Also presented is the criterion for the validation of the software used for these measurements based on the original Guide. This additional method was developed since the original one presents some limitations, especially those related to the degree of nonlinearity of the measuring models. For a 10:1 capacitance ratio (100 pF to 10 pF) a type A uncertainty accuracy of a few parts in 107 has been achieved with 1-V programmable Josephson arrays. The accuracy can be significantly improved when using 10-V Josephson arrays. The circuit model considers the influence of distributed admittances and impedances within the calculable capacitor and has been derived from the main currents flowing inside the calculable capacitor and the voltage drops caused by these currents. It has been found that the frequency dependence of the cross capacitance is proportional to the square of the frequency, whereby mutual inductances of opposite electrodes and capacitances to ground dominate the behaviour at higher frequencies. After that, we continue researching on the improvement of magnetic flux measurement and start to focus on the precision measurement of the mutual inductance with the flux measurement system we built before. This paper introduces the mutual inductance measurement method which is based on the programmable Josephson system at NIM. This analysis is valid even for moderated quality factors, Q. The equivalent circuit is determined via field analysis using the Lagrangian formulation considering all terms of the mathematical formalism, whose RLC parameters are determined using a Vector Network Analyzer and the critical points method. In this framework, a Time Domain Spectrometer working up to about 3 THz has been set-up at Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica, Italy. Its characteristics are here described.
