In particular, for satisfying temporal requirements web service designers have to cope with possible imponderabilities of external service invocations leading to pessimistic schedules. We propose a novel solution for the dynamic binding of services in presence of temporal constraints, which guarantees the dynamic controllability of a web service composition and aims at achieving higher Qualities of Service for instances which are ahead of schedule.","PeriodicalId":246655,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 23rd International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Workshop (EDOCW)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123882218","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To proactively handle this issue, enterprise modeling needs to include threat management during the design phase that considers antagonists, attack vectors, and damage domains. Agile methods are commonly adopted to efficiently develop and manage software and systems. This paper proposes to use an enterprise architecture repository to analyze not only shipped components but the overall architecture, to improve the traditional designs represented by legacy systems in the situated IT-landscape. It shows how the hidden structure method (with Design Structure Matrices) can be used to evaluate the enterprise architecture, and how it can contribute to agile development. Our case study uses an architectural descriptive language called ArchiMate for architecture modeling and shows how to predict the ripple effect in a damaging domain if an attacker's malicious components are operating within the network.","PeriodicalId":246655,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 23rd International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Workshop (EDOCW)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133497234","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite theoretical benefits that have been widely agreed on, challenges have also been met in practice reflecting on issues about techniques, businesses, organizations, processes, and etc. It is not easy to understand the challenges from different perspectives and come up with an integrated solution. In this research, we reviewed nine scientific papers in which projects of applying EA in governments or public sectors in real scenario have been presented. We collected challenges reported in these projects and proposed to observe them by using Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as a lens. Through this technology acceptance perspective, more than seventy challenges can be understood and organized in a consistent way. The results are expected to bring some in-depth insights and to help practitioners to apply EA in public sectors.","PeriodicalId":246655,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 23rd International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Workshop (EDOCW)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122289179","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, this paper presents ongoing research exploring the adoption effort through the development of e-government service platform that facilitates the entrepreneurial discovery as the key for rural area's economic growth. This research follows the design science research methodology (DSRM) as the guidance in defining, designing, and implementing the research artefacts. There are two main research artefacts will be delivered from this research that expected to fill in the gaps from the previous works. First, the theoretical model that describes the key features of urban smartness concept for the realisation of economic benefit for the citizens in a rural area. Second, the design of the e-government service platform customised to the rural context. These research artefacts will be demonstrated and validated using a case study in West Java province, Indonesia, as the region has a strong vision to improve the economic welfare of the people in their rural area through digital initiatives. As the preliminary result, this research proposes a conceptual framework that suggests the urban smartness technology, combined with the organisational and environmental capabilities, can lead to the improvement of the economic welfare of the citizens in rural area through a process that encourages innovation in the local communities.","PeriodicalId":246655,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 23rd International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Workshop (EDOCW)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115428165","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The scientific problem that I address in my research is the limited usage of real-time data, originating from Industry 4.0 (I4.0) technologies (e.g. smart IoT devices and sensors), by Small-and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the logistics industry. I argue that the development of an industry platform for real-time data streaming and analytics would allow SMEs to benefit from such data and help them streamline their operational processes and overall performance. The main contribution of my research is a reference architecture for such a platform, geared for the needs of SMEs, and incorporating: 1) a logistics canonical data model to collect and harmonize I4.0 data, 2) an automatic schema matcher to map SME data to the logistics canonical data model, 3) autonomous data mining agents, 4) an adoption strategy based on the concept of intelligence amplification and 5) key performance indicators to measure adoption effects on operational and decisional performance.","PeriodicalId":246655,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 23rd International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Workshop (EDOCW)","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129964554","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In contrast to goal models which are usually defined by stakeholders, architectural models are not always defined explicitly, or systems may not be used as they were designed. To understand the real behavior of a system, process mining techniques can be applied. These techniques allow us to automatically construct real models from the system's event logs. These real models can be compared to goal models to reveal their common and different parts. Unfortunately, graph-based approaches used for the model comparison are computationally expensive and can hardly be applied to large process models constructed from real-life event logs. In this paper, we adapt well-known heuristic approaches to efficiently compare process models. These approaches were tested on real data. The obtained results can be further used to compare real and expected (goal) process behavior.","PeriodicalId":246655,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 23rd International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Workshop (EDOCW)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130110793","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consequently, the media industry is concerned with adapting these new trends and develop new products, which fit the customer needs. In this paper, we investigate the challenges the public service media companies are facing in competing with the market and how those challenges can be addressed by Enterprise Architecture (EA). Based on a literature review on related work, we conduct a multiple case study with four European public service media companies from four different countries. In semi-structured interviews with eight people in three different roles, we could identify six challenges. Three of the six challenges could be confirmed by related literature. Many European public service media companies' chances for success are currently at risk by rigid organizational structures, resource scarcity, and silo mentality. Furthermore, in the mid or long term the historically grown, unstructured and hardware-focused IT architecture can cause problems with regard to agility in meeting new business requirements. Cross-medial production and reorientation on audience needs, are seen as further challenges in the long run. Finally, we discuss how and by which EA layers these challenges can be addressed.","PeriodicalId":246655,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 23rd International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Workshop (EDOCW)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129364260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a new method for navigating based on combination of any factor (e.g. safety, enjoyment, air quality, etc.) with distance. A data structure based on intensity of the factor is introduced. This data structure can be extended easily to cover different sources of data (e.g. government open data, users' feedback). Any kind of shortest path algorithm can be used in proposed method. We apply this method to a situation where travelers are seeking safer routes. The incoming traffic data of each station from Paris in 2017 is utilized to model a location-based safety status of the city. The shortest route is then modulated to a safer route to help pedestrians bypass unsafe zones in the city, thereby reducing the risk of encountering incidents. As a proof-of-concept, we produce a web application based on Google Maps API, which illustrates the performance of our method and application.","PeriodicalId":246655,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 23rd International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Workshop (EDOCW)","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132751422","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
