At first, a coaxial cavity with far spurious stop band is proposed. Then several such coaxial cavities are connected in series to form a band-stop filter. To illustrate the design process, a coaxial band-stop filter has been designed, with a stop-band centered at 5 GHz, a bandwidth of 2 GHz, and its first spurious stop-band higher than 18 GHz. The sample filter has been fabricated and tested. Tested results show good agreement with simulated results. The parameters of the band-stop filter are explicitly derived from those of a standard filter, which is assumed as a reference. It has been proved in both the simulation and the measurement.","PeriodicalId":257679,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Art of Miniaturizing RF and Microwave Passive Components","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131791883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The power divider is composed of a segment of CRLH TL and several microstrip lines coupled with it. This design is based on the zeroth order resonance of CRLH TL. A prototype power divider at 2.4 GHz is presented. Unequal power division can be easily achieved. It is very compact along the longitudinal direction. The total insertion loss of the proposed CRLH power divider is less than 1.2 dB. Good phase balance and isolation among output ports are obtained.","PeriodicalId":257679,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Art of Miniaturizing RF and Microwave Passive Components","volume":"158 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131850903","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Analysis methods for waveguide OMTs, including the mode-matching method and hybrid methods, are briefly reviewed. Three types of compact OMTs are described: a dielectric-filled OMT with reduced size, a planar OMT implementing using substrate integrated waveguide, and a dual band Tx/Rx OMT with a compact diaphragm to improve isolation. The dual-band Tx/Rx and SIW OMTs are verified by measurements. Challenges for designing multi-band OMTs with compact size are also pointed out.","PeriodicalId":257679,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Art of Miniaturizing RF and Microwave Passive Components","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130936131","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the adoption of the same new configuration of coupling coefficient, the distance between the two loops is clearly shortened, which offers BPF an advantage of miniaturization. The configuration is characterized by a higher Q factor by introducing two transmission zeros in the transfer-function. Through the analysis of electromagnetic software CST to achieve the structural parameter of the coupling coefficient of this configuration, the band-pass filter used in K waveband and X waveband are designed in this experiment with dimension of 2.3times2.4 mm2 and 5.9times5.9 mm2 respectively. The X-band bandpass filter's insertion loss (IL) of 3.2 dB, and the IL of the out-passband of 25 dB. The result of the experiment agrees well with emulate wave.","PeriodicalId":257679,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Art of Miniaturizing RF and Microwave Passive Components","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133562812","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, a mode graph of the initial triple-mode resonator is studied to choose its proper dimensions, aiming at allocating its first three resonant modes located within 3.1-10.6 GHz and its transmission zeros near its 5th-7th resonant modes. As a result, a very wide upper-stopband is created. Then, the uniform resonator is bent so as to miniaturize its overall size. Moreover, two short open-circuited stubs are shunt-connected to the initial resonator such that the upper-stopband can be further extended to a range of up to 30 GHz with an insertion loss higher than 20 dB. A filter sample is fabricated and measured in final. Measured results are well matched to the predicted results in terms of insertion /return losses and group delay over the plotted frequency range of 1.0 to 30.0 GHz.","PeriodicalId":257679,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Art of Miniaturizing RF and Microwave Passive Components","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126166209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
