While belonging to various language schools, the author encountered numerous songs that captured children’s interest in English vocabulary and phrases. While some of these songs had original melodies, many were adaptations of traditional songs in Japan, USA, and UK. Consequently, the author undertook the task of developing English songs using familiar tunes and shared them with a group of Japanese and Filipino English teachers who taught Japanese children. The article presents the feedback received from these teachers regarding the preference for utilizing traditional tunes and the focus of these songs.
