Three scenarios were envisioned for the comparative dimension ranging from simple artefact visualization to real-time monitoring. The collaborative dimension is detailed according to two scenarios: existence of a public display and the use of shared spaces. A case study related to group cognitive behavioural therapy is presented to show how our tool fits in a real world scenario and how it enhances the therapy process.","PeriodicalId":244239,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129431142","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to its powerful knowledge representation and inference mechanism, ontology-based user modeling is emerging as a natural choice to represent knowledge about users in E-commerce context. This paper has presented ontology-based user modeling system, and relies on user ontology to provide customized services in the context of E-commerce. A generic framework of implicit and explicit ontology-based user modeling is presented and described using Semantic Web technology, i.e. OWL specification, which can improve the quality of returned information for user's queries.","PeriodicalId":244239,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Applications","volume":"PP 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126445163","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, replica value determination methods applied now do not perform well, because they cannot well adapt to the changes of file access patterns. We address this problem by introducing a new replica value determination method through data mining, and based on this method we propose a prefetching-based replication algorithm in a virtual organization (VO) environment in order to carry out a better replication optimization. The major idea of this algorithm is to make use of the characteristic that members in a VO have similar interests of file. Experiments show that compared with traditional replication algorithms our new replication algorithm shows better performance and efficiency in data grid.","PeriodicalId":244239,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Applications","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126492191","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But to perform CI operation would come through a very complicated procedure. Many thorough evaluations or examinations need to be carried out before surgical operation, and a follow-up program needs to be fully committed by the CI recipients. We previously designed a database application software to manage CI patients' data. This software currently is in use at Beijing Otolaryngology Institute. In this paper, we propose a wireless network scheme for our software, and discuss the requirements from a wireless technology user's angle of view. Our goal is to enhance work efficiency, to provide better services to our patients and the CI candidates.","PeriodicalId":244239,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Applications","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117274447","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In our algorithm, conflicts are detected and resolved through a special type of negotiation among agents, i.e. consistency checking for constraints. The algorithm is sound under deterministic circumstance. In our algorithm, agents only exchange information about actions, casual links and constraints related to conflicts. It is of less communication, higher security than that exchanging the whole plan.","PeriodicalId":244239,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Applications","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115283487","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional consistency maintenance techniques can only maintain syntactic consistency; the semantic consistency is maintained by locking. Locking must preserve its own intention when executed at remote sites. Based on address space transformation, this paper puts forward a novel locking intention preservation algorithm TreeLock_AST. Compared with existing algorithm based on operational transformation, TreeLock_AST avoids the complicated transformation procedure among operations. Besides, TreeLock_AST adopts a tree representation of the document, which further improves the algorithm execution efficiency.","PeriodicalId":244239,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Applications","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115805110","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the mobile environment, nodes move randomly, join and leave frequently, which have exacerbated the underlying physical network topology dynamic changes, and further exacerbated mismatch between the logical overlay and the underlying physical network. This paper propose several novel strategies, which includes dividing the P2P coverage into several regions and giving the node identifiers common prefix in the same region, classifying nodes' type according to the structure of physical network and node's moving characteristics under mobile environment, transforming the region of the nodes which move cross-regional and making node replacement when nodes join in or withdraw. All of these enhance the degree of matching overlay network to the physical network. Performance analysis shows that the method have significant advantages in transmission delay and search resources.","PeriodicalId":244239,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126911896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
