Therefore, Heuristic Algorithms are feasible solution to such type of problem. TSP is a representative of a larger class of problems known as combinatorial optimization problems. In TSP, if a Salesman wants to sell goods in different cities, he leaves a city and visits each other cities exactly once and returns back to the starting city. People may want to plan for the fastest or the most economical method to their destinations. The research aims to examine and develop effective and efficient optimization technique to get a shortest or suboptimal path. Google map uses Dijkstra's Algorithm as its fast-finding algorithm which is reported to have problem in searching for all route within a limited location. On the other hand, Ant Colony Optimization Algorithm can contribute effectively in solving lots of problems including shortest path problems, particularly, where other algorithms are inefficient. Both ACO and Dijkstra's Algorithm for simulations with a given routes(length) gave better result than random generation of routes for given cities. Results from the simulation experiment for ACO shows the Best Routes and total length for the best routes while results from Dijkstra's Algorithm show Minimum Cost for source node and destination node, for PSO gives better result with slower convergence. More iterations lead to get accurate results especially PSO Algorithm.","PeriodicalId":246041,"journal":{"name":"2022 5th Information Technology for Education and Development (ITED)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130953086","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was developed with unique design criteria such that it instantly aligns the solar panels position perpendicular the position of the sun, resulting in a 42% increase in efficiency of the generated energy when compared to a fixed axis solar panel. A low-cost solar tracker set-up is uniquely set up to act as the solar radiation sensor/detector which is used to rotate the solar panels via the electric motors to position the panels at a specific angle determined by the light dependent resistor of the tracker system. A microcontroller Arduino Uno is used as the microcontroller unit, and the Analogue Digital Converter ports are used to interconnect the sensor units. To connect the solar arrays, the Direct Current motor driver ULN 293D is used to rotate the solar panel at the highest solar power angle. The digital model was conceptualized on Autodesk® Fusion™ 360, using four Light Dependent Resistors. The performance analysis for the simulated model and developed system shows that the maximum current drawn by the solar tracking sensor is less than 0.72 mA. “Arduino UNO”, Proteus 7.6 ISIS” and “Code Vision AVR” are used to write the program code and to transmit it to the Arduino Uno microcontroller for parameter estimation.","PeriodicalId":246041,"journal":{"name":"2022 5th Information Technology for Education and Development (ITED)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131089546","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The circular patch antenna is built on a Flame Retardant 4 (FR4) substrate with a dielectric constant of 4.4 and a height of 1.6mm, and it is fed by an inset fed microstrip line technique. Several antenna characteristics are investigated, including gain, directivity, radiation efficiency, return loss, bandwidth, voltage standing ratio, and reflection coefficient. To demonstrate its superior performance, the designed antenna is compared to probe-fed and edge-fed microstrip line antennas in the literature. This antenna's resonant frequency ranges from 2.35 to 2.43GHz, and it has a high gain and directivity, making it suitable for reducing interference in Industrial Wireless Sensor Network (IWSN) applications.","PeriodicalId":246041,"journal":{"name":"2022 5th Information Technology for Education and Development (ITED)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114353931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different technologies, such as the Smart Grid System, have been developed over the years to solve many problems associated with energy demand and supply in many countries. However, several aspects still require innovative system designs and controls to solve. One is the energy management system's demand side management (DSM). The residential sector requires the most efficient energy management schemes of the three basic categories of electricity consumers. This paper approaches the challenge of developing a Residential Load Simulator using MATLAB-GUIDE for estimating and visualizing the energy consumption and cost implication of energy used in typical Nigerian homes. The Simulator models four categories of houses and eight common electrical appliances. The energy consumption and cost effect are estimated for 24 hours per day, 5 weekdays, 2 weekends, and one month. The granularity of estimation is hourly.","PeriodicalId":246041,"journal":{"name":"2022 5th Information Technology for Education and Development (ITED)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115026648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although these systems are good, they are only helpful for short-distance automation of about 100 meters. This poses a significant challenge and increased the risk of an electrical disaster (such as a fire outbreak) for people outside their immediate area who unintentionally left their appliances ON. It also increases the potential for energy wastage for appliances that were left plugged into the mains for longer than necessary. Therefore, there is a need for a reliable method of managing home appliances remotely from a distance. This paper suggested a Wi-Fi-based home automation system to overcome the above-mentioned concerns. The system uses three modes to convey commands to turn on and off electrical appliances (voice, manual switch, and ON/OFF Phone icon) and also take cognizance of the time taken to switch ON/OF the connected loads. Developing this system entails implementing the various hardware components (such as the system's power supply, microcontroller, relays, switches, and loads) and the programming of the system controller. However, an average delay of 0.9 seconds was observed before switching. The results of the system testing revealed that it is very effective in the remote control of electrical appliances.","PeriodicalId":246041,"journal":{"name":"2022 5th Information Technology for Education and Development (ITED)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124086771","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Living cells exhibit an electrochemical potential difference across their membrane which is responsible for the excitability of nerves and muscle tissues. This paper investigates the behaviour of transmembrane potential of nerves in response to external electrical stimulation for functional therapy. A major challenge is that high intensity transcutaneous electrical stimulation is required to achieve effective rehabilitation of deep nerve tissues and this can result in skin irritation and even tissue damage. A 2D model of neuromuscular tissue layers was developed and electrical stimulation with different intensity values were applied to the model using a bipolar electrode arrangement to study and visualize the effects on both surface and deep nerves. Activating function which is a measure of the effectiveness of bipolar electrical stimulation was computed to study performance. From the results obtained, it was observed that the maximum values of the activating function obtained for the applied stimulating signals on the surface nerve were consistently higher than that the maximum values obtained for deep nerves. This means that transcutaneous electrical stimulation is more effective on nerves close to the skin than those that are far beneath.","PeriodicalId":246041,"journal":{"name":"2022 5th Information Technology for Education and Development (ITED)","volume":"144 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124607759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a viable solution for ensuring high data rates and last-mile communication delivery in Next-Generation wireless communication. However, adverse weather conditions can significantly impair the performance of FSO channel links during transmission. Recently, Machine Learning models have received lots of attention in proffering solutions to signal impairments (that is, atmospheric turbulence, noise, and pointing errors) in optical networks. K-Means clustering algorithm combined with Support Vector Machine (SVM) and K Nearest Neighbour (KNN) classifiers were used for classifying the channel impairments in FSO links in this paper. The Dataset used for the training and testing of the models is fetched from an open-source called “Kaggle”, (https://osapublishing.figshare.com/articles/dataset/Dateset1Freespaceopticalsecretkeyagreement/6850181) cleaned by applying pre-processing techniques, and transformed before being used in the model via MATLAB simulation. The Performance metrics comparison between the two classifiers (K-Means/SVM and K-Means/KNN) suggests that K-means/SVM outperformed K Means/KNN with 99.2% accuracy. The most critical key to future mobile banking and market activation is a safe financial transaction. This study offers a safe authentication solution to strengthen the security of mobile banking applications using Convolutional Neural Network model to provide an embedded facial recognition model in mobile bank application. The System works with two computer vision models working together, the Firebase Machine Learning vision model to perform the face detection and preprocessing of the image, and the MobileFaceNet model to process, classify and transform into a data structure ‘savable’ by a database (an array of numbers). Data were collected by taking four pictures of each user, recording key facial features such as the eyes, brows, nose, lips, and ears in real-time with a smartphone's front facing camera. The System provides a user-friendly interface that was developed using Java programming language and Dart programming language. After being tested in a variety of scenarios, the system achieved very encouraging authentication accuracy on real faces. It is a promising application that can reduce insecurity in banking sector.","PeriodicalId":246041,"journal":{"name":"2022 5th Information Technology for Education and Development (ITED)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127155109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
