes it possible to compare how the recipient’s attributes have changed over the course of this century. The characteristics of readers are associated with several thematic circles. The study was carried out in 2014 and comprised four eastern and four western local dialects of Lesser Poland region. The analyzed test group was asked about the following five expressive lexemes: drob, pędrok, siksa, węzowica, źlamdok. The youth claim to be familiar with the lexemes that are present both in dialectal and standard Polish language (although particular meanings may vary). What is more, the meanings attributed to standard Polish version are more widely known than their dialect equivalents. Among the participants of the questionnaire, it is foreign words that are the least known, or completely unknown elements of Polish standard version. However, this is not a reflection on authentic names (functioning in public space), but an analysis of proposals sent to the competition for the name of one facility – a system of unified fees for public transport (commonly referred to as a metropolitan ticket). The competition was announced on the Internet in early 2019. Over 3,000 ticket name proposals were sent in . From this set, some names were selected for analysis – derivatives with multi-word basis. They are presented in groups distinguished due to the word-formation structure of names. This word – despite its dialectal origin – is present in the statements of not only the users of the local dialect, but also of people who do not speak the dialect. The example material was excerpted mainly from the statements of Internet users posted on Internet forums. In the introductory part, we refer to the beginnings of gastronomic literature and show the development of culinary-related genres, starting from ancient cookbooks to culinary blogs. In the following sections, we discuss the distinguishing features of culinary blogs, such as evaluation and emotionalization, as well as persuasive techniques to convince recipients to choose the right blog and recipe: likableness, credibility, creating a community. Hence, the aim of this article is to analyse medical terminology, with particular emphasis put on the methods of creating new terms, i.e. such terminology mechanisms that lead to the development and enrichment of the terminology in question. The study is based on a set of terms and their specific contexts drawn from two journals: “Medical Tribune” and “Medycyna po Dyplomie”. This network uses the human associative mechanism. The second network was built using the Word-to-Vector algorithm. The syntagmatic links describe the meaning of the lexeme well. The article describes how the two networks represent the meaning of the mother lexeme. This particular example shows well the differences between sets of words obtained in different ways, i.e. with the use of the human associative mechanism – an experimental lexical network and a well-built algorithm. A case study from the Greek and Latin lexical borrowings in Old Polish Summary This paper is focused on the problem of several Old Polish words, which have a common etymon in Greek διάκονος. The discussed forms are different formally and semantically and they were borrowed via different borrowing channels.
