The method involves determination of stochastic models of the environmental parameters so that forward and backward predictions could be performed accurately with minimal energy. When difference between measured values and corresponding model-predicted values falls outside predefined threshold interval, measured values are upheld and used to update the model by computing for new model parameters while keeping stochastic order of the model constant. The proposed method has been applied and validated using environmental field data. Favorable results were obtained. The method was also used to determine, with sufficient accuracy, numerical values of missed measurements during a low frequency sampling.","PeriodicalId":246856,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 16th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125697718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Musílek","doi":"10.3390/EN10050607","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.3390/EN10050607","url":null,"abstract":"An intelligent energy controller is proposed to manage operation of wireless sensor nodes equipped with energy harvesting devices. The energy controller uses Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy logic and has inputs for the state of the energy buffer and forecasts of solar energy available for harvest. Two different forecasting horizons were investigated, current and next-day, using ideal and pressure-based forecasts. Differential evolution is used to optimize the controller. To validate the evolved controller, a wireless sensor network is simulated using real field-collected environmental data. The optimization goal is to best utilize the solar energy available for harvest while preserving a backup energy reserve. Performing the highest number of operations possible while leaving the energy reserve intact increases deployment time and reliability. The controller using current and next-day energy forecasts made better use of the available energy, indicated by a lower fitness function. However, while it took more measurements when compared to the controller only using the current-day forecast, it also used more reserve energy while still remaining at only a small fraction of the total available reserve. Reserve energy usage using the pressure-based forecast was higher for both forecasting horizons compared to the ideal energy forecast, pointing to further performance improvements possible for a more accurate forecast.","PeriodicalId":246856,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 16th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114221264","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But the spatial proximity of DC and AC power circuits in the same right of way leads to the presence of additional DC components in the currents and voltages of the AC line. One of known effects caused by the presence of DC components in the AC networks is the DC saturation of transformers connected to the AC lines. The performance of power and instrument transformers under the influence of DC components may be altered. The influence of DC components on voltage and current transformers for a new planned AC/DC hybrid transmission line is considered in the paper. It is shown that the standard instrument transformers used in the AC power circuits are not significantly affected by the DC components caused by the operation of the DC line. The method for the estimation of the influence of the DC line operation on the instrument transformers in the AC power line is considered in the paper.","PeriodicalId":246856,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 16th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC)","volume":"226 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114226665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Electric arc furnaces and multi-pulse motor drives are commonly used facilities for steel-making and rolling mill in the plants; however, the operation of these facilities presents violent and nonlinear characteristics which may cause considerable power quality impacts. In this study, the problem of power quality that occurs in a power system which feeds multi steel plants is investigated. A complete system model is thus implemented by MATLAB/Simulink for simulations; meanwhile, real-time simulation technique is introduced to increase the calculation efficiency. The issues for the harmonic analysis and improvement of voltage fluctuation are simulated and discussed as well.","PeriodicalId":246856,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 16th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116233460","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a numerical simulation on the CO2 capture installation in our university. The simulation of the CO2 post-combustion capture process is made by using the HYSYS 3.2 software. This topic is adequate in what concerns reducing the environmental impact of the coal fueled steam power plants. In this case we used a solution based on MEA (monoethanolamine). Following the simulation processes, we have concluded that the rise of temperature for the amine solution before entering the desorption process leads to a reduction in energy required for the solution regeneration (for the same value of the capture efficiency).","PeriodicalId":246856,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 16th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC)","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121060830","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results obtained by depositing coatings with increasing concentrations of an appropriate organic fluorescent molecule on polymer solar cells show a trend with a maximum short circuit current density increase (+3.74%) at intermediate concentrations (1% wt.). Such behavior has been successfully correlated with the photo-physical properties of the coatings. These results highlight the suitability of LDS as a straightforward strategy for improving the performance of polymer solar cells without modifying the chemistry of the photoactive layer.","PeriodicalId":246856,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 16th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127556831","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed step-up principle is based on the generation from a single source of two isolated DC sources, connected in series to feed the load. Each DC source is provided by a redesign in the classical boost DC/DC converter. This feature is needed for interface between renewable sources that at times don't have a voltage output high enough to be connected to the power electronics. The other advantage that comes along with the proposed transformer-less topology is the reduced number of power switching devices.","PeriodicalId":246856,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 16th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC)","volume":"124 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122644032","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

EVs have not gas emissions, they have silent driving and much higher efficiency than internal combustion engine vehicles and, in particular, they are fundamental for the world's sustainable mobility. In fact, many industries and universities have decided to replace their corporate fleet with green vehicles. The aim of this work is to present the Smart Grid project at the Savona Campus of the Genoa University, with particular attention on the use of the EVs. The scope of this work is to evaluate the different habits of charging the vehicles and to study new scenarios to take advantage of the full potentiality of smart mobility.","PeriodicalId":246856,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 16th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC)","volume":"169 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122925308","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By the proposed approach, any inverter-based distributed generator in a microgrid can be replaced by an equivalent electrostatic machine. This paper aims to promote the use of the proposed modeling approach in the analysis of microgrid stability. Thanks to the proposed modeling approach, transient performances of on-grid operation of converter-based distributed generators could be easily analyzed by multi-machine models. Parameters of the equivalent synchronous electrostatic machine model are derived to achieve equivalence with the inverter model. Small signal models in the d-q synchronous reference frame of both the inverter and the machine are compared. An integrated simulation setup including the electrical power inverter with a sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation scheme and the small signal models of both the inverter and the electrostatic machine is implemented. Simulation results are shown to validate the modeling approach.","PeriodicalId":246856,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 16th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131278904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the last six years, a lot of plants and small wind turbines have been installed in Italy, especially in the South. Aim of this paper is to examine how local standards, incentive policy and regulations have affected the spread of small wind turbines in Italy. After examining national and regional legislation, an analysis of the data on the penetration of wind systems in Italy has been carried out, with particular attention to six Southern regions (Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Apulia, Sardinia, Sicily), has been carried out. The data analysis allows to detect several factors influencing the evolution of small wind turbines market. They mainly depend on two aspects: the fragmentation of sector-specific regulations on a regional level and the incentive program/strategy.","PeriodicalId":246856,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 16th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131449841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
